^He says knowingly while musing, "they have no clue."
Yeah, I deal with enough borderline personality disorders in my day to day experiences without seeking out said exchanges. My, mostly, tongue in cheek curiosity is satisfied. I take your word for it, Candyman can be Hisstank's problem. |

Well in case you've never noticed, I like to troll, so sometimes trolling another troll is quite fun because they tend to be really easy to rile up. I've been able to trigger half of the gaming community just by mentioning the lack of a pause button in the new game Elden Ring. It's been quite fun.

Actually, it's the opposite. I'm getting people upset at me because I was saying Horizon Forbidden West was superior because it had a pause function and people went off on me saying Elden Ring not having a pause button is a feature, I am clearly new to the Souls franchise since I did not know that was a thing, and that I should not be playing the franchise as a casual gamer.

For what it's worth, since I brought up Target in the first place, I don't really think the line is in any danger of being cancelled anytime soon, just that the situation with Target at the moment is a great example of how something like Legends can be easily here today but gone tomorrow, and therefore not something I take for granted.
But even if Target is out, you can still find Legends at Walmart, Amazon, Gamestop, various online retailers, and even Pulse itself. So for fans the hunt isn't over yet. Also for what it's worth, I think Classified is doing great, and I trust the line will be around for years to come. We saw this happen before. Notice after the wave for the first Ant-Man movie bombed, there wasn't a follow-up for the sequel, and instead figures for that movie got folded into Infinity War's waves and eventually promotional stuff like The First Ten Years. I just have a hard time seriously believing that they'd suddenly, and without warning, drop ML altogether over that. Especially when there are other toylines that have had similar dud waves that they continue to order and display in the aisles. The only way I could seriously see this happening is if they downsized their toy section altogether, which I don't see happening. |

The Target argument also seems odd to me, because if the problem was that they were pissed off about sitting on a bunch of unsold Eternals and Age of Apocalypse figures... then the more likely scenario to me would be they just pass on future proposed Eternals and Age of Apocalypse figures. One was an extremely obscure and untested property nobody outside of the most hardcore Marvel fans had ever heard of (and even among hardcore Marvel fans, the Eternals were never particularly popular), and the other was a niche alternate universe storyline.

And we've had duds before, but Hasbro's response to not do an Antman 2 wave and to mix figures into other SKUs/DCPIs worked because there were other waves still out there on the shelf to move those figures into. Right now at Target, however, there aren't any waves currently at all, so while no one knows yet what's going on with Target this is not business as usual. I also just picked up Defender Strange at Target on Clearance now ($22, a much easier to swallow price), which is not only a Target exclusive and goes with the movie that just came out and is doing very well. So yeah, very strange indeed. |

See, that makes sense to us, but you're thinking like a fan, not a Target Exec who sees only the numbers and where any version of Iron Man is just Iron Man and Marvel Legend = Marvel Legend. So Eternals doing badly doesn't just hurt future Eternals toys, it really can, sometimes unfairly, have a negative impact on the brand as a whole.

What's odd too is that Target is carrying the smaller Thor figures, the hammer, the deluxe hammer, the Titan series figures, and the Jane thor mask, but not the Thor Marvel Legends.

The only figure from the Thor wave I've seen is Thor. Probably because the design is atrociously busy.

So is anyone planning to get some of the Bonecrusher wave figures that doesn't want Bonecrusher?

I bought the figures I wanted off of Amazon. I did see Jane and God killer at Walmart but not interest and no room. Target Buyer probably forgot to order them or they were scared of MCU figures after the disaster of Eternals and X-Men Age of Apocalypse wave 2. Knee jerk reaction.

Alternatively I've seen it pointed out that after the disaster that has been solid case packs at stores leaving such heavy overstock that has no chance of moving at full price, Target is taking the time to regroup the toy aisle and is trying to get all the random individual DCPIs cleared out (I.E. stores sitting on like 4 solid cases of just Ikaris) before restocking any more new Legends toys. |

Wouldn't have been "knee jerk" as planograms were planned out months in advance, and a dump of a line would take more than a few duds and usually would only occur after a "4 strikes you're out" rule of retail (at least according to Ole Spectre Creative on YouTube who has seen a line or two dropped by retailers).

Anything is possible if Buyer wants it. |

^That's pretty interesting, I was unaware retail buyers had that much leeway. I dated a media buyer years ago and assisted her in getting a promotion with suggestions regarding the 18 to 35 young adult male demo and commercial placement on Adult Swim. Until you mentioned this, I'd never really connected the two types of buyers, but it makes sense that retail buyers would have a healthy degree of autonomy, just like their media counterparts.

Hi I’m from AUS we have been paying upwards of $40 for many years now. I just got back in to Legends, really like the new sculpts and that, but when the price increases here I’m not sure I can keep collecting them. I hope to, we have a lot of great stores that carry them now so easy to get.

I have worked in Retail for over 20 years as Buyer. I can make a change to any of my POGs in 30 days. I could have it done in a week if not for POG rules. Yes, Target Buyer could do a knee jersey reaction. Target rotates their buyers every 2-3 years. A Buyer doesn't have long to show they have what it takes to stay. I am not familiar with Old Spectre. Has he worked as a Buyer in Retail? I have moved on from products that don't sell after 1 awful performance. No need to bring in more dead ducks to stink up the shelves. Many moons ago when I bought Action figures, I informed

I like Spectre Creative's youtube channel, but that guy always admits that he is the type of person that needs attention and needs his ego fed constantly... so like... I consider his vids to be more for entertainment consumption instead of informative value.

Also Spector Creative, or rather Scott Neitlich, wasn't a Buyer ever that I know of. But in addition to making his informative yet sometimes a bit dry YouTube videos, he is actually a former Brand Manager at Mattel, known mostly for MOTU Classics, but was also in charge of the DC property during the DC Universe and DC Classics years, and that includes unfortunately the Green Lantern movie toyline. Of course he doesn't really know what's up with Target, either, I think given those highs and lows of his own experiences I feel he must have at least some insight into what it takes to cause retailers to stop wanting to carry your toys. But anyway, I'm not his publicist, people can look up his videos about it and form their own opinions. Last edited by GizmoTron; 05-11-2022 at 09:39 PM.. |

I actually get the opposite reaction. I find the information fascinating while instead it's his attempts at humor and entertainment that comes off a bit lame instead.

^ I mean his videos often times have great topics which are super relevant to my collecting habits, so his vids are always interesting... I just take everything he says with a grain of salt is all.

As one should for any internet personality big or small. I do enjoy that it's more informative and isn't another in a sea of YT videos that either overly praises or condemns Hasbro and Mattel and everything they do.
