Sorry, more than enough versions of the main gallery of Spiderman villains have been made and it astounds me when people are asking for more of the same damn character while we still need a classic Tarantula, a classic Black Tarantula, classic Hector Ayala White Tiger. Nah, make umpteenth Kraven, Doc Ock, Green/Hob Goblin, Rhino, Mysterio, Venom, Scorpion. How bout an in-scale Kingpin to replace the oversized monstrosity they made. Fisk is 6'7 not 7'7!

I agree EXCEPT in the case of Hobgoblin and Doc Ock. We don't have the true Hobgoblin yet, just the Jason version. We also don't have a Doc Ock with tentacles that don't suck.

Kingpin is just fine though.

Now I agree on other aspects because we need Man Mountain Marko, Belladonna, Tarantula, Molten Man, Cardiac, Mr Negative, The Enforcers, Big Man, Silvermane, The Fox, Styx & Stone, Jonathan Caesar, Man-Wolf, Aunt May, Uncle Ben's tombstone, Betty, Ned, Robbie, Gloria, Ben Ulrich, Harry, Liz, Normie, Flash, etc.

I want a McFarlane Hobgoblin... he's pretty much the only Hobgoblin I am familiar with. When I went to a local collector show I saw the Space Venom Hobgoblin for like $225 bucks and was like... damn. I never even saw that wave at retail though, so not like I had a chance to buy him at the time anyway... that was one of the lost waves that mostly only showed up at Walgreens here I think. I definitely saw Sandman Green Goblin though and passed on him many times, so that I regret.

It’s not the team’s fault, but it is getting harder and harder to keep up enthusiasm for this line (and Hasbro’s other collector lines). The shipping delays, price increases, distribution issues, difficult to acquire exclusives, quality control problems, and even the lack of physical prototypes make the lines less fun.

I agree. It is getting easier cancel pre-orders when other things pop up that I want or see a review that changes my mind like the Archive 501st Clone trooper. Bad articulation? Cancel.

It's probably a bit selfish, but I want another shot at some iconic Spidey villains that released when I wasn't collecting. I'm not paying $75 for Sandman wave Green Goblin, or $45 for Doc Ock especially when I'd need to get custom tentacles for him. I'd also love a black suited Kingpin, I don't care for the retro version, and the BAF is too much for what it is.

I'm a casual comic reader, I barely know a lot of the characters people here are requesting.

Why is that baffling to you? "Why would somebody want a new figure of a character made X years ago that I already have in my collection?" Well, it's because the figure hasn't been made in X years, it's a popular character Hasbro knows will sell, the previous version now goes for $60 to $150 per figure depending on the character, and new characters will want a figure of said character to add to their collection. Just because someone bought character X from X years ago didn't mean that I did, other collectors did, and/or new collectors did. Besides, we're always going to have new figures of Spidey's most popular villains like Doc Ock, the Goblins, Venom and so on. That's not a surprise. I'm just saying that I, personally, would like a new Retro Vulture and a new Retro Doctor Octopus with bendable characters, is all. Frankly, I'm surprised classic villains like Chameleon and Doc Ock haven't already gotten the Retro treatment.

That said, of course I want new figures of villains who still haven't had a turn. Who wouldn't? Tarantula would look great on the Retro Toy Biz box art! So would White Tiger! As someone who read Tom DeFalco's "The Amazing Spider-Man" run post-"Revelations", I never was a big fan of Black Tarantula, but I do admit he'd be a great-looking Marvel Legends figure.

I'd love a new John Romita Jr. version of classic Hobgoblin and I hope the figure is as good as, or better than, the Toy Biz Hobgoblin figure. That's the best Hobgoblin figure I've ever seen. I actually bought the Toy Biz Hobgoblin when it came out at a Wal-Mart and it's still mint in the box. I just need to remember where I put it. I would love a Deluxe classic Hobgoblin with alternate heads (Roderick Kingsley, Jason Macendale, and Ned Leeds all come to mind), a pumpkin bomb or two, razor bats, and a better glider. As someone who owns the new Retro Hobgoblin figure, the glider stinks. It's too rubbery, I can't get the feet to fit/stay in the glider, and the shape of the glider is inaccurate to how it's shaped on the '90s animated series.

I also agree with most of your wish-list of characters that Hasbro could make. Personally, I'm surprised Mr. Negative hasn't been made already, though I think there's some kind of legal snag preventing Cardiac from getting made into a figure. Some choices like Uncle Ben's tombstone and Jonathon Caesar are ones I personally don't need in my collection. But everyone else though? Absolutely! As I said previously, I hope we get more Retro civilian figures. We got Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, J. Jonah Jameson... and that was it (for now). Where is Aunt May? Where is Harry Osborn? Where is Mary Jane Watson? (I know, she's an alternate head with Gwen's figure, but she needs her own figure!) Eugene "Flash" Thompson, Betty Brant-Leeds, Glory Grant, Ben Urich and Joe Robertson may not be as high on Hasbro's radar, but I'd love to see them make more civilian character figures. I think it'd be cool to see a civilian character paired up with one of Spidey's rogues gallery, like a two-pack of J. Jonah Jameson with the Scorpion, Aunt May Parker with Doc Ock, Joe Robertson with Tombstone, stuff like that. They can even go with more modern storyline pairings like Mary Jane with Mysterio and Harry Osborn with Kindred. Since it's Spider-Man's 60th anniversary year, I'd be disappointed if we didn't get at least one Retro or 60th anniversary civilian character figure this year.

Anyway, thanks for reading my nonsense. I hope you all are having a great day and stay safe, True Believers.

I don't see that as selfish. That goes back to why I was requesting new figures for characters like Doc Ock, so people who missed out on the last Doc Ock figure from four years ago can find him and buy him for the current retail price than the $100+ price he's going for on Ebay and Amazon right now. Even newer figures like the Retro Green Goblin and Retro Kingpin within the past two years have become too expensive for new collectors.

I of course want new more obscure villains for people who are into that. But I don't think it's too unreasonable to want the really big, iconic heroes/villains to stay in decent circulation.

My wants that will probably never happen are more Ultimate characters. Flawed as those stories are, and holy god are they flawed, I have developed a huge soft spot for that imprint.

It’s a tournament in Otherworld, which is a fey realm based on British mythology. This whole story was a love letter to classic fairy tales. If it seemed random, it’s because it was. That’s how fey are always characterized in British storytelling. It was perfectly implemented, in my opinion.

Major catching up on here. It's been a few days since I've been on much outside of work, having crappy internet problems, etc.

interesting there's a preorder of a wave that hasn't even been entirely revealed yet. I wonder how that will sell for now. But it's Disney + so it's all stuff I"l pass on...par for the course for this year.

I can't even remember a time since the ROML that I've gone so long without buying or preordering a figure. I don't think I've gotten anything yet for this year (though I could be misremembering). Everything revealed I have no interest in or am waiting until it shows up in stock/in the wild.

I just wonder if I'm hitting a wall or if the line is hitting a wall for me. Sorry to be so negative. I think there's a lot of great stuff coming out for many people, I'm just not one of them.

IMO it is kinda shocking how long they are waiting before giving us new Astonishing X-men figures. Only 2 pack Rogue so far I think... the rest were from that Puck BAF wave that is kinda obsolete IMO. I think Astonishing Wolverine is his 2nd most popular costume too and yet they are being so stubborn and releasing almost every version of Wolverine before that one again on the new shorter mold.

I don't mind the lack of physical prototypes as it cuts down on leaks and it's not like they are at a convention. Physical prototypes only need to be scene when they are physically at a place to show it off.

Everything else, I can agree with.

The sculpt on that TB Hobgoblin was nice, but the balls for hips and the pumpking bomb being sculpted into his hand were terrible.

That's what I said last week. Give me a $50 Romita Jr Hobgoblin that comes with an accurate costumed head, heads of Roderick, Jason, Ned, and Daniel, a new bigger glider, a couple pumpkin bombs and razor bats, and an effect base/glider stand.

I would love to be able to recreate these two moments here in figure form:

Quote:
I can't get the feet to fit/stay in the glider
That's because that glider was sculpted for the pointed boots the previous version included, not the short feet the Bucky Cap has.

Well it didn't fit with the entire storyline that had been happening across all of the books. In fact, none of it made any sense since the whole point of the tournament was to avoid a full scale invasion that ended up happening anyway. The only character who died was some dude named Gorgon who didn't even acquire his sword in this story at all, but I'm supposed to care for this guy? And then it seemed like Satyrnnine could have easily just taken care of the problem herself but didn't because reasons. Either way, I'm thankfully done with that guttertrash of a story.

@Dr Kain - If I remember correctly, I think they can't make a Cardiac figure because of some kind of legal red-tape with co-creator Erik Larsen. I read about it on The Fwoosh. I'll try to find where I read that and then post more about it here after I do.

In regards to the Hobgoblin, I think it'd be great to recreate comic moments with a comic accurate Hobgoblin figure from Hasbro. I might be the only one, but I'd also love an alternate head of Hobgoblin's face missing and you just see his red eyes from beneath his hood, like on the cover of his first appearance and top panel of this image:

EDIT: I found the post about Cardiac on The Fwoosh's "ML Retro Spider-Man figures" thread. This is what Fwoosh member Basil Elks wrote: "Apparently, according to Toy Guru, the reason why Cardiac hasn't been made in toy yet, is because they'd have to pay Eric Larsen partial rights to use him. Supposedly he has partial rights to the characters, & gets paid whenever he makes an appearance, in anything. Be it a comic, cartoon, toy, etc."

In regards to other characters that I'd like to see get new "Marvel Legends: Spider-Man" figures, I've thought of eight others I'd like to see get made into updated figures or first-time figures: Calypso, the Rose, Bloodshed, the Walrus (to go with White Rabbit), classic Kaine, classic Stunner, classic Lady Octopus, and Fusion (from Paul Jenkins' "Peter Parker: Spider-Man" run). Just no Type-Face, please, Hasbro. I have my limits.

Yeah, and that's a very recent increase that includes the Retro Goblin as well. I went Retro two months ago on the secondary at less than retail, my co-worker decided on SM wave at like $14 shipped. Look at them now:

I blame the film.
