That's probably because I've never seen the 90s cartoon. My exposure to the X Men come from the movies and this forum.

But I do agree, Patrick Stewart is great, but something about Mcvoy's performance is just special. I think I prefer it.

Nope, that would be the Neo-Classic armor from the late '80s:

The Modular Armor is from the early '90s.
Ah gotcha. I got them confused.

Oh man you should not have passed on the Widow. Yeah I hate the hair too. But that figure has one of the best of Hasbro's new 3d face printing results. The face is amazing. It looks like you have Scarlett Johanson standing on your desk, 6 inches tall. None of the prior redhead versions look quite that good. You also can remove the ugly green vest. She has a normal Widow suit on underneath it.

My biggest problem with X-Men Apocalypse (besides, well...Apocalypse) was how much they focused on Mystique.

I actually think they had a pretty solid lineup for that movie. Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Nightcrawler, Quicksilver, Storm a little bit later on. That makes for a solid X-Men team without Wolverine to take away from their character development.

Then they just shoehorn Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique in there and make her the focal point and she's just not interesting. She literally drags the rest of the cast down with her. And it was so obvious at that point that they needed a leading star after Hugh Jackman's departure and they gave it to JLaw strictly based off of her role as Katniss Everdeen. But it was just so forced.

From my earlier comment, I'd like to give the 90s X Men cartoon a try. I find it odd such a popular series only has some really old DVDs as it's only modern home media release.

So I have $26 worth of Amazon credit and I think I want to use it towards a newer Legends. Not sure what to get out of this list:

Cull Obsidian Black Widow
Cull Obsidian Ant-Man
Cull Obsidian Wasp
Cull Obsidian Black Knight
Typhoid Mary
Scream
Bishop (I do have a preorder for it at GameStop but have no clue when they'll get it)
Omega Red

Suggestions? I might cut Ant-Man and Wasp out of that list just because they'll be easier to find for a reasonable price it seems.

Probably Widow since she's more rare.

While not every figure on that list is out yet, Black Widow is currently the hardest to find on it. You should definitely be safe not worrying about Ant-Man and Wasp, they're fantastic figures but they're readily available online and both are double-packed in the case.

That's more than the 90s Spider-Man cartoon and Silver Surfer cartoon have though. Not that those are all that good as X-Men is the only one of the three that still mostly holds up.

It lacked fun....this was the 80;s. Where;s the music? The crazy clothes? THe hair?

So much wrong. The problem is they keep trying to have JLaw and that Magneto guy in the movie because they were big stars, destroying and plot lines for that reason. I do not blame the writers but the heads forcing the writers to keep them in the story.

Back then JLaw was a rising star. I do not really here much about her. Maybe she Katherine Heigl'ed her career. WHat's done is done. Now Disney will run it to the ground. Maybe X-Men will extend the shelf life of the MCU but I think it's hit its peak and now on the downside of a curve.

It seems like we here the MCU has “peaked” every year since 2012. When The Avengers came out, “oh they’ve peaked”, BOOM Iron Man 3 makes over $1 Billion. “They’re making a movie about a tree and a raccoon? Oh that’s it for them, they have nothing else.” BOOM critical and financial juggernaut. I’m going to sum up Phase 3 in the order of their films,”...”they don’t have enough characters to do Civil War, it’s going to suck, nobody knows who Doctor Strange is, GOTG was a fluke, another Spider-Man film?, the first 2 Thor films sucked, an all Black cast with unknown characters”.

You say Marvel Studios has “peaked”, but have ignored the facts. A good film and a good brand will sell. Audiences come out to see good films, and we’ve gotten good to great films. Avengers...Avengers is a multi billion dollar franchise. Wait until Marvel Studios gets their hands on Marvel’s first family and the Children of the Atom. They have now set themselves up for the next 20 years. Dust off your comics and look at what they will have to choose from.

Whatever they do with the X Men I really hope they ditch the team uniforms and allow each character to have a unique look. That's why Jim Lee's designs are so popular and what the Fox movies have been lacking from the very beginning. Start Jean off in her green dress with the yellow mask. Give aCyclops his skullcap, use bright colors, at least for the heroes.

I still hold that it's possible after the headliners from the get go (Iron Man, Captain america and Thor) leave the series, assuming they all do after Avengers 4, or I'm betting at least two of the three will, there is a potential to hurt the draw of the movie. Yes, people will go see a Spider-Man and Black Panther movie, the question will be, will they be part of the (New?) Avengers after Avengers 4 or not. If not, who's going to headline the franchise? If they play it wisely, then yes they've got themselves set for a few more phases at least, but I think it has the capacity to also have Avengers 4 be the peak. It really just depends on where they put all their pieces.

That may be a possibility. The one thing that keeps them going so strong, the one constant is Kevin Feige. His contract is up next year and that will be huge for the studio. Given he has put a GREAT team around him (I think Nate Moore would take over if Feige left), but he has done what is right for all of these films. He knows what he can get out of the coming characters from Fox, and though it’s not a given, if you tell the general audience (the most important audience members financially) that The Fantastic 4 are going to meet the Avengers, or the X-Men are going to interact or more than likely face The Avengers they’ll be all over it. But Marvel Studios have to continue to make good films. Make good films, keep their strong storytelling aspect, and focus on the characters they will be as gold as golden can be.

Oh yes, rest assured you put an X-in front of an MCU movie, people will go see it. Not sarcasm. I'm fully expecting that once the MCU incorporated the X-Men, they will become the focus and be the front and center the Avengers characters have been for the last 10 years. I think most of the casting will not be a problem, the main one is Wolverine, since Jackman did such a great job for 17 years. Who could they possibly find to replace him?

I think the main challenge for the MCU is keeping things interesting, and if Thor Ragnarok and Black Panther (and to a lesser extent GotG) have shown anything it's that they are willing to take risks.
I don't think RDJ, Evans or Hemsworth are vital to the ongoing success either. Hemsworth in particular was a nobody before Thor, if they can make him and Thor into household names there is no reason why they couldn't do it again.

I hope it's the corset. ANYTHING that can get closer to making a perfect custom Selene is a plus in my book.
Given that it's the black costume that Emma has worn, it will likely be either her Dark X-Men outfit, or the one she's been wearing since since around IvX (if not earlier). The Dark X-Men one is close to the old corset look, but not quite. And the IvX one isn't even.

That’s a tough one. I’ve got a friend who insists Marvel should go the theatre route and make new stars (like Hugh Jackman). I’m all for that theoreticaly, but you need an anchor. Someone recognizable to the general movie audiences. In the end, it’s all about the characters. I’ve owned Infinity War on digital for 2 weeks, and I keep watching it over and over. Not because I think it’s the greatest movie ever, but because of how invested I find myself in all of the characters. This is what drives the MCU, and where Fox failed with their movies. They made you care about Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto, and to some extent Mystique, but the rest I could never find myself caring too much about. Call me old school, but I want to care about my characters. I want to see the love Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben have for each other. I want Charles to show us why he believes in Scott Summers so much, and why the X-Men are willing to die for Professor X’s dream. I’m a sucker for all of this. Lol.

I guess it depends on your definition of peaked.

To me, the peak of the franchise is The Winter Soldier. No other movie outside of Black Panther has come close to capturing the story telling, the tone, and excitement The Winter Soldier featured. Even Spider-Man Homecoming and Infinity War.

However, if you just mean a general peak, as in where the quality is and how much money it makes, then it is still reaching for the top. There's been a few downward climbs, but the summit continues to rise so the franchise has to climb back upward again.

Frankly, I don't see why people are constantly harping on these movies. If you are tired of them, or don't like them, you simply don't have to go see them. I would rather go see the next MCU film than another generic no name action movie with a Mary Sue character that is supposed to be human. Or hell, when the MCU films cover other generes, it does it better than most genre films.

For example, I just watched a movie called Red Sparrow last night which is hands down one of the worst spy thriller movies of all time, if not the worst (and the worst movie of 2018). They forgot to put the espionage and suspense in the film. Black Panther did the spy thriller theme so much better and it's considered a super hero film.

Love how Dorkside never once answered my question as to why people who ordered after June 4th are getting their Apocalypse wave shipments before mine: -_-

Quote:
We did receive some X-Men and are expecting more this month. We will likely fill your order with the next round of quantities, estimated this month and possibly into September. This is merely an estimate and we cannot guarantee as the matter of arrival is simply out of our hands. Should you find these items in-stock elsewhere and need to cancel, we can only be understanding. Please contact us with any additional questions or concerns. We apologize for any inconvenience and we thank you for shopping Dorksidetoys.

That’s why I don’t order from dorksidetoys. They seem like they’re usually nearly last to get the shit in but I like how it’s always the “next time” when your order we be fulfilled.

So cancel it and track 'em down elsewhere. Right now's the time to strike, as places are starting to get their waves in.
