i seriously wonder how many "copy-cat" type films we will have trying to mimic this formula to capitalize off of this money making powerhouse.

not to take away from your post..or the BP movie...
but i wonder is there a list that shows the most money movies have made while ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION. The unadjusted lists...while relevant, aren't really telling the whole, truthful story.
That would be REAL list.

All Time Box Office Adjusted for Ticket Price Inflation

I don't agree it represents the real list though. There are too many other variables to consider, like the growth of home media in the late 20th century, something earlier films like Gone With the Wind and Star Wars didn't have to contend with

One of the biggest variables is how long films were in theaters. A New Hope has been released 4-10x compared to just 1 for BP. Who knows how many years Gone with the wind stayed in theaters.

Cool, but highest grossing film is no longer a big deal. I wouldn't be surprised if Infinity War beats it out.

A big part now days is the foreign markets too, even ten years ago you didn’t have half a billion people in China, rusia, and the UAE going to theaters to see American films. Plus just population growth in general, (use of gone with the wind as an example for some reason) the US population in 1940 was 132,000,000 compared to 327,000,000 today. I don’t know all the adjustments you’d have to make to determine highest grossing film ever.

What grade did you drop out of? Black Panther beat Titanic? Third highest grossing film ever? LOL, no.

Titanic: $2,187,463,944
Black Panther: $1,293,761,740

Real facts and legit sources are fun! Highest-grossing films ever (not adjusted for inflation)

Hey, look up there! You didn't say "U.S. film." You said "EVER." In case you didn't know, there's a huge, HUGE, HUUUGE difference between domestic and worldwide gross, son.

Wow, you really aren't bright!
