Welcome back Blue! Good to see you again.

I was talking about this with my friend and I think I know the answer, but I'm not sure. Is Wolverine the only figure in the next Riders Wave?

As far as we know, yes. That doesn't rule out a surprise reveal at SDCC, of course.

The Riders are two to a case, right? One Widow, one Ghost Rider?

I think its three per case, one Widow two Ghost Riders. I can see Logan being 3 per case easy.

Welcome back TBM. I've missed our chats, your pics and your insight. Hoping you'll be sticking around for a bit.

Say what you will, but a lot of those Toybiz movie figures were excellent for their time, and some of them still hold up pretty well. Wanted to fit in a couple of more into this pic to make it an even 10, but it was getting cramped, so here are 6 of my favorites. I still feel that the Spidey from the original movie line tops any movie Spidey that we've received up to this point (although the Vulture Wave Homecoming figures were very, very, good.)

What amazes me is that even though Toybiz did not have the face scanning and computer generated sculpts that Hasbro and many other companies employ today, you can actually tell who are the actors playing these characters for the most part. I've always felt that until very recently, Hasbro has been very hit or miss in this area.

Those look great. I'd love to track down that Goblin, Spidey and Magneto.

I bought MCU Ant Man and Wasp today. Is Wasp supposed to have 3 swappable hands? I have the fists, the flying hands and an extra left flying hand.

I'd agree, except for poor Willem DaFoe there. Shrunken head + melting jowls is not a good combo.

Awww... we got a Gandalf Magneto figure, but no Fassbender Magneto figure. The merger thing is happening too late... since I doubt they will even make another X-men movie after Dark Phoenix with the First Class cast.

Too true. I'd love a Fassbender Magneto and McAvoy Xavier.

Yeah I really wanted some of the First Class cast. Deadpool, Colossus, Domino and Negasonic Teenage Warhead too.

I lucked out and found Magneto and Iceman last year and that was my exact reaction. The skin painting was a bit hit or miss (Iceman in particular looked way too unnaturally pale) but the facial likeness was great. Which confuses me. How is it that 10 years later the facial likenesses somehow got worse (until very recently with the real face printing, which are looking great on a lot of characters)?*

* Not counting the misses like the recent Captain America.

I think (not certain, though I know this has affected other toylines in the past) it has something to do with how certain licensing agreements are set up in regards to actor likenesses. I'm fairly certain, at least, that this applies to that very same Cap figure in the photo.

What, the Hydra pack? The one that's up for pre-order on several online retailers? Or were you referring to the Cyke/Jean or Spidey/MJ packs, in which case you're truly SOL?

Well all three. I mean the fenix/cyke and pete/mj are never evers for sure. Thehydras are up for pre-orders, at 45plus hsipping. Considering dolks are finding em at trus on discount over 40 bucks is kind of a turn off. Plus I really dont want hydra cap britain.

To me Fassbender Magneto is more iconic now than Sir Ian Mckellen Magneto. They could have at least given us a Marvel Select Fassbender Magneto. But yah, well... Patrick Stewart pretty much is Professor X and always will be no matter what happens to his character in future movies.

That pretty much goes without saying but it doesn't change the awesome job McAvoy has done.

Frankly, I prefer McAvoy as Charles. Don't get me wrong, Stewart is like the living image of him, BUT, Stewart's Xavier was too grandfather-esque. If you've read the comics, Charles is a glorified asshole. He may love his X-Men, but he is a selfish man who goes to great lengths to make people see his point of view and does what is in his best interest. McAvoy was perfect at showing us that aspect of Charles that Stewart could never accomplish.

It's kind of like Dumbledore in Harry Potter. Richard Harris was a fantastic Dumbledore, but there was no way a sweet grandfatherly man could pull off Dumbledore's true nature the way Michael Gambon could.

I think a lot of that xavier ass-holishness was retconned in.

I MOSTLY agree with this completely. I think McKellen and Fassbender are pretty much on equal terms, and that's a good thing because they are both amazing as Magneto. Granted McKellen's lines are a bit more corny at times but that is the writing not the acting.

They could not have been picked a better Professor X than Patrick Stewart. Way back in this 90's when this was kind of being bandied about as a thing, that was my biggest casting hope and thankfully it came true!

Nice to be back, Spyne...although my participation is going to be a little spotty in the coming months, simply due to my schedule.

Thanks for the welcome, Jed. However, I've never been far...just lurking from time to time.

Thanks, Triv, the feeling is most definitely mutual. I'm in and out, but still catch up (reading through comments and announcements) when I can. Things should normalize for me soon.

Much love peeps,
Peace and hair grease!
