Started looking at the photos again and had to completely edit my post as my opinion changed some heh.
Overall they look pretty good although I question if it is an optical illusion or if Spidey 2099's hands are rather disproportionate to his body. The others are growing on me the more I look at the photos and I would like to add an Ultimate Spider Woman to my collection. Quote:
I did not like the Toxin figure and I do not like the Anti-Venom either. The MS Anti-Vanom looks much better and has better texture and the old Toy Biz Toxin was much better of a figure. I know Toxin is on Eddie now, but the new design just does nothing for me. I do think the ML Toxin mold looks better as Anti Venom. Almost as if they thought of him during the sculpting and changed it to Toxin at the last minute.

I teach kids and i tell them it's better to say something than regret never saying it. Obviously there are times when it's kb your best interest to stay quiet.
But essentially we must complain. To many products die because of lack of knowledge or care especially when there is no competition. I lived Breyers Ice cream but 5 years ago they changed their ingredients and added cheap filler that they claimed improved the product. In reality it destroyed the best big brand available. Long story short, complain and bad mouth it much as possible was the right thing to do. Not enough did and its now just trash like every other big corporate owned brand. If we as consumers truly care we will demand better from them. They can shove that Jubilee baf you know where. Give me My real Baf. Like you, I also have a background in child education and guidance. I have taught, managed after-school programs, directed community centers, and worked as a child & family intensive in home therapist for kids involved the NYC family court system (kids in and out of juvenile remand - aka juvenile detention/jail)....so I can appreciate both advocacy and dissent as it pertains to systems of power and "faceless" bureaucracies. What I have expressed to kids (and adults) in the past is that American history provides many object lessons demonstrating the power of boycotts. In this modern world of consumer driven hyper-materialism, the only recourse available to us...the only tool in the shed that makes the powerful pay attention...is keeping your dollars in your pocket. Whether we are talking about the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955 (protesting segregation and "Jim crow" south), or the more recent divestiture movements on college campuses nationwide (aimed at encouraging universities to refrain from investing in the fossil-fuel industry)...stopping the flow of money is quite effective in humbling the powerful. If you are truly that upset about where the ML brand is going, my suggestion to you is not to buy any of them. Speak with your wallet, because that's the only thing to which corporations will respond. I suspect, based on some of your posts, that there are a few new ML's that you buy in spite of your lamentations. If that's the case, then you might be undermining your own hopes that Hasbro will take corrective measures. If you do still buy MLs, then you may want to focus on what they are doing right so that they continue to do (at least) those things correctly. As we both know from our shared experience of working with young people, you get better results using positive reinforcement than you do employing its negative counterpart (with respect to complaining - boycotting is a different matter entirely and more political in nature) . As I have often shared with clients/students/peers/colleagues/friends....you comin' up with all lemons? Make some lemonade baby! Tell them what they are doing well, and they (Hasbro) just might be more receptive to constructive critique. Keep in mind that I do not disagree with you, it's just that I have read your complaints about this very issue on multiple occasions and you seem pretty vexed about the matter. Why frustrate yourself so? Either boycott or find something redeemable about the toys you are spending hard earned cash on...otherwise, you might be spitting into the wind. |

Yeah, I agree. Seems a little too big for the body. It might be the way it's all posed in the picture.

I get Dreyer's for my basic ice cream needs. Ben and Jerry's is my favorite, just because of Americone Dream.
You're right that people should speak up if they're upset about something or just requesting something older be brought back. The problem is like you said not enough will bother to do it. Then there's always the probability Hasbro (in this case) would say something along the lines of "We appreciate your feedback on our products, but the costs to do what you're asking for are too high so we don't care." Unless you could convince Hasbro you'd boycott them entirely until they fix it, but I don't imagine the threatened loss would budge them. I'm a haagen dazs man as i enjoy the purer ingredients. I also think Hasbro just will not care. But voicing is better than sitting quiet and doing nothing. I am excited by the new figures because they're new, but looking at the Anti Venom has me shaking my head. It's a minimal work figure with basically two colors which is why they picked it. Glenn Webb said something i deem true. Hasbro tells their employees to Google the cheapest version of the characters they have in mind and use that for reference. Hasbro does not sculpt much anymore. They use the plastic accessories which is fine. But they should be improving and perfecting paint jobs. I doubt any of the figures will have great paint work. I can see DD having red shading but then again this is Hasbro, most likely just a monotone colored figure. Here's hoping for an extra head sculpt of an unmasked DD and a nunchuck with a real chain. Pretty sad when that can excite me as a collector. |

I am looking at the ebay and BBTS, for the new new SPiderman Legends, Spidey has those duck feet from Superior.Looks a bit like the animated series spiderman....the other nitpick would be the eyes....always loved the McFarlane look or ROmita.
DD look like a monotone figure as expected with a white STRAIGHT plastic chuck? They should have sculpted that DD sign. |

I hear you, but as my post alluded to (I detailed a list of personal druthers I have with the ML series), you are preaching to the choir when complaining here...or at the very least, when complaining to me.
Like you, I also have a background in child education and guidance. I like the educated response. Very calming and soothing. Believe me I am not an angry person...but you are right about vexed. I always believe that it's better to be honest than to sugar coat things. We may have slightly different philosophies. Not a bad thing imo. Sometimes when we tip toe around issues, we end up lying to others and ultimately ourselves, believing rather than doing. I choose to say things because I believe when I say it it can open peoples eyes and to see what I see. I would like to think i am NOT nit picking. I believe in betterment of the self, of society. We should always strive for self improvement. But I extend it towards other things, others around me and even the companies who products I buy. But because of our different philosophies, we differ of how we perceive and handle things. I understand lemons make lemonade. I choose to think I can turn a lemon into something more tasty like hard lemonade...lol |

Hard Lemonade! Nice play! I don't think you are angry. I complain a lot also. Maybe there is a different way to look at this? Do you think these new Legends do anything well? I like some of the new bucks there just need to be more...maybe a tall lanky but diesel...Namor-like... Long (lol) Edit: Or more alien designs. I have this idea that if Hasbro were to implement a Stardust design, they might have lupine-like legs that could work with a Wolfsbane (work with me here) Im not suggesting that you sit on your hands (or words). I say use what you know about the system. Start threads about design improvements or potential character/team trees. There is an uncomfortable meme developing in media that dismisses fan complaints on the web as an unreasonable-fanboy/vocal minority. In the last few years, it seems, at least to me, that Habro has been responding to sites like this one. You have good ideas. Don't let some corp. dev. dunce scoff of what you might add as some stereotype from their limited perspective. Or....or you could do whatever the hell you want LOL I'm just adding my (unsolicited) 2 cents... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 01-14-2015 at 09:28 PM.. |

Or....or you could do whatever the hell you want LOL I'm just adding my (unsolicited) 2 cents... They exist, on top of my heard that was the first answer to the question. THey have a nice ankle pivot. The Spiderman 2099 has a nice metallic sheen. Spidey comes with extra head and hands. That half masked head was really nice. I would have preferred an unmasked and a mask in hand type of sculpt. To order from BBTS or to not.....I will wait for Spidey. THe Avengers may gather at some point. I try my best to wait. Usually my scedule allows time to run to Target or TRU in the mornings before the scalpers begin their pillage. But still....so tempting. Maybe I like the thrill of the hunt and picking the ones that have the best paints.I remember I ordered my Spidergirl from Amazon and her eye was missing the white paint. Pretty big piece of paint was missing....which bothered me. My Boomerang was a mess as the inseted his boomerang holder before the paint dried....lol BUt DD is more disappointing than I thought. I said I expected little from Hasbro but the shock of seeing it in it's really two tone red without any highlights and the DD sign was just painted on...one the bright side they included the DD on his chest. Am I questioning my strategy? I have no strategy, this is the how my mind works (history/perspective/corny jokes/left-field non sequiturs). I'm not trying to change your opinion. This isn't a battle of wills. That would be silly...we're talking toys here. These discussions are part of what make forums entertaining to me...something to do while I'm watching the Clippers play the Blazers...if that's what you meant. I think the ankles are good too, but I do miss the toes. We don't get that same "lean in" that we used to..... That paint on 2099 Spidey is the same as the paint on Kallark, Nova, and Iron Monger...right? That paint does have a nice luster and I'd like to see a new Surfer sporting a silver coat. Silver Surfer with swap out hands like that Spiderman/Ironfist is a must (a big hope of mine). In general, I think swap-out hands rep a significant upgrade. That Spiderman reminds me of my favorite artist (during childhood)...JR JR. A fact that makes it my most wanted of both lines...of 2015. I'm not sure I want Pete unmasked though...my experience with Parker was that he was always dogged about concealing his identity. That fact gave his going public with registration that much more weight. Seems unnatural to me...but whatever, you want what you want. DD...I already know the order for me will be Toy Biz's Urban DD, with Hasbro's 1st DD following, and finally this latest taking bronze...still medal worthy. Although, my reasons for ranking it third are not because of the face/head. Some people have long faces and DD tends to be somber and dour looking in my mind's eye. Not to mention the fact that the pic in question could be distorted. As long as the whole fig is 8 heads tall, it's in proportion. My beef is, standard buck-itis....I agree that more detail would have brought this one "home" a bit more. In fact, if they could work in little details like boots or raised insignias (as you suggest) the bucky-buck would go a lot further (looked best on Panther and it will look even better on Surfer - see a trend?) I will add my own gripe about the HobGob Baf. What's with those shoulders and bicep(s) swivel(s). Not sure I'm going to like that... Your passion for perfection seems related to the hunt. I understand the idea that if you're going to devote long hours in the "search", you want the best of a variety of variables. I don't hunt. I order. If I do have a QC issue (barring something broken), I consider it a patina: something to distinguish it as different. However, I did have to get a new Boomerang as well...the paint on my first one was screwed. I did actually get the replacement from a TRU... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 01-15-2015 at 12:20 AM.. SLightly off topic, I was looking forward to the Watcher Diamond Select re-release, and about a week ago it was cancelled. I read on MArvelousNews(I think) that it was cancelled due to Disney's war with Fox.
So so future FF/Xmen figures in the next few years? I wonder if the was the real reason Mystique was canned from DST. |

Well, I think I would have to pay you something since I appropriated it from you. However, I'm a little light in the wallet at the moment thanks to the ML's Allfather wave. A condition that will endure for a bit, with Spidey's wave soon to follow (still deciding whether or not I'm doing the whole case). Buuuuut, if you're worried about recognizing someone...maybe you'd like to acknowledge Paul Robeson. I thought of him and his rendition of "Oh, Let My People Go" when you made that comment....were he still alive, you might owe royalties for your slight rewording
![]() @Pinoy Thanks for the heads-up, man. Looking forward to your videos! I actually think I'm going to switch King Thor's partially plate-mailed left arm with that of Odin's bare limb ("rainy day" resale value be damned - not that I really care about that as a loose fig collector). Odin's arm seems a bit too naked for me.... |

I hope that riff with Fox gets ironed out...It was irritating that Marvel couldn't use the Surfer for their Planet Hulk 'toon due to licensing issues...a problem that is only exacerbated by our inability to get FF related figs (oh Surfer, wherefore art thou). Marvel Studios seems to be making some headway with Sony; it's looking like Spidey will make it into Civil War/Avengers flicks. The irony that Marvel would have to wheel and deal for the rights to its own characters looms heavily in the air. Note to DC: never..ever..sell the rights to your characters in perpetuity...even when/if (unlikely given their acquisition by WarnerBros) you are threatened with bankruptcy/insolvency. Sucks... |
