So yesterday I finally opened up the Hela I found earlier in September (there's a pic of her holding a hamburger in the "Look What I Just Got" thread) and I'm really impressed. I had no intentions of getting the figure before I found it but when I saw it I couldn't resist picking it up. My only gripe is that her sword was rather warped but that's not a real problem for me. I really love the way the horns came out though on her head and the unmasked head is also nice. Leaving the horned head on also feels like it works well enough then to be a comic figure. Hopefully Hela will follow the recent trend and actually be another good villain in a Marvel movie but even if not this figure is great.
Last night then at a local grocery store I was pleasantly surprised to find some Marvel Legends in the clearance section for $9 a figure so I picked up Dazzler. I'd always thought this figure looked pretty good and came out well but didn't feel like it was something I wanted to drop $20 on so at about half off I was happy with it. I like the inclusion of the microphone and the unique energy effect piece coloring but the roller-skates make more dynamic poses trickier. Yeah some people would've preferred one of her less campy outfits but this is the look that I always think of when somebody says "Dazzler" so I like it. |

Those are actually the same 3 I was considering. Nat was one I have some interest in but I am mixed on the use of the MJ head. I am most definitely not a Wolverine fan but I want the unmasked head with the partial mask. Tony is more because I have developed a case of "Iron Man has tons of armors so I need them too" syndrome. Plus I want the unmasked head. In the end though, I do not think any of them will be worth full price to me. At least not as of this posting. |

So is the vintage wave only an online deal? It won't be in retail stores?

You and me both. I have started waiting a while to see if I can pick up those characters I do not really care about on the cheap. It actually worked out perfectly for the Warlock wave as I ended up finding most of the wave for 9 bucks each in Wal-Mart clearance back in August. I only paid full price for Cyclops (the one time I saw him at retail) and Sunfire on a spur of the moment purchase. Even Colossus and OML (ya know, for not being a Wolverine fan I sure have a lot of him) were at least a couple bucks off when I got them. Considering the BAF was really the only figure from the wave that I actually wanted it worked out well.

I believe it will still be released at retail, but I've heard a couple rumors that stock will be limited |

Logan is exclusively because of the unmasked head - I owned the original Toy Biz Wolverine figure (the one this release is homaging), and one of my favorite aspects was the removable mask. So even though we have the Juggernaut-wave version, I'll double-dip for that. And the painted arm-hair. Tony is solely because we don't have an Iron Man yet, and he's the most similar to the animated series version, which is the one I'm most familiar with. As for the prices... hopefully my local dude will be offering them at a lower price than BBTS' advertised ones for singles. Or a discount on the wave, which I can then sell off the other three.

The biggest issue i have with that ironman is how undersized it is. If it were at least given newer legs to make it taller i may have gotten it, ill probably just get frank as i have an unmasked head for my juggy wave logan ( the bare chested jacket one from the xmen classics line ) so most of this wave is a pass for me.

Classically speaking, Rhodey was Tony's bodyguard, and as such, he was typically illustrated as being larger than Stark. Tony was relatively a normal man, physically, with no indication that he was large and imposing. At best, with the benefit of the artificial height and size provided by his armor, Iron Man was as tall (but not as broad) as Cap (George Perez being the principal influence for my opinion). In today's environment, it's pretty normal to read calls for Iron Man to be larger than Steve. I blame the MCU and the popularity of Iron Man movies for this fairly common opinion. Initially, the MCU had the proper casting, specifically as it regards physical presence, with Terrence Howard as Rhodes. He was appropriately larger, in height and girth, than is Downey. Although I like Don Cheadle as an actor more so than I like Howard (I like Howard also, just a little bit less), I prefer Terrence in this role and wish he'd remained (ya got greedy, Terrence - let the people love you, first, then get paid, dummy). I say all of this to buttress my stance that the smaller Iron Man figs are fine with me. The exception being the Extremis armor, that was far too small - what a waste of a decent sculpt, I still hold out hope that Hasbro will revisit that armor. I'm fine with the concept that Tony (possibly suffering from some insecurities and a Napoleonic complex lol) added height and size to the later iterations of his armor making him equal to larger physiques, like Cap et al. However, the slightly diminutive nature of his early armor (barring the 1st appearance armor), seems appropriate to me. ...but whatever...everybody has their own ideals for how a hero should look. I'm looking forward to this upcoming Iron Man. @Parademon1 JRJR was NOT the only artist to illustrate Iron Man with the big boots and gauntlets...Layton, although I like him, can't touch Romita Jr...or Sr, for that matter. ![]() Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 10-02-2017 at 09:42 PM.. |

Wouldn't it be cool if they actually made the characteres look like their comic counterparts for once?

I picked up Elsa and Lady Loki this weekend. No I didn't get the whole set but, my Lady Loki had to have both her hair and helmet thing glued back on. Both were barely stuck on her and made posing her horrible and her head looked like crap. After re-gluing she looks much much better.
Elsa looks awesome. No real issues with both, other than their Ankle rockers. Like most figures I have picked up lately the ankle rockers suck. They have been put in crooked and/or the notches? that let them point thier feet, won't let them stand flat footed very easy. It's either pointing the foot and bent upwards instead of flat. Picked up Jane Foster today, and I see why the bicep swivel on females don't work properly. It looks great on Lady Loki but on Jane it looks way out of place. Her arms are flailed out un-naturally due to this, like her arms got broke at some point and healed incorrectly. Her right arm is so lose I'm going to have to take it apart and put on some future to tighten it up. I feel like I'm going to break both their arms when posing but I do like the general looks of it. |

Besides, expecting adaptations to be 100% translations is a fool's game.

I beg to differ on John Jr being better than Layton. I mean if you're talking bout early John Jr I might agree. But for some reason he changed his art style later In his career & I didn't like it at all. His early work on IM was awesome: especially his work on "Demon in the bottle" story arc. I consider his version of ironman back then the iconic look for the classic yellow/red armor. A figure based on that armor is long overdue.

As far as I can tell, Tony's always been listed as being 6'5" in armor. Obviously, that probably varied somewhat from artist to artist, even back in the earlier days, but I'm pretty sure he's always been intended to be a couple inches taller than Cap while in armor.

Sure, it would be cool if they could have the actual giant Sentinel robots hunting the mutants, too, just need another $200 million or so from the budget they don't have.

Toho and Toei were doing giant robots in live action long before CGI existed.

I REALLY wish they would do a line of Sentinels. I mean OMG those would be icing on the cake for any display. 90's X-men line they are doing now and Sentinels? I would pick those up and stop collecting all together if I got that....................I would just stop collecting Marvel Legends........for a while.......

Also that's what the 90s cartoon is for. And. Y'know. The comics.

Cartoon is NOT live action. I guess I should have specified since clearly people can't figure out the 18 years for themselves.
