This is fantastic work! It's amazing to see so many artist in this forum. I just finished reading The Dark Phoenix Saga, and am reading AvX at this very moment. Looking at these pictures puts me in a great place.
With that being said, I want these images brought to life. I'm trying to show confidence in Simon Kinberg. They messed up the Dark Phoenix once. I hope they learned from their mistake and don't be afraid of the source of material. |

Oh no. The movies aren't exactly holding to the source material. What ever shall we do.
![]() In all seriousness, though, I think that it'll be a fun ride, even if it does it's own thing a little bit. The post-First Class movies have all been worth my time and money. I don't see Dark Phoenix changing that.

I'm on record for saying let The Fantastic 4 go back to Marvel. Fox has made 3 attempts, and have not gotten those characters right. X-Men has given us great movies (X-Men, X-Men: United, First Class, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, Deadpool, and Logan). There are a couple of stinkers in there, but the MCU has their stinkers too. The biggest problem is continuity. Fox had no plan in 2000 to span out all these movies to create a connective universe, the MCU had that plan from day one, as long as Iron Man was a success. Fox now finds themselves trying to connect their films, but there is no grand plan (ala Infinity War). They will reboot one day, and when they do it would do wonders to have a working relationship with Marvel Studios. Fox would be silly to give up the rights to a profitable franchise, but working with arguably the most successful film franchise of all time would do them wonders.

All thanks to Hemanguy:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Man, imgur is going to take some getting used to. My images are just uploading in random order. Anyway, both of these figures are awesome. I still have issues getting DP to stand up, so I don't see why the flat feet were imporant when they weren't comic accurate. That aside, all of the head options kick ass, the paint job is oustanding, and any pose you put her in looks great. The Phoenix accessory is kind of lame as it can't even attach to her arm properly, but it is still cool to have. Cyclops also kicks ass as every positive DP has also accounts for him. This is hands down the best Cyclops figure ever. It still would have been nice if he came with an accessory too though.

Well, at least in Watchmen's case, I can understand, as for Ultron, he's existed for decades and been in plenty of different stories, and his origin's been redefined over the years, but Watchmen is just one work, and is held in more of a sacred position than any individual thing Ultron's been in.

Yeah. It's funny how that's only a complaint when people don't want to like a movie. Anyone who still can't get over comic book movies making changes here and there should hate the MCU just as much. Spider-Man Homecoming included, even though I'm sure the changes will be ignored and the movie will be loved, make millions, and be hailed the best Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2 (which it is, btw, just got back from seeing it. I think anyone with hang-ups still about the Vulture's movie look will give them up real quick).

I think the realization that the films universe (regardless of what film studio it is) is an alternate reality to the comics universe helps to give some leeway to stories. Stark instead of Pym creating Ultron, Wasp never being a founding Avenger, QUicksilver and Scarlet Witch being test subjects of Hydra rather than mutants are on par with Wolverine being taller than expected, Xavier never serving in a war (which isn't something that I see brought up that often), and changing the line up of the first class of X-Men.
There has to be some degree of similarity though, otherwise why bother with covering the storyline at all? And I think, really, the only X-movie that fails at that was The Last Stand, it handled the Cure storyline well but fell apart with The Dark Phoenix part. Although, bad writing on the part of that may have had a bit to do with it as well. Wolverine Origins was just a shitstorm of awful film making, but it didn't have a particular storyline it was trying to adapt other than Wolverine's origins (the entire point of the movie.) For me, every other X-movie has been at very least okay and in some cases outstanding, and I don't try to judge the differences in the comics and movies. Regarding X-Men Dark Phoenix, if the writing is good and they keep the focus on Jean and Scott I'll be fine. If they change the focus characters I would say why bother attempting to redo the story at all. And I say all this as someone who is still not a fan of some of what they have done. Too much Mystique, too much reliance on the Xavier/Mystique/Magneto focus..but those are different qualms than differences from comics to movie. Conversely, If I were to point out films from Marvel, it had a couple of films that did not work for me at all: The first Hulk movie and Thor The Dark World. It also had its share of just okay movies on par with X-Men X-Men Apocalypse and The Wolverine: Iron Man 2 and 3, the first Thor movie, and Ant-Man were all decent but not great. Anyways, enough of my soapbox just thought I'd throw out my opinions on the subject. Can't believe only two more weeks til SDCC! |

I really don't care if the Movie is different from the comics, but I do care if the Movie sucks. The xmen movies are hit and miss, so much so that I don't bother seeing the in the theater anymore.

First Class, Age of Ultron, The Winter Soldier, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse just to name a few that did not stick directly the source of material, but in my opinion all worked as films. Spider-Man: Homecoming is absolutely great, and it shows us what can be done in a healthy working relationship. Put egos aside, know your audience, have a plan, and tell a "Spectacular" story.
I also think Homecoming was a positive step in showing that these companies can work through the politics and the Perlmutters of the world and maybe we can get a new Fantastic Four movie now, too. Cross our fingers and hope I guess. |

Yeah I remember the anger about them changing Ultron's creator(s) for the movie only lasted for like a few weeks but change one detail in the ending of Watchmen and people still can't get over it.
Glad you finally found her and glad to hear you liked the movie. I've been looking forward to Homecoming since I saw Civil War, although since I hate big crowds I'll wait a couple of weeks before I go see it. |

Batman vs Superman is a prime example of how Zack Snyder has no respect for the source material. Just having scenes taken from the comics does not mean you respect it, especially when the personalities and tone of the characters are not even remotely close. ' Take X-Men 2 for example. It is based on God Loves, Man Kills, and it is a poor adaptation, but Singer at least respected the material enough to make a good movie out of it. It is a shame he did not do the same for Apocalypse because that movie just didn't care about X-Men. The poor actress who played Storm shaved her head for that movie and had maybe 15 minutes of screen time. Not to mention they didn't even make her character make sense. "I love Mystique and her friends for what they did, so I'll help you kill them and take over the world."

Sometimes the source material doesn't merit respect.

This is one thing that makes me nervous about the new X-Men movie. McAvoy and Fassbender refused to return unless Jennifer Lawrence came back for the new movie. I get that all three are friends in real life but Fassbender and Lawerence really shouldn't have been included in X-Men: Apocalypse. They just didn't fit with the story that well and I have to question their inclusion in the new X-Men move. |

Well. Happy except for Jubilee getting axed AGAIN, but what can ya do ![]() I will say that having Magneto in Apocalypse really reminded me of his role in the final season of X-Men Evolution, so it didn't really bother me much.
