I was able to get both a Lizard and animated Spidey. I'm not sure I really want the Spidey, but I figured I should preorder it now and cancel later than to decide I want it later and no longer have the chance to get it.
The annoying part is I had to wait for someone to post the links for them to show up because Lizard is not showing up when I just type in Marvel Lizard into the search bar.

![]() Nabbed the old timey Lizard. However, that Spider Man is a pass as the shaded highlights are jarring and do a lot to obscure the sculpt. The colors, on the other hand, are satisfying making it even more of a disappointment. Now that I have my first, and last, animated Legend - Storm, I can say from first hand experience that I'm not a fan of this experiment. As with Spider Man, the shading diminishes the sculpted details imo. |

Cel shading also often creates a series of light and shadow that does not typically follow standard art practices which utilize a specific light source. This works well on the statically posed items as those lines never change. On an articulated action figure, it creates a disjointed appearance at any time where the figure is posed outside of the original(usually static standing) position. It is a real shame but I am not overly surprised by the result. |

Note: I know the mold is a little small for some, but I like it! If Hasbro re-uses the buck, and re-use the paint with the same color and outfit, no doubt I’m on that.

On your point on Spiderman, I’m not sure either, my “spidey senses” are tingling, too! Lol. Something about the cell shading? I know I will eventually buy one of these figures with the cell shading (because I’m a sucker, Hasbro!). But, easy pass on Spidey, and all others figures with that cell shading.

I keep trying to pre-order Lizard and Spider-Man, but it won't let me add them to the cart. Is anyone else having this problem?
The animated Spider-Man figure is here on Wal-Mart now, by the way: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Marvel-Le...ries/425345222 |

Well, these may be the last pics I take in our current apartment since I need to start packing up my camera equipment. Sad times.

I am a huge fan of cel shaded styling when applied to statically posed miniatures, statues or Gundam but have to agree that the application on action figures, particularly from Hasbro, has been mediocre at best. As you indicated, it often obscures sculpted details.
I understand that this is nostalgia twice removed: first for Spidey/Marvel, then a redoubling for the associated 'toons. I also get the gimmick involved. Reuse and resale with the plausible deniability of 'we're giving you more chances to buy at retail figs that have soared beyond reach on the secondary market'. Albeit, animated Spidey looks to possibly be a preemptive reuse of a mold to be released in the near future. I look at classified with green eyed envy, but I also wonder how long it'll be before it goes the way of Legends. - As much as I like the new Rhino, I still prefer the old head sculpt and paint app...as well as the old pizza Spidey mold...and Miles' old costume.. oldy photos ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Miles is the only figure I don't think Hasbro has improved yet because they haven't done his comic costume in newer form.
Those pictures are still jaw dropping no matter how many times I see them.

Then there is the sub-line which utilizes the already released figures with paint schemes closer to their cartoon coloring. Different line, same process. I am curious to see if Legends adopts some of the molds and articulation choices from Classified or if we end up seeing the articulated animals cross over as both are utterly fantastic. |

Miles' original uni hasn't been surpassed, the design was that good imo
Edit: Quote:
No need for Classified envy as the line has already greatly stepped into the reuse territory. There are now 4 Snake Eyes with virtually identical features and head swaps, 3 paint variants of the same Duke figure and plenty of body reuse to name only a few. The overlay gear hides a lot of the part reuse from view.

Agreed. IMHO, it's the finest mass-market 6" line available. There's certainly some parts re-use, there always has been with G.I. Joe, but it's always tastefully done (and far, FAR less of an issue than it was during the ME era of Joe). There's also not more than 80 versions of snake eyes yet like there is across the various 1/18 line. 4 (it's actually 5.5 counting the "field variant" and not including Fortnite SE) versions of SE in two years' time is exercising some serious restraint on Hasbro's part. People often cite the in-house nature of the franchise as a sign that Hasbro is greedy (and make no mistake; they are), that the line should be cheaper than BS or ML, blah, blah, blah,... but the savings on licensing fees are passed on to us in the form of greater attention to detail, load-outs, and in spite of the re-use, a ton of unique sculpt work. Yeah, it's an amazing line. I just hope it continues it's current trend.

I agree that the more appropriate scenario for cel shading is on statues, but, honestly speaking, it's really a device best left for animation and gaming imo. Whether it's a statue, or figure, a key light is far more effective in casting natural shadows, as both statues and figs have sculpted details that can be exploited to greater effect.

If so, the blending of the color are done so natural like. And, if he is cel-shaded, I purchased my first cel shaded figure without even knowing it…Lol

Ah, I missed this feeling. Feeling a twinge of anticipation for deep cuts, hoping for Stegron or Spot, and they roll out two characters I've never heard of (and haven't been mentioned here much either) and I'm disappointed again.
Yay....Human Fly....Razorback. LOL *Throws up arms in lackluster faux excitement" |

Sigh. Absolutely nothing for me.
Unless Stegron's the Spider-Man BAF then I guess I'll be getting all that wave. I can't deny the thought of having a werewarthog is somewhat appealing though. Maybe we can get a weresquid at some point too. |

Nothing was shown off that I absolutely must own. I might get the Retro Card Beast so I can one on my Claremont X-Men shelves along with the 90s shelves. I'll most than likely end up getting Razorback and Human Fly since they'll most likely be in a Spidey wave I must own the BAF too. Still undecided about the Terrax pack, though I'll probably bite. The rest, not really feeling it. My thoughts on the underwhelming 20th anniversary line remain unmoved.
Sigh, still not Banshee...
