Shang-Chi??? Are you kidding me??? Shang-Chi??? Marvel Studios you keep giving more and more reasons to be one of your biggest fans. Bring it on, and bring on the Marvel Legends to go with it. Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp, Black Panther, The Eternals, Shang-Chi, Captain Marvel...this is how you keep the MCU going strong. Oh, and the inevitable introductions of The X-Men and Fantastic 4.

Yup, Marvel has excelled at this in particular and I think that's why it's going strong still 10 years later.

And hell yes, Shang Chi! Definitely the most exciting for me of all the announced Marvel movies.

Thanks, that discount covered shipping to Australia twice over which meant it was actually worth buying.

Captain Marvel looks powerful A.F.

I know nothing about Shang-Chi.(does he have any powers and if not what made him interesting?) but an MCU style, Asian-themed big ass Karate Flick.... . I'M DOWN!! .....because Wu-Tang is for the children!!

" heh-heh....your basic kung fu's no good....you can't move fast enough....and you don't have enough strength..and your body movement's are like a street fighter....it's too easy for me to trip you up."

Yep. Moon Knight, Thing, Songbird, the Lehnsherr family as a whole, Kitty Pryde, Sasquatch, Doc Samson, Justice, Volcana, Gert Yorkes, Two-Gun Kid, Sabra, Iceman (half-Jewish on his mom's side)... and that's just off the top of my head.

Dudddddeeee! Yes! Marvel Studios is the shit! Their casting is top notch and not to mention that They can turn little to unknown characters into household names. Like The GOTG. I can’t wait until the add the F4 and X men.

You get it, you always get it Tim. I wonder who's on their list of names for the Title role. What's funny is every time I see anything Marvel Studios related, I take a look at my collection and say "we got another one". Cannot wait to add more MCU Marvel Legends to my display.

The Shang-Chi news brought a tear to my eye just because my mother (who knows very little of comics) asked me, "Who's Shang-Chi?" Never thought I'd hear her say that name. I'm excited for this!

As much as I'm excited by a Master of Kung Fu movie, I've expressed my want for the figure on this thread for years, there is a great deal of deeply offensive backstory written into the character that will need to be cleaned up before unveiling Shang to the masses. Most notably a major element of his origin as a ward and apostolate of Fu Manchu. Yeah, that can't be brought foward in telling his story.

Normally, I'm a proponent of telling these stories 'warts and all,' but that dog ain't gonna hunt...With that bit being changed, along with some other minor tweaks, I look foward to the flick.

Given the rights issues, I don't think they're gonna have his dad be Fu Manchu.

Maybe it'll be the real Mandarin that was hinted at in that one short.

I'm thinking less about rights and more about age-old stereotypes that simply don't fit modern sensibilities. Fu Manchu is up there with Aunt Jemima and an insult that is too easily pivoted away from.

EDIT: also, Fu's not his real father...said Luke.

I think Ludi Lin (Zach from Power Rangers 2017) would make an excellent choice. He's young, handsome, and charismatic, and was one of the better characters in the Power Rangers reboot. Doesn't hurt that playing the Black Ranger also gave him a little bit of martial arts experience as well.

That said about Lin...can't say that I'm all that excited. Meh. I applaud the forward thinking, though I would have been happier if they would have went with Silk instead. Would have been easier to introduce her as well, with her origin being directly tied to Spidey. I'd rather have Marvel working it over Sony, who is rumored to be looking into doing it on their own as part of their extended Sony Spider-Verse.

It doesn't help that 90 percent of the well known Asian characters happen to be tied with the X-Men franchise in some way, and Disney is not quite able to work with them yet.

On a side note, would be a good opportunity to bring in the first of our cancelled Netflix heroes in Iron Fist for a cameo, or even as something central to the plot.

Precisely what I thought. No way will that fly these days.

Oh that's what I was referring to. I can't see them using Fu Manchu as the character basically became a shorthand for racist yellow peril depictions. Even when they were discussing the Mandarin back in the day I recall them using Fu Manchu as an example of what they wanted to avoid.

I recall dude who used to post here lamenting that we'd never get a Legends Yellow Claw figure because of political correctness and snowflakes or whatever...and it was like bruh, you ever actually paid attention to Yellow Claw? That ain't gonna fly lmao.
