The first hurdle is nailing the translation. An easier task with figs and looks like Toy Biz' Bryne/Thing. A harder assignment with Toy Biz' McFarlane/Spidey that many believe might actually be a J.S. Campbell/Spidey. Artists that have specific style quirks like Humberto's feet/hands/faces, or Byrne's iconic Ben Grim brow and flat shale-stone appearance offer easier translations. However, specifically as it regards Steranko, his work is distinguished (IMO) by long limbs, long faces, crazy 70's era advanced-spy-tech (which, as cool as it looked then, most would consider pretty dated now), and trippy 70's era psychedelic backdrops. Only two of those things can be worked into a sculpt. Then there is the matter of recognition. To me Steranko and Gulacy illustrated faces in similar ways - long countenances with large eyes. Is the average collector going to differentiate, or even notice these subtleties? I dunno. I haven't even gone into the aspect of how aiming for a particular artistic look pulls a figure out of continuity with the other figs of the line. The Humberto goblins were effective, but the figures now stand apart and don't mesh with the other Legends IMO. Not poo-pooing your wishes, I like Steranko, just walking through how successful a process this has been within the Legends line. EDIT: All this Shield talk... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 05-29-2021 at 07:36 AM.. |

![]() I don't know what's more disturbing: the fact that this was in the the top 20 image results or the fact it was ostensibly fantasized by a woman. Or the fact I created a pinterest account to download the picture. @TBM I catfished a wife with this thing and will gladly do it again if this relationship doesn't work out so I know the true value of internetting. It's a beautiful thing. ![]() Wow.....didnt know slade had. Thing for his daughter.....kinda delving into that wanda/pietro ultimates stuff. Guess dc needs to stir up some buzz for their books.

What's amazing to me is the level of cognitive dissonance in a comic community that has come to view Deathstroke as an antihero. I know they have retconned the history between him and Terra, but I was a TT reader around her age when reading the book and understood how very wrong the relationship was. They may have rebranded him, but Slade will always be a pedophile to me based on the Judas Contract. That's an indelible mark that doesn't wash away and it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw that illustration. I know DC has tried to tidy up that story using euphemisms like Slade "manipulated" Terra, but the original work was unambiguous about her being seduced by him.

I was just coming here to post about Callisto. At first I wasn't sure it was legit as it came out of nowhere, but obviously it's for real. That's fantastic, another big want checked off for me, even though it'll be a while, possibly even next year.
Now thinking on it, maybe we're getting a third X-Men wave very late in the year? With her and shirtless Wolverine and others? Or could this be even very early reveals for early 2022, though I don't recall we've ever had that much time before reveals and release. Last edited by Captain Nash; 05-29-2021 at 09:22 AM.. |

It would be awesome if she came with an alternate set of tentacle arms

Dan posted that May's not done yet and Jay C from Marvelousnews just claimed there are a couple more surprise reveals left in the next few days.

That's a nice surprise, I hope this means more Morlocks like Sunder and FA Caliban...

Holy shit, yay. This is excellent, I never thought they’d actually get around to her, and even if they did, figured they’d screw it up. She looks awesome! Glad they’re showing the eighties X-Men some love again.
Edit: wonder where she’s coming. A third X-Men wave focusing on classic Earth-616 would be such a welcome surprise. That would also explain shirtless Wolverine. I can’t see him coming too far in the future since there was already a prototype on-hand. Last edited by Ultra Seven; 05-29-2021 at 10:57 AM.. |

Let's go with that 616 thought - who else would we want to see, if there's a third X-Men wave this year? For now assuming Callisto and shirtless Wolverine are 2 of the figures; that we're getting an Excalibur box set, and I recall some kind of comment about pulling from different eras.
two different lines ups: Destiny, Avalanche, Banshee (GSXM or Jim Lee), Pyslocke (Australian Outback), Classic Angel; BAF: Blob Taking into possibility of a much needed BOEM II box set (removing three of the above) Banshee, Psylocke (AO), Classic Angel, Storm (HOX/POX), Exodus; BAF: Apocalypse (HOX/POX) Either line up would be much welcomed by me, honestly, but I also thought about Domino and Cannonball now....could be those two, Wolverine, Callisto, Banshee, and Destiny/Avalanche/Blob (BAF) or Psylocke/Angel/Apocalypse (BAF). Either way I think the next classic X-Men wave really, REALLY need to include Banshee. Either way, all that would take care of a lot of wants, but it still doesn't round out X-Force, X-Factor (both the original and 1st Peter David runs, one of which only has one figure and one of which is short just one), start in on Generation X, New X-Men (either the Morrison run or the younger generation) or give us a classic Havok. There's just a lot of the X-men property to mine for figures. Last edited by Captain Nash; 05-29-2021 at 11:10 AM.. |

I desperately want the Starjammers, but I think that the best way to take care of them would be as a boxset. Same goes for the rest of the Brotherhood 2.0. Hell, the remaining Mojoworld characters (Longshot, Spiral, Mojo) could also work as a boxset. And then I’d really like Shi’Ar Polaris & a more classic (circa say issue 139 or 143#) Kitty Pryde, but I don’t think anyone else does. If they gave us that Kitty, she could share parts with more classic New Mutants (I would buy the same characters they already made if they gave us them in the classic training uniforms). And still that leaves out some holes, like: - Angel (red and blue uniforms) - Amanda Sefton - Headmaster Magneto - X-Factor Jean Grey - X-Factor Beast (before he got his fur back) - Outback Psylocke - Gateway - Siryn - Feral - Rictor - Brood - Random - Exodus - Toad ... and your mileage may vary on filling out teams like the Morlocks, Reavers, Alpha Flight, Hellions, & Marauders. And that’s without going past the mid-nineties. Man am I excited to get back to classic X-Men figures. Edit: ooh! And the Imperial Guard! Fang could give us a Wolverine variant that isn’t totally scene-specific or useless. Last edited by Ultra Seven; 05-29-2021 at 11:35 AM.. |

Callisto looks great! I too wish they would pack her with alternate tentacle arms, but I suspect they won't. I just always loved how Masque would alter people's arms into tentacles and it was considered soo bad but then he does it to Callisto and she's like,"No they are awesome, I love them, tentacle arms are so useful!"
We have had so many X-men reveals slowly given to us, I too suspect they might all actually be part of a new wave. It seems like the most logical choice for them, especially after they hinted that Domino and Cannonball weren't a two pack. If we have Domino, Cannonball, Callisto, and Shirtless Wolverine that would typically leave 3 more figures and a BAF. Surely Banshee is near the top of possibilities to fill the one of the last slots. Longshot too. I also believe a Brotherhood member has a good chance of being one. Maybe Toad or Avalanche or even Jason Wyngarde (Hellfire Club outfit). The last slot is hard to guess at but there are a lot of good options. A third female in the wave tops my wants with Monet, Magma, Syrin, Psylocke (Outback armor), Destiny, or Spiral being some of my top female wants. Exodus would also be a great choice for another villian in the wave. As for the BAF, Blob would be my personal top want since I never got a chance at the original. Armor would be cool too. Or an Astral Plane form Shadow King. |

It’s funny, after Thursday’s livestream, my enthusiasm for the line was really low, and I was thinking “I can ween myself off this line slowly, they’ve really gotten away from the characters I’m interested in,” but this reveal has me so excited about the possibilities of what they can make next. |

Holy cow, Callisto is such a welcome surprise! The figure looks great! With shirtless Wolverine and now Callisto, I'm curious if this means we will indeed get a third X-Men wave as others here have speculated. It would make sense, since the X-Men are one of Marvel's biggest sellers. And with the rumored second Retro Spider-Man wave to go along with the upcoming 'No Way Home' wave, it looks like we could be getting three waves for X-Men AND Spider-Man this year. Does this mean that this is an ongoing change to have three waves of X-Men and Spider-Man Marvel Legends figures, or could it be just for this one year? Also, does this mean Domino and Cannonball will be in the third X wave or were those confirmed to be a two-pack? I honestly forgot, there's a lot to keep track of lately.
I have no idea who would be in a third X-Men wave, so I'll just briefly wishlist my top X-characters I hope get made into Marvel Legends figures in The Not Too Distant Future (I hope you guys got that reference): - Deluxe classic Blob - Classic Toad - 70s blue-and-yellow costume Cyclops with a new head sculpt and red optic blast accessory - Classic White Queen that's sold separately and sturdier legs (as I've heard the boxed set figure's legs are gummy and hard to stand) - Classic Mystique that's not a Walgreens exclusive with new alternate civilian heads - Classic Avalanche - Classic green-and-yellow costume Banshee - Red-and-white uniform Angel, hopefully with the halo emblem on the chest - Classic orange uniform Sabretooth - Green-and-white uniform Rogue from her early years/first "Secret Wars" series era - Black-and-yellow uniform Shadowcat with a Lockheed figurine (I missed the previous release) - Any of the Outback X-Men (seriously, they're ridiculously long overdue) - Classic Longshot - Cyber - Blue furry Beast with an alternate smiling head based on George Perez's artwork - Black outfit Storm with the yellow lightning bolt emblem - Jim Lee/Blue Team Cyclops without the bomber jacket, with a new head sculpt, a red optic blast accessory and an alternate Scott Summers head - Jim Lee/Blue Team Jubilee with an alternate smiling head and multi-colored fireworks blasts accessories - Jim Lee/Blue Team Sabretooth on a new bigger body mold and a better head sculpt - Deluxe Jim Lee/Gold Team Colossus with better metallic skin paint, a neutral headsculpt, an alternate angry head sculpt and alternate fist hands - Jim Lee/Gold Team Jean Grey that's sold separately with new telekinetic effect accessories and a new alternate smiling head - Any classic Generation X figures (I'd be fine with White Queen, Banshee, Skin, M, Penance, Jubilee, Chamber, Mondo and Synch, even though I personally hated the reveals about M/Penance and Mondo) - Xorn with an alternate Magneto head And remember, Hasbro, this was the SHORT list. |

Hasbro didn’t say where Domino & Cannonball are going, but were careful to say that “we never said they were in a two-pack.” My best guesses are either this phantom X-wave, or an X-Force boxset. Whichever gets me the remainder of the Cassidy clan faster. Last edited by Ultra Seven; 05-29-2021 at 12:09 PM.. |

@Ultra Seven - I think ALL of our wallets would hate us, but it'd be nice to see at least three waves of X-Men and Spider-Man figures again. We haven't really had that since the Toy Biz days of Marvel figures. Also, I assume we probably are getting a third X-Men wave as a comic alternative for non-Age of Apocalypse fans and a third Spider-Man wave since the Retro wave last year was so well received and as an alternative for non-movie figures.
But that got me thinking: we all know Hasbro signed a new deal to make Marvel Legends figures, but we don't know how many years that deal lasts for. Maybe by doing three Spider-Man waves and three X-Men waves a year, then Hasbro can make as many fan favorites as they need to before a new deal can be reached or in case a new deal ISN'T reached? I know that Hasbro would probably do everything they can to eventually sign a new multi-year deal, but crazier things have happened. |

FWOOSH.FIRST LOOK: Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Callisto Figure Exclusive Reveal – Fwoosh
She should have a ripped shirt and her hair should be black. I made my custom with blue hair because I liked how it looked, but I don't know why the official one used blue. Hasbro encourages kitbashing with the Lilandra and Shadow King pack-in heads functioning as just a couple of direct indications. What would prevent them from appropriating bashes they thought were stand out? They own the molds and designs of the subsequent parts. It reminds me of when early adopters jailbroke the original XBOX. All the innovative bios dev and application became free R&D for Microsoft eventually showing up in the 360 and beyond. Skins/blades, adding larger harddrives, and saving games directly to the XBOX (I had 140 saved on my 400 gig) were feature sets that are still being rolled out. I remember talking to a techie buddy who also owned an XBOX about how surprisingly genius (we're talking Microsoft here..) a marketing move it was for the hardware maker to not just allow the jailbreak, but to endorse the activity. We laughed at how they'd essentially tricked hackers into providing them with "free ideas and labor". I could see something similar happening here. Thanks for delivering us Calisto! ![]() Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 05-29-2021 at 12:22 PM.. |

Callisto! Not too familiar with her, but it is nice seeing another old school X-men for a change within all this AoA and HoX/PoX madness. Also pretty cool Fwoosh getting their own reveal like that.

Your kitbash may have functioned as a template?

What would prevent them from appropriating bashes they thought were stand out? They own the molds and designs of the subsequent parts. My single gripe with this figure is the shirt. Callisto wore something more like a ripped t-shirt than a bustier. It should have ripped sleeves and collar instead of showing cleavage. I get why they used the parts they did, and it mostly works, but I hate that the lower torso was swapped for a generic one. It looks weird with a the upper half of the shirt sculpted and the lower half just painted on. Last edited by usernamedustin; 05-29-2021 at 03:23 PM.. |

I'm sure the ML team looks at people's customs sometimes for ideas to see what characters people want and what parts they use . It was a pretty much given that any Callisto would reuse mohawk Storm parts, so they probably just arrived at the same easy conclusion that many, many customizers did.
