That Mantis BAF wave has to be one of the worst waves ever... it's up there with the Ultron BAF wave IMO. At least the Okoye wave had Namor, Invincible IM and Black Bolt.

Dunno if anyone has it yet, but I got the Marvel Legends X-Force set at Disney Springs in Orlando. Terrific in hand, makes me itch for Siryn & Feral to wrap up the team, and I never liked the X-Force comics.
Ex Nihilo is honestly in the running with Red Goblin for my least favorite Marvel Legends figure of all time. The term “waste of a slot” is thrown around a lot, but I think he might be the literal best example. Did anyone actually want him? Couldn’t we have gotten any number of other cosmic heroes/ villains with an equivalent amount of tooling? Nitpick: I was also never happy with the outfit choice on Warlock. He’s one of my favorite Marvel heroes, and they somehow managed to pick out literally the only outfit for him that I didn’t want. I seriously would have even preferred the loincloth look from “Thor” 165-166. |

My local Wally world has an endcap full of Eternals & a few pegs fulla AOA wave & a pair of retro wave Mr F & Fugly Sue. Not collecting any of them so they're safely still on the pegs.

Walmarts in my area are a little better as they only have one wave each of AoA, Eternals, and (depend on the WM) What If. But that's IF they even have Legends out. |

I received my retro wave Johnny Storm today. Nice figure but I was surprised at how different the shade of blue on his uniform was. Normally I don't notice that sort of thing until someone points it out. But with this, I felt like it was hard to miss.

I was at a Target the other day that in addition to the many Eternals figures they'd been sitting on had clearly just gotten cases of nothing but the retro Thing and a case of just Dr Strange from the Armadillo wave.

I think everyone mostly just bought Gamora and maybe Nebula, but I think casual collectors just passed on that whole wave... I know I did. Plus... that Rocket felt like a ripoff IMO. But I actually forgot about the Captain Marvel wave... that one is worse... no must haves and a weak BAF. |

I disagree... everywhere I looked I saw the gold guy, blue Adam Warlock and Death's Head II... and to a lesser extent Starlord and Rocket. That means people were not completing Mantis in great numbers... ergo... the wave did not sell well... IMO. Still not as bad as the Eternals or Shang Chi waves.

I've about given up all hope I'll ever see Quasar at my local Walgreens, I hit like 5 yesterday & all are barren wastelands of ML figs, all empty.

Same deal here in middle TN. Surprisingly, Nova was available for order on the Walgreens website for a decent amount of time. So, I'm hopeful we'll have a similar window for both Quasar and Binary.

Did you find Nova? I finally found him about a month ago at a couple of stores in M'Boro. He hit all 4 stores at the same time. Nova was way late so I expect we'll still see Quasar. Don't lose heart, my friend.

If I may make a suggestion to Hasbro for the 20th anniversary Hulk figure, why not repaint the 80th anniversary Hulk head to match the SDCC Vintage Hulk body.

^ IMO it should also maybe include a Bruce Banner headsculpt that fits on one of the previously released suited bodies.

Looks like it's close to time to do the top 10 legends of 2021. I'm going to really need to review my purchases. All I know is I'm not counting the Sentinel because that would be unfair to every other legend and I know my #1 but that's it.
Hopefully 2022 will be a better year than this year! I know this year was definitely a downgrade from 2019 and 2020, but there were a lot of issues at play. Character selection vs. my own wants may be one thing, but distribution, cost and scarcity (I guess that's distribution) and movie wave tie in delays - just think if things had been normal without Covid, 2021 would have brought us the upcoming Thor and Dr. Strange waves as well as probably having started seeing Black Panther 2 waves. Ah well, nice to imagine but that certainly isn't reality. |

The Excalibur set has some paint QC issues that were consistent in both of the sets I bought, specifically regarding Meggan. The neck peg is immobile due to being painted over for the Meggan fig of both sets. Nothing huge that I can't fix with hot water, but no less annoying as a flub especially given the consistency of the flaw. Also, I have concerns about the design of the shoulders of the fig that I'm sure will result in rub following multiple posings. There's some paint slop on all three characters, but, again, Meggan seems to have suffered the worst of all three through two sets. Not sure whether this is a wider problem, or my just not being very lucky with my two orders.

Looking at the ML 2021 checklist over at Fwoosh... This year I only bought 14 Marvel Legends. I actually bought a few more, but ended up returning them to buy other stuff instead.
Spider-verse Miles Spider-verse Gwen House of X Moira AI Iron Man Ironheart Gamer-verse Miles What If Spidey Walgreens Dark Silver Surfer Walgreens Nova Retro Firestar Retro She Hulk Retro Spidey 2099 Retro Tigra Retro Hercules My fav is easily Spider-verse Gwen and Miles. |

Anyways I put some thought into and here's what I've come up. I'm NOT included the Sentinel in my top 10 list, it's just not fair to every other figure released. But yeah he's absolutely the star of the year. THere's no way he couldn't be. (Unless some poor soul is still waiting for them to arrive!) Honorable mentions to both AoA and HOX/POX Magneto. Both great figures, but just missing the cut. As much as I wanted a Sersi figure, and want to look her figure more than I do, she's not top 10 list. There's quite a few figures I imagine I would have put on the list if I weren't cutting back (Surtur looks awesome and so do Mastermind/Callisto from the Amazon set). 10. Zombie Captain America What If - what a horrorshow of a figure, in such a good way. Incredible detail and I know it's show specific, but they could definitely mine this theme. 9. Cyclops (HOX/POX) - Great look for Cyclops, I know I placed him lower on initial review of the wave, but he's solid and different from his usual cowled look. 8. Firestar - for all the want for this figure had, it was more to fill the glaring omission of not having her character in plastic form yet. As a figure, she's pretty plain outside of the headsculpt. So for that I can't justify putting her higher. Headsculpt is great though. 7. AOA Sabretooth - really a great solid figure and much needed addition to the AOA theme. Super fun and the star of the wave for me. 6. Shadowcat (Excalibur set) - another really good figure. Definitely was needed, but is not quite perfect. If the hair had been more on point she would have ranked higher. But other than that, she looks good. 5. Moira X - Definitely the highlight of the HOX/POX wave for me. Before that storyline I wasn't sure we'd ever get a Moira figure (and honestly we probably never would have). The interchangeable parts is a huge plus. If I weren't cutting back, I would have gotten a second of her to take advantage of that. 4. Morlun - My most wanted Spider-Man related character finally got made and I was Soooo happy. He's such a creepy figure. Great use of the base mold as well. Great attention to detail like the holes in the hand. Creepy facesculpts. Win/win all around. 3. Ultron - Not much to say here. They've made several attempts, but this one knocks them all out of the park. No more need for another Ultron. He's fantastic. 2.WandaVision Scarlet Witch - I don't buy a lot of MCU figures now, but there's no way I could pass this one up - though I didn't preorder or anything. My god the detail on this figure is insane, which is probably because it's MCU. This figure is just stunning. 1. Lady Deathstrike - Finally. Finally able to discard that horrible monstrosity from 2006. That alone is a huge boost to this character's ranking. When you add just how well this figure was done - sure she's not as detailed as the runner up, but they nailed the look so perfectly. I cannot oversell the upgrade though, it was so needed. Banshee needs to be next, though if you compare the earlier versions of both characters, Hasbro did the "in need of upgrade" in the right order. |

My Excalibur set is supposed to arrive on Wed, so I think I will wait until after that to do my top list.
