Comics have just become to complicated for someone like me who is in mid 40s. I just want one team, one comic or one character. Not 15 titles of different X-Men. 4 different Capt Americas or whatever it is and a bunch or crossovers and reboots. Diversity is fine, but just make a new character if you need it.
Can't remember if this was asked.Does the mask on the Spiderman Homecoming Vulture come off? |

There were events prior, but they really weren't on the "interloping" scope that the last decade or so has been. Infinity Gauntlet, Secret Wars, etc. Quote:
When you have an 'event' every few months, it stops being eventful and starts being boring as hell. And above anything else, that is gonna make your audience apathetic to your books - a good story can't be told if it has to play second-fiddle to the story mandates of the editorial arm.
Plus with all the attempts at tie-ins, individual crafted storytelling fell to the wayside. |

No more events...well, sweeping ones..
...and no more circular arguments about legacy/PC/anti-PC...from the sound of it, you're all going to be happy...give it a f'n break...please and thank you... |

Another thing that upsets me about the IDW/Transformers stuff - one of the books is ending, and while there are a number of factors as to why, one of the reasons is that the writer had the choice of ending her current story and stepping away, or writing the stories that served the greater 'event/unified Hasbro universe' angle. And she had plenty more she wanted to do, but when you have to sideline your own storytelling to serve the editorial mandate, it's no wonder why she chose to just end her run.

@Triv
Nice pics! Much preferred to reading the exchange of quips and snark. A discussion or dialogue? No prob. But a 3 day Fight? nah...the only thing you "build" fighting is animosity, not understanding or regard... |

I can't think of a time I lived when you didn't need to read 4 different Spider-Man titles to get the whole story.

Throwing my hat into the crossover debate, I think that family-title crossovers can be less detrimental to storylines than company wide crossovers can. I'm not saying some ideas don't get put on hold but there's likely more flexibility for a writers input and for proper characterization. I just don't think every event needs to spiral into a line wide event. Also of course there's missing parts of the story most of us would have because most readers aren't going to get 40 different titles.
@Dr Kain, the ones you mention are great examples of what works (or I assume works I haven't read the DC ones yet) because they are family books. I think a lot of the X-overs work because they didn't spill into 40 books, just kept it between 4-ish books. Another example: For as much as I dislike BMB I thought the Avengers Disassembled was a great event (until the ending took a big crap on Wanda). The other events he's written not so much and it doesn't just stop with him. I think the big problem too as others have mentioned is there's now a seemed need to shoehorn events into a yearly schedule, or now more than that. It used to be there was a big line wide cross over 1-2 times a decade along with crossovers in the family book groups, especially the X-titles. Secret wars which was a mini and Onslaught which was the first real "line wide" crossover IIRC, then it became a thing in the mid-00's to have a yearly event as well as some minis and family book crossovers, again mainly X-books. Now it's like they can't tell a story in a book anymore because they're trying to force 2-3 events a year in. It's too much IMO. Give the books some time to breath because I think most all of us have event fatigue. |

Marvel's been selling poorer across the board. Gee, it's like Marvel's constant relaunches and event crossovers like Civil War II and Secret Empire are what's hurting the company, not people being tired of all these darn women and minorities in their books.
![]() It's also hilarious to use Rebirth as an example when one of the major selling points for Rebirth was that it specifically brought back a bunch of legacy characters and elements that had been rebooted out of the previous canon. Plus all that PCness! As far as rebirth goes, they took it back to legacy numbering and also took it back prior to new 52 continuity and recon. Show me again the PC'ed out character rosters for rebirth PLEASE... And for the final time i repeat myself they said it themselves... however a smart business tactic was to retract it. That does not mean it was never said... It's the truth they themselves (Marvel) knew it. If you still don't believe it feel free to go to any popular COMIC related group, forum, etc and see the normal complaints being whined about time after time. I can assure you, the numbering and events are NOT a #1 gripe. That's for sure. |

How about that transgender woman character in Detective Comics? The Green Lantern series that's being led by a Muslim man and a Latina woman? Teen Titans having a black and gay kid as the new Aqualad? The Batgirl title full of a bunch of diverse supporting characters? The New-Superman book starring a Chinese kid with Superman's powers? The Midnight & Apollo min-series starring a gay superhero couple? How about that new Batwoman ongoing title? Or the new Deadman mini-series centered on an LGBT couple? Sounds an awful lot like PC nonsense! But I'm moving on now because there's no point in getting into another circular debate. I'll be over here waiting for the Jane Foster figure. ![]() Quote:

It came far too soon after Civil War II, which people already argued came way too soon after Secret Wars. Which stands are you using, if I may ask? Note: Hasbro seems to be really mixing it up in character selection for ML...Seem that they are pulling characters from past and that middle of Marvel Legends, even producing some modern characters...Love this!..Getting me to ready more about characters I never knew were in the Marvel Universe...

Think it's possible we'll get more than one X-Men wave next year since there's a new show and 2 1/2 movies

What do you guys think of the Hulk that came in the two pack with Valkyrie? I like the way it looks but I've never seen it in person. I originally got the Thanos BAF hulk but I'm not a fan. More of a fan of the comic Hulk than the movie Hulk. I like the way the SH Figuarts Hulk looks, but it's crazy expensive, so I bought a Chinese copy, which was of course a terrible idea and is a piece of crap.
I've been really looking at the two pack Hulk lately, any thoughts or opinions? |

I hope so. There are more than enough characters to keep it fresh. What's the half movie? New Mutants? Deapool and Dark Phoenix are the other two I assume

Two-pack Hulk is sort of an acquired taste. It's a really great translation of Ed McGuinness' art (as is the Red Hulk BAF), but a lot of people feel the cartoony style feels out of place with a lot of other Legends, most of whom aren't sculpted in any specific art style.

Now that I see that this "new" relaunch by Marve in Sept is bringing back a lot of the classic 616 versions such as the real Thor, can I hope that Hasbro will finally be making a classic Thor & not in a gigantic scale like they have all the previous modern comic Thors. Put him on the Hyperion buck or some buck in that hgt scale. Thor is 6'6 not 7'6. Classic Bronze Age yellow/Red Ironman needs to come with 2 helmets, the classic & the pointy version, heck 3 heads, add a Tony Stark head as well. Or how about a 2 pack with classic shellhead and a suited Tony figure.
And now that I just read what DC has done to their lines with the PC stuff, it sounds even worse than what Marvel has done. Sheesh! |
