That head reminds me...
I think it was Triv that commented on disliking Beast's Logan-like hairstyle, something about the "Jim Lee pointy 'do"... but didn't both Logan and Hank's hairstyles predate Jimbo? I mean, Hank's pointy hair was as early as his Gray Beast transformation (1972 iirc), and Logan's hair has been like that since the late 70s. If anything, I think Rob Liefield is responsible for the proliferation of the hairstyle, specifically in X-Force (and, of course, his own Image books), though plenty of other artists, Lee included, were doing the hairstyle (or, in the case of Logan and Hank I suppose, exaggerating it). Not really trying to prove or disprove anything, just a topic that led me on a bit of an info dive.

I know I shouldn't want that Wolverine. I know I have the exact same figure from the motorcycle version. But he has a hat. Damn it Hasbro.

Oh yeah, real quick:
Got a few ML bits and bobs I'm gonna throw up on eBay next week, but I figured I'd give you all first crack at them. Prices are negotiable, willing to trade as well. FULL FIGURES: Thor (Allfather wave) w/ Mjolnir Nick Fury (MCU, Agents of SHIELD three-pack) w/ twin pistols BAF PARTS: Sandman torso Ultimate Green Goblin left leg Kingpin left arm Brood Queen torso (unless someone has parts to complete the Brood Queen that they'd be willing to sell/trade to me) MISC PIECES: Silver Sable head, shoulder straps, thigh pouches, and belt (belt was cut off between pouches on the back, clean cut that can be glued) DC BAF PARTS: DCUC Imperiex left leg DCUC Atom Smasher left arm DCM Clayface head and pelvis DC BAF COMPLETE: DCM Lex Luthor (w/ alternate Darkseid head and Mother Box accessory, right wrist joint is frozen and I'm afraid to move it due to possibility of breakage) I'd prefer to sell Lex, the rest I'm willing to do trades for if you got the goods. Offer lasts until Monday.

Got my X-wave today...I'm as giddy as a school girl. All are solid figures!
I'm not wanting the weapon X figure...just the BAF piece. Anyone interested? |

Skullfire, Meanstreak, Metalhead, Bloodhawk, Cerebra, Krystalin, Desert Ghost, Serpentina, La Lunatica, Junkpile, Brimstone Love, Shadow Dancer, Controller 13, Halloween Jack, Master Zhao, Quiver, Book, Victor Ten Eagles... those are all the X-Men 2099 characters I can remember without looking it up.
Loved that old Skullfire figure. I'd really like Hasbro to take a stab at more 2099 characters.

Maybe this is something that would be considered for Hasbro Pulse exclusives. The 2099 roster are well-loved, but 94% of their possible consumer base would be collectors, the type who would want to buy as much of the team as possible rather than waiting for a drip-feed through other waves.
Especially since, for being X-Men, they have very little direct connection to the more familiar faces of the franchise, and subsequently would probably be pretty low on the list of "who else we can throw into a wave" characters for future X-Waves.

Not really trying to prove or disprove anything, just a topic that led me on a bit of an info dive. I'm the one who associated the hairstyle with Jim Lee (and the various other X-Men artists at the time) since they just seemed to be everywhere in the X-books at that time. The super exaggerated way in which they were drawn didn't help matters either. It was like they couldn't figure out what do to give characters to confirm they were feral at the time. |

Got super lucky and found the whole X-Men wave at Wal-Mart. This is a first for me.
I haven't opened them all yet. I really like Beast, but I don't think I like the yelling face a lot. It is ok, but it could be a lot better. I would have preferred an extra head instead of the extra two hands they included. Oh well. They will probably release a variant at some point like SDCC or whatever. There isn't a whole lot that they can use this body mold for. |

I really wish they would start releasing the 2099 lines in Omnibus form. At least Spider-Man if no one else.

Nice score. The Caliban wave is hitting my Gamestops... found Jubilee today... already got Gambit and Forge from Best Buy last week... all I need left to find is Beast now. And I also hope there is an alternate thinking blue Beast headsculpt one day... maybe they are saving it for a possible vintage wave re-release down the line. |

Found the X-Men wave at Walmart in Warrenton. Left Weapon X and Jubliee. Canceled my Amazon Pre-order except for Link and Skullbuster. Skullbuster's head fit on Demolition man's body and looks decent with the black and metal. Kitbash custom with no repainting needed.
