Oh good, Dorkside is offering Knull loose for $22. Problem solved.

Jeesus, the prices on Pulse are insane. $28 for AF15 Spidey and $34 for Toad was hard, especially with the plasti-less packaging of Spidey. Why is his price still going up even though they cut back on the packaging?
$55 for the two packs is unacceptable. Those figures aren't worth more than $40. Then again, I had planned to buy the Iron Spider figure until I saw it also at $34. YOWZA!!! At least AF15 Spidey has accessories.

It's not just Hasbro Pulse. Dorkside's pricing for the two pack Spidey made me laugh.

Yeah...I'm having a hard time convincing myself these price hikes are that justifiable. I mean, $34 for Iron Spider? What is that, $3 extra per waldo?

Trying to figure out the rational for 2pack Spidey. Well, a rational beyond Dork's blatant attempt to cash in on that secondary ka-ching.

Unless Hasbro is sending these in by Air, we won't see them until 2023. I am only ordering AF 15 Spider-Man. Don't need the rest. Have a feeling we will see these on clearance.

It really isn't that confounding or much of an enigma. The old design, while nostalgic for some, simply isn't aesthetically pleasing for others. Another anthropomorphized example is Wolfsbane. I actually do have some fondness for Bob McLeod's original work on New Mutants. However, I'm happy Wolfsbane progressed from simply being illustrated as a dog (it wasn't even a wolf smdh) when in her lupine form. In this scenario, my experience and contentment with the source material doesn't prevent me from accepting (even liking) departures from any first appearance. I get it, there is a certain rigidity within the comic collecting crowd and a deep seated need for things to reflect our first exposure to content, but many fans are a bit more flexible in their take on the matter. There are plenty of scenarios involving storied characters where this applies. I'm happy the Hulk looks different than the character's FA. Same for Iron Man. Moon Knight. Etc.
The price hikes are really getting me to question my purchases. I wonder if they would go back to $20 a figure but with no BAF part. Then maybe they could put out a $30 deluxe figure that would be BAF size. The prices can't keep going up and Hasbro can't expect everyone to buy them like that. |

It's not just price-hiking on its own, the Spider-Man 60th anniversary assortment is this year's special sub-line. All previous special sub-lines (MCU 10th, Marvel 80th, X-versary, and Infinity Saga) featured higher prices than the standard assortments at their respective times. Now that the base price has experienced such a rise the extra charge that comes with this sub-line looks even uglier.

That's a good point. I didn't mean to offend or anything. Everyone's going to like the version they like. My personal preferred Lizard is a more classic/even 90's look. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I got my Spider-Man/Spinneret on Entertainment Earth with free shipping, thanks to their promo code. I wanted to get it on Amazon, but like the Silk/Doc Ock two-pack, it sold out on Amazon way too quick. I hope that the Walmart Lizard will be easier to find, whenever the pre-order goes up.
I'd also love an X-Men villains wave like the one Dr Kain listed. Since the X-Men celebrate their 60th anniversary next year, I really hope we get single figure releases for Mystique, classic red-and-purple Magneto, classic White Queen, classic brown-and-tan Wolverine, any version of Banshee, and updated Jim Lee versions of Colossus, Cyclops (with an optic blast this time, please, Hasbro), Jean Grey and Psylocke. I'm also hoping for characters like Shadowcat, '80s Rogue, Longshot, Outback era black-and-yellow costume Storm, any of the Generation X characters like M and Chamber (as well as Generation X suit versions of White Queen, Jubilee, and, of course, Banshee), and Xorn. A George Perez Beast is a must. Then again, I'd also love a whole wave of Avengers figures based on Mr. Perez's artwork. |

Same here. Between the continual price hikes, the long-range in stock forecasts and the "not as exciting" offerings (IMO anyways), my engagement withe line has gone way down. Reason #3 may be the main reason there, but the higher they keep raising the prices, the shorter my "will definitely buy" lists keeps getting. Especially with remakes or alternate outfits.

Guys. I know it sucks to pay more for figures, but the cost of bringing a shipping container over from China is literally six times right now what it was less than a year ago, even six months ago. A $5,000 container now costs $30,000. The alternative to these prices is likely the cancellation of the line, because shipping is out of control. If there’s a silver lining to be had, maybe the cost of producing in the US will start to look competitive by comparison?

Get ready for another Hasbro Price increase this year
Quote:
US News reports Hasbro will raise prices again later this year due to increasing costs of supplies as well as the pausing of product sales to Russia. The response to the invasion of Ukraine in recent weeks may cost Hasbro as much as $100 million in sales lost. Prices are expected to increase this summer.
Hasbro Inc said on Tuesday it would have to raise prices further to cope with soaring costs and warned of a potential revenue hit of about $100 million this year due to its decision to pause toy shipments to Russia. [...] "To improve product in stocks this holiday season versus last, we're advancing deliveries of key items so that we can ensure they're on hand," said Chief Financial Officer Deborah Thomas on an analyst call. |

That's an interesting thought and I've noted a number of manufacturing/machinist programs cropping up here in my state over the last several years. That said, don't you think that the costs saved when using exploited laborers in China (and other parts of Asia) dwarfs even the supply-chain crisis shipping rates? I'm not sure that a large manufacture could do it, but maybe Four Horsemen, MacFar, Boss Fight, etc. I'm interested to hear your take, as a retailer.

But yes, at the end of the day, I may be at my ceiling. After all, I'm already well past what I initially set out to accomplish with Legends, and in my house, ARAH > Classified. Far, FAR greater than Classified. No complaints or rants here- once it hits the level at which I consider it to be no longer worth continuing, I'm voting with my wallet. I encourage you all to do the same- don't be like the Hisstankers; complaining online accomplishes nothing. Pull the plug. |
