That would be nice, man. Honestly, I have been curious about the fig. I've picked it up on many occasions, but it never made it home with me. I'm also curious about your collection and have noticed many of your BST Toy Biz treasures!
I know you didn't direct this to me, but your comment piqued my interest and makes for a good discussion. I definitely agree with you about the fluid nature of Marvel characters (or any comic pantheon: DC, Image, etc...). A phenomenon that only picks up speed as characters gain popularity/fans and evolve beyond their origins. That said, I also think the foundation/origin of a hero (or villain) is important when understanding the character as a whole. I'd like to borrow one of your examples, if you don’t mind. Wolverine, while being one of the most iconic X-men, still has strong ties to the Hulk. Wolverine was a great foil for the Hulk considering that they are both essentially monsters, that just happen to do heroic things. This relationship has been played up by Marvel throughout the history of the characters in spite of the dramatically different directions the two have gone in since their first encounter. The Hulk vs 'toon (one of my fav Marvel animations) touched on this original relationship. The two have a shared moment (on the roof of a building) in the Infinity Gauntlet with Warlock even confirming their psychological connection and similarity in temperament. I can’t even begin to recall all of the times Wolvie and Banner have fought and touched upon the “kindred spirts” quality to their relationship. I tend to start at the beginning when trying to conceptualize the ethos behind these heroes/villains and I believe origins to be very important to the fundamental understanding of any character. I know I’m barking up a different tree than what you were getting at, but what you wrote stirred these thoughts … About Marvel Studios vs Fox/Sony/the world (?); it’s all above my pay grade and I’m still scratching my head. I thought this licensing stuff was germane only in the case of movies. Then I find out that Surfer will be replaced by Beta Ray in the Planet Hulk ‘toon ; another all-time fav Marvel animation of mine that would have been even more satisfying had Surfer made it into the work. I wouldn’t actually care as much if these licensing issues were isolated to the films (I’m not very invested in the movies – I believe ‘toons can be better from a budget and casting perspective, but that’s another discussion), but to think I might not get another Surfer fig because Fox won’t relinquish their hold on all Kirby FF related properties makes me cringe. It seems like these squabbles are spilling over into ancillary subsets of comic culture and I’m aggravated by that fact… It's up to us to put the onus on Disney. They are the ones punishing the fans, not Fox or Sony. Disney getting marvel is the cause in reality. Last edited by VashTS; 01-16-2015 at 11:43 AM.. |

I know that's what they said...but may not be true considering the Watcher got canned. Simply putting 2 and 2 together.

I did not know that they we replacing Surfer. But i find people, and from what i gather in your statement, blaming Fox. I actually think Fox is doing nothing wrong. It's all Disney. I enjoy every studio s version of heroes as the differences help drive competition or so it should.
It's up to us to put the onus on Disney. They are the ones punishing the fans, not Fox or Sony. Disney getting marvel is the cause in reality. I can dig what you are saying regarding ascribing blame to the appropriate party (ies). However, as far as onus and responsibility are concerned, I think there is plenty to spread around. lol Marvel sold these rights when they were facing bankruptcy years back. This all occurred well before Disney acquired them. It's not Disney's fault that Marvel managed its business poorly and lacked the forward thinking to recognize that their movie rights held a great deal of intrinsic value. They were scrambling to remain solvent as a company and they bartered away their future. The money they received at the time, did not even stave off their eventual acquisition by a larger publisher....So, what was the point? Now, Marvel as a company is dealing with multiple levels of blow-back regarding some of their most storied intellectual properties. The good news is, Marvel's getting back many of said properties and companies like Sony seem to be willing to negotiate. Edit: You may not want to 'quote' me, I tend to write a lot 'ish! ![]() Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 01-16-2015 at 01:09 PM.. Reason: grammar and stuff.... |

I may have to use at bluemarvel instead of quoting lol.
I enjoy long responses...it shows intelligence and caring about a subject. I learned about Beta aged Surfer. I like letting things, new ideas are lamenting on them. I feel Disney is simply jerking the fan base...i mean using us as guinea pigs,so. We can get upset at Fox. As a consumer i appreciate competition as it spurs innovation and keeps prices in check and is beneficial. But it pissrs me off that they are denying us properties that we want because of their war. I remember reading that marvel doesn't even want the FF mentioned in their offices or something to that extent. |

Batroc...is nice...but any news of a Legends Hulkbuster...you know the one everyone wants from the movie. The most sought after figure from the line.
I heard a rumor about it being in the 2nd avengers Wave, but I will not hold my breath as it's just rumors from different forums. But according to Marvelous, next up is the Thanos BAF and no Buster listed : ( |

Even if a movie Hulkbuster was announced, it'd probably just be a repainted Mandroid BAF with slight sculpting changes, which certain folks here would probably decry as just another lazy effort from Hasbro.

A movie Hulkbuster would be nice, but lets face it, IT will not happen in legends scale. Our only hope is that Marvel Select have one coming. But until then I am happy with the old Toy Biz one.

A Madroid repaint has to do if they will not put the effort in. The Mandroid with tooling may work. |

I've never seen it out of the package, so I guess I shouldn't be so critical. I don't like the hands or the feet, but the head is cool. I get that it's stylized and deliberately cartoonish. I just don't like the style choice for the body of the sculpt. It reminds me of Humberto Ramos' art (big hands and feet), a comic talent that I have a love hate relationship with (I'm probably courting another "hey, wait a minute" moment here

Yeah, I've been tempted to get that figure and harvest parts to make a good GG with that style suit, but since it's based off Mr. Ramos's art, I think I'd be better off just sculpy-ing it over a base body, haha. But man, those new Legends look DY-NO-MITE! I usually hate ML's that use the Bullseye body, but Iron Fist actually looks really fun! If only he had the yellow/ green suit with the disco collar... But I think Hawkeye is gonna be a must-buy for me, and maybe even Machine Man...
I normally take a "wait and see" approach to these new ML's, but I'm pretty excited about owning every fig from this line! So far, they look nutz. Fist, like Quicksilver before him, seems perfect for that buck. I'll hold on to my classic Fist |

lol having problems here....
....but the swappable hands make this new Danny the superior figure. All this before even laying eyes on Machine Man! I'm very happy about Machine Man, in case you didn't read that last bit...I can't wait until my pre-order arrives!!! ....Unfortunately, waiting, is likely exactly what I will end up doing given the Cali shipyard strike. I'm a firm believer in fair compensation and benefits for workers, but I must admit I'm a little concerned at the potential shipment delay.... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 01-17-2015 at 09:03 PM.. |

No way! I wish! I'd be posting pics of them if I had them. I'm still waiting for my pre-order to ship. I ordered the line 2 weeks ago and I believe that the strike is going create a delay. The strike I'm referring to delayed a bunch of orders for Doomsday Unleashed (fortunately not mine) along with a number of Mattel DCUC figs. To my knowledge, they are still striking. The seller communicated that I should expect a 2/4ish delivery, but if what I believe about the strike is true, I'm doubtful that date will hold.
