I agree with Dr Kain's list 100%, I'd buy all of those figures. I also appreciate the Mary Jane figure mention by Ultra Seven, I feel humbled.

Of course, there are at least three versions of Doctor Octopus I want made into Marvel Legends figures at the moment - "Death of Captain Stacy" (the green-and-orange costume with the black glasses with white mirrored lenses), white Armani suit, and the '90s "Spider-Man" animated series, respectively. I also wouldn't object to a classic Carolyn Trainer Lady Octopus either. I wouldn't mind a new classic Vulture with better wings and more details on the uniform. The previous release was too plain and I wasn't fond of the Adrian Toomes head sculpt we got for Vulture. A Deluxe classic Rhino would be very much appreciated, or even an armored Rhino from the '80s when he was on the Sinister Syndicate. It'd be nice to have the Sinister Syndicate costumes for Rhino and Boomerang finally made into figures. Classic Lizard has to be within the next year or two given that he's been on Top 10 lists for quite a while now, right? For the Rose, I'd toss in alternate civilian heads of Richard Fisk and Jacob Conover.

I may be the only one, but I still want a classic Mysterio re-release with a better cape, a better "fishbowl" helmet and alternate civilian heads of Quentin Beck and Daniel Berkhart. A new classic Green Goblin with a bat-wing shaped glider, improved Goblin mask head sculpt and alternate civilian heads of Harry Osborn and Dr. Bart Hamilton would be cool too.

I'd add to the Retro Spider-Man wish list:
- The Tinkerer [likely in a two-pack with an "alien" henchman]
- Man Mountain Marko [Deluxe]
- Man-Wolf
- Calypso
- Rocket Racer
- Black Cat [classic re-release]
- Tombstone [suit-and-tie]
- Kaine [classic]
- Stunner [classic]
- Spider-Carnage

For non-Spider-Man Retro lines, I'd love for the Retro Fantastic Four wave to include new figures for the Mole Man, the Wizard, the Trapster, armored Hydro-Man, and Titania. I'm shocked that Mole Man hasn't had an updated figure yet, especially with the F.F.'s 60th anniversary last year. I'm also curious if that rumored all-villains, purple carded villains The Uncanny X-Men wave from two or so years ago would get made one day. It'd be a great way to make long-requested classic villain figures like Magneto, Avalanche, Blob and Mystique. I'd also love a Retro wave for The Incredible Hulk with more villains. The Gargoyle, classic Abomination (as a Deluxe release, of course), the U-Foes, the Ringmaster, Tyrannus, the Absorbing Man, orange-and-black costume Leader, the Constrictor, Zzzax... so many villains, so little shelf space.

I know that Spider-Man has a wealth of characters that could fit into the Retro line, and as marvel's tentpole character, it's deserved. The balance of that is that there will always be more opportunities for Retro Spider-Man characters, even if it doesn't end up being a yearly thing every year.

X-Men and Avengers will likely have more shots as well. I suspect we'll see another X-Men retro line around late 2023, officially 2024, if the "2023" retro line will be Iron Man.

Fantastic Four is what I'm most worried about, and my usual criticisms are why. I understand getting a cohesive looking team of the 4. But that's 4 of 6 slots, like this last one, and then the 2 other figures were variants of those characters. Were they undeserving of those figures? No. But does it feel like pulling teeth to get any Fantastic Four villains outside of Doom (ignoring the complexity of Galactus)? - it absolutely does. I like that we got two villains, but the 4's rogue's gallery/related characters will end up expanding at an agonizingly slow rate. And that's mainly because four of the slots pretty much have to be earmarked for the core four.

All that to say, I really would like to see, and wish we had seen, characters like Crystal, Attuma, Wizard mainly for me, but there's also redos of Mole Man, Blastaar, Annihilus, Terrax, Dragon Man (not really a Legends orginally per se but close enough. As well as new characters like Red Ghost, Mad Thinker, Diablo, Llyra (I think she was supposed to be released but never was), Immortus (we have Kang so it's like we have the character, but that whole thing is complicated), Malice, Trapster as well as the whole bunch of Inhumans aside from just Crystal. And these are just the more well known name. And yes, I did leave out their creepiest villain on purpose.

@Captain Nash - Actually, Iron Man is rumored to be the Retro wave this year. And that's what I'm worried about. This is the Hulk's 60th anniversary year, so having a Retro Toy Biz box art wave should have been a shoo-in. There are a lot of characters that could work in that wave, from She-Hulk and Doc Samson to the Leader and Tyrannus. Heck, the Hulk himself wasn't as tall in the Lee/Kirby days, so a first appearance Grey Hulk and even a purple trunks Hulk from when he helped found the Avengers would've worked. Deluxe figures for characters like Abomination, Bi-Beast and any version of Hulk would be natural choices too. Instead, we're getting -- Iron Man? It seems like a head scratcher to me, especially since Iron Man isn't lacking in the Legends departments like the Hulk, Ghost Rider and, to some extent, the Fantastic Four are. We always get the Fantastic Four in every main Marvel Legends wave, but there are a lot of side characters and villains who need a turn as well.

I'm curious to see what ends up happening with Marvel Legends over the next year, but I'm surprised by how many missed opportunities the Legends waves have had. I thought for sure we would've seen a Captain America 80th anniversary wave last year.

I want to try and make a...well Maker. Hasbro doesn't seem to touch Ultimate stuff all too often, and I've grown quite fond of this character in the past couple of weeks. I have the HoX Charles Xavier body.

Any advice on how to best paint the pattern on his chest? Or anything that would work for a makeshift helmet (or someone who does customs of one)? An unmasked Reed head I suppose too, but the retro/Walgreens one is a bit old for Maker, and not scarred.

Is this the costume?

If so, I'm not sure what to tell you about the helmet or the unmasked head.

But for the symbol, I can think of a couple different ways you might try it. If you want the blue glowing effect like in the pic above, you'll first need to apply some thin layers of blue paint. You should be able to find some Youtube videos that'll teach you how to do that. If not, you can skip that step.

But for the symbol, you could try:
1. Draw the pattern on some blue masking tape and then carefully cut out the pattern. You should be left with a makeshift stencil that you can apply to the figure. Paint inside of the lines and then remove the tape.

2. Find two cylindrical objects and use them as make shift stamps. Think along the lines of the unsharpened, flat end of a colored pencil. The pointy end won't work for this. Apply a thin layer of paint to the flat end of whatever you choose and then press it onto the figure's chest. Repeat this for the second circle. Then paint the line connecting the circles. You could free hand the line or use blue masking tape to make sure your edges are straight. If you go this route, practice on some paper first.

3. Make your own water slide decals. This would require an investment in both resources and time. But if you do a lot of customs that make use of symbols, this might be worth while. It's also the only way you would get the "factory applied" look.

Anything past those two feels too obscure to be feasible, as much as I’d like Randy Robertson, George Stacy, or Deb Whitman. In terms of villians, I’d add on:

- Chameleon (smoking jacket; preferably loaded with alternate heads for civilians unlikely to get a dedicated figure).
- Lizard (classic; rumored but I’ll keep him on the list until confirmed).
- Kraven (bright orange, laser nipples)
- Beetle (silver age)
- Crime-Master (would pegwarm like nothing we’ve ever seen… except maybe the Eternals).
- Molten Man
- Blackie Drago Vulture
- Morbius (classic needs a rerelease)
- Punisher (first appearance)
- Jackal
- Will O’ The Wisp
- Swarm
- Carrion
- The Spot
- Jack O’ Lantern
- Boomerang (bronze age, “Deadly Foes” look)

… Will O’ The Wisp might work better in a BAF wave, but he’d do well at off-setting the tooling cost of someone like Swarm. I also feel like a good way to keep putting red & blue Spidey out is to base figures on specific artists. Like, I’d buy the absolute hell out of a specifically John Romita Senior or Ross Andru figure.
Can't believe I forgot to list Molten Man. DOH!!! ANd Man Mountain Marko. God damn I'm off my game today.

Morbius might be cool to see them redo if they were to color him in blue and maybe give him better feet, though, I expect the next time we see Morbius it will be in his Animated form.

Is the Jackal you listed a reissue as well?

That's the one, yeah.

Yeah, I imagined the helmet would be hard, aside from either sculpting it, or commissioning it to be sculpted. But figured it was worth a shot.

I wasn't thinking of doing the glow effect, at least not for my first attempt.

These are both excellent suggestions, the latter might be easier for now I imagine.

I don't do much customizing, and probably won't start much of it. I only really attempt it when it seems unlikely a major company will do a character I really like.

Thank you for the help!

I'd be down for a new Vulture & Mysterio. Good call on armored Rhino too, I'd like that look as well.

Solid addendums! I forgot all about Rocket Racer somehow, even though he's one of my favorite Spidey villains. So, yes please to Rocket Racer. I'm ashamed that I left Man-Wolf off my list. Do you guys think the Beast buck would work for him, or would it be too big? I think it looks right for his bronze age appearances, but I could be off.

I'm always down for more Felicia Hardy. She's a top five Marvel character for me, so I'll always upgrade her, because no figure of a favorite character is perfect.

Everybody's list leaves someone off. I'm embarrassed I left off Rocket Racer!

I think my main quibble for Morbius would be that I'd like a more gaunt, emaciated head sculpt, since that's how he was usually drawn in the bronze age. Although not a priority, I'd take an animated Morbius (especially if we got Blade to go with him).

For Jackal, I would want a reissue in brighter colors, with a much different head sculpt.

It's interesting to see all of these wish lists immediately following complaints about the new MSRP increase to $25. I know we humans can be quite mercurial, but you only need to look back a page or two to see multiple declarations that the increase would severely limit purchases moving forward only to be followed up by lengthy wish lists. I guess we'll see how much nostalgia is worth and whether Hasbro can dial up character selections that make price objections so much hot air.

With that price hike coming, I'm more than happy to cut back. I'm still all in on X-Men, but other areas of Marvel may get cut or I'll complete some kind of core group and be happy. It's hard to say no to Spider-Man/street level characters, but with an area like the Avengers, I'm down to wanting Jack of Hearts, a classic Mockingbird, and maybe Swordsman and Crystal. Crystal is a tough one because I got rid of Black Bolt and Medusa, but she was married to Quicksilver and they were on the Avengers together. It just sucks if I really want a BAF and not the majority of a wave, like the Armadillo wave. I got lucky finding those pieces but we all know we can't always be so lucky. Hell, I'm still hunting for Quasar. Did he come out in the states yet?
I collect Transformers too, and they are headed to a price hike. It's getting hard to collect everything.

@TheBlueMarvel - Regardless of price increases, everyone loves to make wish lists and there's always going to be a character or two (or two hundred) that we still would love to see finally made. I've been disappointed with recent reveals (like classic orange costume Sabretooth and his new head sculpt - gah!) and I'm more inclined to collect Retro lines right now, especially Spider-Man, because of how the characters look and for the (current) $23 price tag. Also, Spider-Man's my favorite hero ever and Spidey's got my favorite rogues gallery of villains in all of comics, so there's that going for my collection. Also, I can't say no to more civilian characters. I'd love to see first appearance panel Mary Jane Watson, Aunt May Parker, Harry Osborn, Joe "Robbie" Robertson, General "Thunderbolt" Ross, Betty Ross, Rick Jones, Willie Lumpkin, etc. all get figures. And of course, "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" civilian figures for Peter Parker (season one or two, I'm not picky), Mary Jane Watson, Felicia Hardy and J. Jonah Jameson would be very much appreciated, Hasbro.

@Ultra Seven - I agree, no favorite character is perfect and I'm always down to buy multiples of the same character if the sculpt/paint job and price are right. I do hope they release or re-release more figures of characters in classic costumes that fans weren't able to buy the first time around so fans can add them to their collection. I never did get to find/buy figures of characters like the '90s versions of Cyclops and Jean Grey, classic Mystique and classic Black Cat, so re-releasing those would be appreciated. And of course, classic red costume Daredevil is a must.

You've hit precisely on a terrific point by mentioning character selection. These are the figures I *would* pay more for if they were executed well. Most of them are unlikely to be on Hasbro's radar (like the Enforcers or Rocket Racer). I doubt we will actually get most of them.

The Bonebreaker wave & the leaked 60th anniversary Spider-Man line-ups suggest that the teams/ eras Hasbro is focused on making are completely different from what I am interested in buying. The characters they are making right now don't feel worth the price-point. And when they *do* make someone I want, like Siryn or Havok, it is imperfect enough to make me balk.

... at least, that's my perspective. As always, ymmv.

For me, my listing of figures they haven't made/remade or could make is not always representative of what I'd buy. That whole list of F4 characters? I'd buy the first three and pass on the rest (which while everyone has their own opinions of what they'd buy, maybe that's a general consensus why Hasbro hasn't dug into the F4 characters that deeply).

I mainly don't want to discount or deride what other people want as well. I am absolutely aware I'm not as big a fan of Spider-Man and his foes as some are. And that's me, not them. What I like/want and don't like/want doesn't have to be what they like/want or don't like/want. It doesn't mean I don't think Hasbro shouldn't bother to continue to mine that corner of Marvel for years to come.

Granted of course I'd like to see my actual wants be made over characters I don't really want, that's human nature. But it's pretty selfish to think it absolutely should be that way. It's not going to be that way, you can't always get everything you want and if you can get half of it over several years you should count yourself lucky. Maybe within 10 years you might get it all. It took nearly and over a decade to get my 3 most wanted figures that weren't made from the point Hasbro took over the license and released the first few waves. But I hung in there, and they got made. Hopefully eventually that'll be the case for everyone, and ultimately they get every figure they really really want.

I would imagine the size of the central character himself is why we haven't had a Hulk wave since Fin Fang Foom. All the recent Hulk figures have either been BAFs or deluxe releases, and there's no way they're getting a Hulk wave to retail that doesn't actually have him in it.

As for the "side characters" thing, I think there's a reason that, with a few exceptions, you tend to usually just see civilians in box sets with a more marketable costumed character, so I don't think them missing real estate in waves is too much of a concern. I have to agree with the person last page who said past a certain small number of very popular or iconic supporting characters like Mary Jane or Jameson, that doesn't seem to be a path Hasbro seems terribly committed to, unless it's a character they can get some easy reuse out of the Suited Body on.

Even with Moira MacTaggert, I'm skeptical we would've gotten her had it not been for the comics bringing her back in such a major way.

my Mom (Multiverse of Madness) Wong and Dr Strange shipped can't wait to get them Thursday. Time to upgrade my IW Dr Strange to the new one and finally get Wong on the shelf

Better be careful who sees your wong out in the open.

Yes, but only in a limited capacity. I think that New England was the only region that saw significant distribution.

Well my lists tend to be the characters I would be willing to buy as long as they are my preferred versions.

Like I would pay $25 for a Byrne/Cockrum Banshee, but I would not pay $25 for a Jim Lee version unless the BAF itself was something I must own.

^ I bet we get green and yellow Banshee first so they can try and complete the Giant-Sized X-men team. I prefer strike team Banshee though just so my Forge has someone to hang out with on my shelf.

And I found the whole Dr. Strange 2 wave at Walmart... man I wish classic comic Strange was in this wave instead of being an exclusive... this wave sux IMO. We seriously didn't need another clear Dr. Strange figure... that's for sure. And like Sleepwalker is the only kinda must have figure... the America girl figure has a great headsculpt though.

Hmmmm. It would appear as though I've clicked on the wong thread.

Am I the only person that thinks we need Tusk? My own list is largely a rehash of what others would be after, and that's good, of course, but I feel like some deeper X-men cuts are in order. Fitzroy. Random. Ahab. I really could go on at length. The minute I think I'm almost done with X-men, more of these c-listers that I'd really like to have come to mind.

Sleepwalker is the only figure I care about in the Strange wave as well. They could have at least included a comic version of Mordo or even Nightmare in it.

I may pick up that Chavez person just to have another bystander nobody to be either a person running away or a dead body in my displays and pictures.

I saw the full wave at Walmart yesterday. I picked up Wong as he is a must have. Sleepwalker and the other Comic figure looked good. I left them as I have zero interest and need to cut back this year. Astral Dr. Strange was tempting but no room on the shelf for him. Chavez would be a good bystander. Nothing special about her.

America Chavez doesn't even rate to be a dead body on my displays. Only fig in this wave I want is D'Spayre to utilize his buck for a custom. Rest of the wave is a huge pass being mostly MCU based. Being as I don't collect MCU & just cherry pick comic based figs that I like, the price hike doesn't affect me much as I don't buy entire waves like some of you tend to do. I also don't collect other lines. The McBatverse is a joke & Joe line is great but just don't have the room to collect that line. Went to Walgreens yesterday & it's pathetic to look at their action figure aisle, zero evidence that they even carry MLs. I guess Quasar will continue to elude me.
