He is an awesome character. You never read the clone saga? The scarlet spidey costume has been popular for years. I'm currently reading his ongoing. I enjoy it. One of the few marvel titles i still buy.

Who's playing? The new Venom comic is getting rave reviews, and with the movie coming up, I can easily see it happen.

There is truth to this. I found the wave this morning at a Walgreens in southern Tucson.

Since he's a clone of Peter and if you like Spider-Man I think it's reason enough to buy his toys based on whether you like the looks, comic knowledge need not be had.

Honetsly ben reily scarlett spider is my favorite costume for spider man, next to the black costume/symbiote look.

Because Anti-Venom and Mania are two of the four unmade symbiote characters I'd buy in an instant (the others being Mayhem from MC2, and May Parker Venom from Earth X), and I don't want to get my hopes up

Thoughts on the X-Wave?

I hope to hit some walgreens this weekend now. I would still keep my order to support dorkside but I would definitely get Psylocke and Madrox, my two most wanted from the wave.

Yeah, if I find a Madrox in the wild, he's mine. I've got my preorder for the whole wave, but like hell I'm only gonna get one Jamie.

The black suit is my favorite costume and then for me the classic Scarlet Spider with the torn blue hoodie is my second pick, I really dig the homemade look. This is also why I like the homemade suit from Homecoming, it's pretty much an homage to Ben's duds.

We got Anti-Venom in the Hobgoblin wave so I'm assuming you mean Agent Anti-Venom.

I did kinda like the more black future foundation suit ( the one that was reverse of the white one ) just cause it kinda invoked the symbiote costume vibe.

Son, do I look like a fool to you? Of course I mean Flash Anti-Venom, I'm notoriously a Flash Venom fanboy. Didn't realize he was being called 'Agent Anti-Venom' in an official capacity though.

No, I stopped reading Marvel just before the clone saga came out (which if I recall, was shortly after Age of Apocalypse) and I didn't pick Spider-Man up again until the first issue with JMS.

Anyway, they finally arrived:

So my thoughts on the figures:

Doc Ock - A pretty awesome figure, but now I can see why people wanted the tentacles to have bendy wires in them. They are great, but I don't like how two of them point outward from his body, so it looks weird no matter what position you put them in. They also don't seem to stay plugged in very well and one of them always slides downward. Other than that, he is great. The face is exceptional.

Dagger - I wish she had her own upper torso sculpt, as having her collar just painted on looks lame, but she is a solid figure overall. The face looks great and I'm glad they did the version with the long heair as opposed to the short hair version.

Cloak - The cloak is absolutely amazing. It's not as pliable as I would have licked, but I can see why they wouldn't want to that. My only issue is my fear came to fruition as there is no way to actually attach to the cloak. As such, it just sits on the cloak when you don't have the body in there, so one shake and his head falls off. It's a cool idea but poorly implemented. Face sculpt looks great though.

House of M Spidey - He doesn't even come with the webbing they show him have on the box. A complete lackluster figure that looks bad. At least he's painted well.

Scarlet Spider - The paint job is superb and I like the different hands and head despite not knowing the significance of them.

Elektra - A cool figure, but the leg was warped due to the way she was placed in the bubble, so I will need to fix it later. Everything is nice though the tape in the bubble caused her sais to bend in ways I don't think they were supposed to. FOrtunately, they didn't break, but still. Head sculpt is stunning.

DareDevil - He's cool, I guess. Not a fan of the way he looks and I don't like the plastic they used between his billy club. That most definitely should have been a bendy wire so you could actually do something with it. Instead, the stupid thing is in a fixed posiition and it can't even be placed in his holster, rendering the holster pointless. I do like that he comes with fisting hands though.

Sp//dr - One of the shittest BAFs I have ever gotten. Not only does the articulation suck ass, but he can't even stand up properly. He feels like he was originally a Mattel toy that snuck into Hasbro's production line. Hell, Mattel's BAF Metallo had better articulation than this dude.

Those of you that sent me PMs wanting figures, I will be responding to you over the weekend.

Well done Kain! Now I want the new Scarlet Spider. Mainly because of the pokey- things coming out of the wrist. Like a reverse wolverine.

I don't collect this scale anymore, well I don't really collect anything, I just make customs, but what are those stick things coming out of his wrist supposed to be?

Stingers. He had them after his resurrection by the entity The Other; I don't know if he still has them.

I had to Google this. I actually have the Spider-Island series digitally but I never finished it. At the end of that is when Kaine "pops his claws". The story was so badly written I couldn't finish it so I never read that part. At least I have context now. Thanks!

The white "cable" pegs into the end of each billy club and was designed to be removed.

Thoughts on the X-Wave?
Earth X Venom would be the ish...I loved that design and the story of the character behind it...

X-Wave...X-Wave...

Well...I'm not gonna be popular for saying it, but I'm also not going blow smoke up everyone's ass either...with this wave, it's become real apparent that Hasbro is having issues keeping the QC up with the accelerated and massive release schedule they've had this year, and it's kinda dampened my excitement for it a little bit. Hopefully some of you will have better luck than me.

I'll break this down into two posts...

Gladiator: Let's get the elephant out of the room...This figure sucks. Sorry. I know that there was a bunch of hoopla over this character a while back here on the board, but this figure is awful, and to you guys, I'm sorry. QC issues...everywhere. Paint splatter everywhere, a cape that doesn't fit into the hole on his back (you will have to shave it down, just a warning...) fuzzy linework...you know what...I don't want to talk about him anymore. I'm just gonna put this here...I hope the SDCC version was better for you Gladiator fans...

Multiple Man: I can't really say a whole lot about the figure honestly, as I'm not a huge fan of the character or this look. I did enjoy Madrox's Marvel Knights book, so that's the look that I would have preferred. This figure will be coveted though for a number of reasons though, thanks to army builders, and the Gambit customizers who will be sure to want this figure for the new (as far as I can tell) jacket arms and the brown coat (the cowl-less head makes a perfect Johnny Storm if you were to paint the hair blonde.) The head-sculpts though are all terrific though, I must say, but the line-work on mine is fuzzy and the lack of extra hands really hurts it a bit. The heads are also dremeled improperly on mine, and in some cases, too deep. One of them literally sits all the way down on the neck peg with a tilt. I have to lift it upwards for it to sit properly.

Magneto: Not a bad update to the original, but once again, there are paint issues, on mine with the line-work. The cape is the most frustrating thing though...it has some sort of weird fin on the peg that it supposed to cause it to flare out a bit, but all it does is keep the cape from sitting properly on the figure. I also wish that this figure was on the Sunfire body, and not the Bucky Cap. On the positive, I like the effects that we were given, and as a bonus, Magneto's purple hands also fit on the Wonder Man figure (and his fists fit on Magneto vice versa) giving both figures new options they never had before. I also like the boot cut, and the armor on his wrists are removable as well.
