I think I'm going to pass on the Venom Deadpool. I never read the story it's from (some Secret Wars tie in or something, right?) and I have enough Deadpool figures as it is. If I see one in a store, maaaaaybe I'll grab it, but I'm not going out of my way.

Additionally, Japanese companies have proven you can do super heroes in live action and ignore physics. Sentai, Kamen Rider, Garo, and Ultraman are all examples of this.

We live in a post live action Transformers/Pacific Rim world now, and this isn't some 5 minute short Youtube fan film. Cheap rubber suits and recycled powering up scenes doesn't cut it today. Quote:

I think I read somewhere that Hasbro is thinking about doing giant BAFs again, or at least looking into it. Not sure that will really happen but if it did maybe we can get at least one Sentinel from there? |

Me too, closest we can get is finding the Marvel Universe Sentinels from a few years back. He's a bit under scaled but it's not too bad. The other option is the Sentinel BAF from Toybiz, but the aftermarket price on those is usually beyond ridiculous.

I honestly assumed the lack of costumes was a budget thing, at least partially. Superhero movies have gotten much better about making characters who look like they came from a comic but I think it's harder to capture that when you're working on a TV budget. I mean the costumes in the Inhumans show already look cheap as hell, so I'd dread finding out what their attempt at a comic-accurate Black Bolt would look like.

So was Wolverine vs Predator. Comic accurate costumes in movies will work if the actor/actress are in shape & look the part. This leather jacket/pants crap they put the X-men in, sucked! |

I too hate when Hugh Jackman wears pants. I prefer him without them.

costumes can DEFINITELY be done nowadays in films. great example was civil with black panther. what he looked like while filming and what actually was on screen were two different costumes. that's all thanks to CGI. granted some people can't stand CGI or at least too much of it, however yea that's what they have to do if they want more comic accurate movies and characters. |

Hmmm I wouldn’t exactly call the accompanying canine with that figure a wolf.

Not sure if you're serious or not there. Standards are bit higher for prime time television shows than a classic Godzilla movie or Saturday morning Sentai shows.

Also, Transformers and Pacific Rim are too fake looking. They're all CGI with CGI backgrounds. However, my point was that you don't need to throw in countless amounts of money to pull something off. The Alien Queen alone is superior to any CGI concoction. That looks superior to what we got in the actual high budget TV show. He also has a mask. Panel for what?

There's no panel. They're doing a presentation/preview night thing. Just in the morning, instead of night for some reason.

I had all but forgotten about NYCC.
What're we all expecting to see? I doubt they'll be showing off much new stuff, but I'd hope to at least see the final figures from the Deadpool and Spider-Man waves, and maybe another X-figure or Avengers-wave character. Doubt any of the MCU Black Panther figures are going to be shown, sadly.

I 100% disagree with this statement. In fact I think it is the KEY reason why the vast majority of them are currently doing so well in this era of superhero flicks. I believe the concept of relatability appeals to a much wider audience. and speaking on the unrealistic things that occur in movies... THIS IS THE EXACT REASON WHY I STOPPED watching those ridiculous ass Fast and Furious movies...lol...my suspension of dibelief could be held no longer.... Hilarious.
Funko - Game of Thrones: Ghost...not the POP fig...the 'serious' one (3.75" - since it's a 'dire wolf,' it should scale with Legends)... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 10-04-2017 at 10:37 AM.. |

I'm not 100% sure of release dates but the rumored list I found on reddit shows that Black Panther and Deadpool are the first two waves of 2018 so I would expect to see those at NYCC. They may show off a figure or two from either the X-Men or Spiderman waves but I wouldn't plan on it. Infinity War stuff will also be out of the question since they would save it for NYTF.
