Picked up Cannonball last night because of Target's toy sale, and... gosh, he's disappointing.

To the point where, later last night, we snagged the old Cannonball/Domino two-pack, minty-fresh sealed, for $30.

So that's a thing that happened.

Yeah, he's a great half a figure. But he's half a figure. And as such unless you're going for dynamic action scene posing, the 10-12 year old version is the better one, which is almost unheard of with Legends these days.

He's not even that. He's got Shatterstar's arms, which means he can't lower his arms to his sides all the way, and on ours, the glove cuffs are too thick at points, which makes the hands pop out of the wrists very easily when posing.

He's a decent display piece, that's it. Not a good figure.

BUT OF COURSE, I'll buy the inevitable redux that comes with swappable legs. Because I'm a goddamn sucker when it comes to mutants.

I just picked up the 80th Caps, Iron man and Thor for $5 each and the Korg pack for $13 at my Walmart. Why’d these go on clearance so fast?

I'm still partially thinking it was a mistake on Walmart's part because this shit doesn't make sense. The line launched in mass near the middle of August (although some people were already getting them earlier than that) and from what I was seeing it was moving pretty fast except for the MCU two packs, but then before the end of September they were price slashing the line like it was old bread. Looking back at the First Ten Years line last year it also didn't take terribly long to start going on sale from an end of summer launch but it wasn't until the holiday shopping season and a number of those sales expired leading to my Walmarts hoarding up Red Skulls.

Reading about Kirby requests, I would love the man himself to go with my Stan (Yep I got a China one, and I prefer the body to the new one).
Also what's the chance of getting Celestials BAF (I have a mega clix of Zirrel The Tester), with a likely Eternals wave?
I know The Eternals are not the most popular team out there, but I love them just because the psychedelic designs of Jack. Hope the movie does well so we can get:
Sersi
Ikaris
Thena
Ajak
Makkari
Sprite
and Druig,
With the Deviants Kro and Karkas as BAF as he's huge.

This would only leave Zuras, the Reject and Gilgamesh left.
With all the crazy colours and designs could be a cracking display.

I love Sersi, and she will be done, but what outfit? Classic Kirby, 80's or leather jacket?
And will she come with a transmutated pig ( she's supposed to be Circe rom the odyssey).
Also Ikkaris is a good shoe-in.

I may get flack for this, but I MUCH prefer her 90's bomber jacket look with the black/red colors to her classic green outfit. Now, there's been some other renditions of her in green that have been decent but as far as what she wore when she first joined the Avengers, I hated it.

I would post pictures but I'm not savvy anymore.

Ah, the 90's...never dissapoint in the sartorial sense.

But joke aside, I get it. We all like the heroes as they appear-mostly- when we discover them.
I "discover" her in the Avengers when it was drawn by Al Milgrom, blessed him.
But saying that there was a cover from th Gaiman mini-series that looks fantastic.
My guess will be green, but who knows.
Anybody for Avengers team in bomber jackets? It makes me die, cause I remember the mid 80's wearing that jacket (in black thou), so my guess is the artists at the time wore them too.
Fun times.

I'd gladly take a team of Avengers in bomber jackets...ironically I got into the Avengers in one of their lowest periods, right when Walt Simonson's run was going, not so long, about a year maybe, after I got into the X-Men. So the Sersi i was introduced to was her one piece fluffy swimsuit look. It never appealed to me for some reason and when they changed to the bomber jacket looks I was thrilled.

Haven't watched the Legion series yet but he could be part of A0A wave. Granted he wasn't IN AoA but he was the cause of all of it. I could take or leave him though honestly.

My wife and I haven't watched anything past Season 1, but that show is fantastic and trippy as hell.

I'd love a Legion figure, but how would one best do that, design-wise? His patient garb, while probably the most recognizable for the character, would be a bit... we'll say lacking in taste. He could be in the New Mutants costume, though his time in that outfit was brief. His outfit from his own series (orange sweatpants and black/red padded vest) would probably be the most likely, since it'd definitely make him stand out in a package.

I suppose, if they did a release of Doug Ramsey in the New Mutants uniform (a la Dani), they could include a Legion head. To tell the truth, though, I'd love him in his 'orange track jacket' outfit from the show (during his time at Clockworks), and an alternate comic-style head.

Thanks for the replies and wish list suggestions of what you'd like to see for a retro/vintage Spider-Man wave. Personally, I'd love to see more Spider-Man waves, but I know my wallet would never let me.

@Nash - I like your picks for your vintage Spidey wave. I hope you're feeling better, by the way. For a female figure, if we don't get Firestar (which would be a BIG mistake on Hasbro's part to be honest), I'd say make a classic/first appearance Mary Jane Watson or a John Romita Sr. based Gwen Stacy with an alternate swappable M.J. head. I would especially love for a new Spider-Man wave to have some kind of Doctor Octopus figure with bendable wire tentacles. I'm still curious as to why Hasbro passed on it the first time around, especially since Toy Biz did a great job with their bendable Ock tentacles accessories. If we get a classic Doc Ock repainted, I'd love brighter suit colors more akin to the John Romita Sr. run and a new head sculpt of Doctor Octopus with blue sunglasses and a new smug smiling face like the Toy Biz Marvel Legends figure had. Since we're getting Superior Octopus next year, though, I don't know if they'd make another Ock toy so quickly, but it'd still be awesome. A new classic red suit Daredevil would also be wonderful, since I missed him the last time.

@Ultra Seven - I'd love a more classic Lizard Marvel Legends figure too, as the Build-A-Figure version wasn't as good as I was hoping it'd be. Then again, to be perfectly honest, I'd love new classic figures of Sandman, Lizard and Rhino, since not everyone can afford to buy the Build-A-Figure wave or the Build-A-Figure itself sold separately on Ebay for ridiculous prices. I agree with your list too, as a Steve Ditko looking Spider-Man would be, no pun intended, amazing.

I'm still hoping we see some kind of figures for Chameleon, Sandman, Rhino and Doctor Octopus (as I'm not a fan of Doc Ock's Superior Spider-Man or Superior Octopus identities), new classic figures for Spider-Man and his villains like Green Goblin, Boomerang, Shocker and Hobgoblin (preferably with alternate heads for the Goblins and a new better Goblin glider accessory for Hobgoblin), and the rumored classic Electro. Civilian figures like Peter Parker, Flash Thompson, Aunt May, J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson and Harry Osborn would just be icing on the cake. Heck, they could even do Ravencroft or Raft prison jumpsuit figures for Spidey villains like Otto Octavius, Norman Osborn, Cletus Kasady, etc., and I'd buy those toys too.

@Tim (and everyone) - I am envious that you've not only found the 80th anniversary figures for $5, but that you'd found them at all. My local Wal-Mart stores haven't had anything new since the Build-A-Figure Molten Man wave. My most sought after one is 80th anniversary Captain America and being perpetually broke doesn't help matters. Maybe I can look again on the next payday. I just wish we'd get a Cap figure with an alternate smiling head, instead of the constant angry/constipated looking Cap heads that Hasbro has been giving us for the past few years.

Thanks for reading and I hope you all are having a great day.

I’ll eat up any classic Spider-Man Hasbro wants to offer. It irritates me that they tend to skew more modern, since that’s not really my jam. I think the vintage waves would be a great place to give us a different focus, including the pipe-dream of civilian characters (how about a JJJ on the Klaue body?), and more classic interpretations of characters they’ve already done. I got into the Marvel Legends line a little late, so it would also be great to have another shot at essential characters who have sky-rocketed in value, such as Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Electro, Shocker, Sandman, and Rhino.

@Ultra Seven - I agree, we need more vintage/classic Spider-Man figures. Too many of the Spider-Man waves lately have been filling up with more modern characters or C-list characters that shelf warm and go unsold. For every popular figure out like Mysterio or Green Goblin, there are 20 unsold Jackal and Six-Armed Spideys seen at local stores. More modern characters like the yet-to-get-a-figure female Electro and the upcoming Superior Octopus figure don't have me as excited as buying a classic Electro figure or a Doc Ock with overdue bendy wire tentacles. And since Doctor Octopus is my all-time favorite Spider-Man villain, the current static tentacles accessories the 2018 figure had are incredibly disappointing. Maybe they could re-release the 2018 classic Ock figure with new alternate head sculpts from different eras (like a John Romita Sr. likeness head or a current Doc Ock head based on the recent "Superior Spider-Man" run) and repainted brighter suit colors to justify the re-release with the new bendable tentacles.

I'm also surprised Hasbro doesn't re-release figures with either new bodies that have more improved articulation and new head sculpts or re-release previous figures with new head sculpts, accessories, repainted suit colors, etc. Just because Hasbro already made one version of a figure, doesn't mean they shouldn't make it again. I see responses like "Hasbro has already had a figure of classic Green Goblin." Yes, they did -- three years ago, that was insanely hard to find (for me at least), is now $60 and up now on Ebay, and not everyone could find it at the time and/or was collecting Marvel Legends figures then. The same for Build-A-Figure characters like the Sandman and Rhino. Not everyone can afford to buy all of the figures, and some of the characters per wave were characters fans didn't know and/or didn't want to buy, leaving their BAF toy incomplete.

I'm hopeful that for 2020, Hasbro releases more classic versions of figures for popular Marvel heroes, villains and civilians, especially if a vintage Spider-Man wave gets made. I'd love to add all-new classic figures of the Chameleon, Sandman, the Lizard, Electro, the Green Goblin, Boomerang, the Rhino, the Shocker and the Hobgoblin to my collection.

However, time (and most likely the New York Toy Fair in February) will tell.

I saw that and it isn't really that good of a deal. Not that I even have $50 to spend on toys right now, but I would be more inclined to try and buy some if it was Buy 2 Get 1 Free or something. This way, I could finish off my Wendigo wave.

I’ve been saying for a while it would be a great idea to release something like the SW archive series for older Marvel figures. No frills packaging, not like the Vintage waves where you are paying more for the nostalgic cards, just get the in demand figures back out there and bring down the secondary market value for certain figures. Spidey Villians are great candidates for it, but the X Men are the biggest reason I’d want this to happen. With every new wave they are drawing more people in, and the inability to obtain certain characters for a reasonable price has got to be a huge turn off. It would also be a good place to release figures that had terrible distribution or were originally sold in multipacks with less desirable figures. I might have bought an FA Wolverine but not for $60 with a Hulk figure I don’t want.

Cyclops (Jim Lee, no jacket)
Rogue
Wolverine (FA)
Dark Phoenix
Cyclops (Byrne)
Psylocke
Cyclops (Puck BAF Wave)
Magneto (3 pack)
Storm (Jubilee BAF Wave)
Stryfe (Jubilee BAF Wave)
Cyclops (Jubilee BAF Wave)
Beast

That’s just X Men, I’m not that into Spidey but I’m sure the list for him could be twice as long.

@jmurray90720 - I agree, we definitely need more X-Men figures re-released. I agree 100% with your list. With the Cyclops figures, I'd give all of them all a new alternate head (and without the blast effect on the visor that the current vintage X-Factor Cyclops figure released) and a red optic blast accessory. I'm very surprised the upcoming three-pack of Cyclops, Jean and Wolverine doesn't have an optic blast with it, despite having two alternate Scott Summers heads.

And yes, my wish list for vintage/retro/classic Spider-Man figures that I'd love to see Hasbro make would probably take up a whole page.

Well, when you're already buying three Transformers, tossing Cannonball on top of that to push it over $50 ain't really all that much when his presence alone drops it back down by $10
