My RYV set was fine when I grabbed it thankfully, but my King In Black set had a Venom that came with two right fist hands.
So...already batting .500 with this new packaging when I could have easily been perfect had I just been able to see what was going on beforehand like I have been these past few decades. |

I was at Target earlier and saw Iron Spidey... For 32 bucks after tax. That's way too much for a Marvel Legend, let alone one you can't even check the paintjob on!

I honestly hope that hasbros new stupid boxes start causing sales to drop and they go back to what they had before. This sealed boxes are very bad for consumers because of hasbros qc issues (bad paint, incorrect accessories etc) and repackers.

I've just decided I'll buy every copy in the store, open them up, pick out the best one, and return the rest. That's also assuming the proper figure is in there.

As fun as it is to see the freak out over the new boxes, they won't be the main cause of what hurts sales, it will be the prices.

That too. Its not so much a freakout, at least on my part, but the arguments against this packaging are sound. Its harder to see qc issues and repacks with this packaging and that could ( and should ) hurt sales, though the insane price hikes will likely do more damage.

Hmmm..thats not a bad solution. Seems more considerate than just opening shit in the store, at least to me.

Was out last night, no my usual route but rather Southern part of Nashville (for the first time in several years!) saw the entire Bonebreaker wave in various Targets/Walmarts - already had completed Bonebreaker, but it was good to see them on the pegs. I also saw my first windowless/plastic free pack - the Spider-Man and Spinnerete pack - and was definitely not impressed. As has been mentioned it's just not good sense to not show the actual figures inside. I foresee lots of scalping and trash figures included in returns.
Has anyone found the Controller wave stateside yet? I knew it was not likely but I had a little bit of hope I might see something. I guess not until a couple of months from now. |

I honestly don't see plastic-free packaging working out in the long run. Hasbro's intentions are noble, but this new packaging will likely work out better for online sales and will hurt stock and sales being sold in actual stores. Who's going to want to go to a store to buy a figure that they can't see, they don't know what the paint looks like, or even if the figures and accessories shown are actually inside? This also will turn off Mint-In-Box collectors who have been proudly keeping their figures sealed and displayed. I don't care how nice the packaging is, I want the figure to look nice and accurate. That said, it's also going to really hurt the Retro lines if that too goes plastic free. It's rumored Retro won't go plastic free, but it wouldn't surprise me at this rate if Hasbro did go that route.
Hasbro has to come up with a solution to this problem sooner than later. I'm not exactly going to be looking forward to future wish-listing if the figures I get aren't actually in their box. |

X-Men related, I truly hope/maybe expect a classic Avalanche, and Banshee in either GSXM or the Blue/Gold training uniform for the Jim Lee look. It's probably time for them to roll out a Wolverine in that outfit too, I'm actually surprised they haven't done so yet. I'm thinking we'll see another Age of Apocalypse wave but it may be 2025 for the 30th anniversary of that story. Still, I'm hoping we can get some packs or exclusive singles for that in the meantime, even if it's just 2-3 figures a year. The fact we've gotten none of the Horsemen (beyond the 2009 Nemisis) is a large part of why I'm thinking there will be more to come. Other characters to be done before getting into deeper cuts - Storm, Quicksilver, Gambit, Nightcrawler and Dead Man Wade (because of Deadpool general popularity). For me personally, Storm and Abyss are my top priorities here though, but I don't know what we'll see next year, if anything. Another New Warrior and I really hope it's Justice. He's quite a bit more high profile that Namorita and Silhouette, though I hope we get them too eventually. It would also finish the Kurt Busiek lineup, even if not in the extra outfits. I'd love to think we'll get another Thunderbolt or 2, but who knows. I'd honestly take a box set 4 pack of Atlas, Meteorite, Techno and someone already released, priced as a 5 pack since Atlas would be deluxe. As far as Avengers, the ones missing aren't the big names. A comic Sersi would be nice, as would a comic Starfox (even if I don't want him, I know others would), but I'm dubious given one has an MCU figure and it will probably not be too long before we get a MCU Starfox figure (unless Harry Styles has not agreed to have his likeness reproduced). Swordsman and Crystal would be higher profile Avengers missing even if not big names. Monica Rambeau in her Captain Marvel outfit would be fantastic, and I do think there's a chance for that actually, as part of The Marvels line, somewhere in the comic figures made. Spot is very likely given he'll be in a movie, so while it may not be exact comic likeness, it'll probably be close enough to pretend it is. Vintage may be Iron Man related in which case we absolutely need to get a Mandarin. Too many missed opportunities already, this is probably our last chance to get him. I realize the stereotype issues that character has, but he's an integral part of Iron Man's history. Speaking of Vintage, the F4 offerings have some missed opportunities. If we get another set of the Four main characters again before a Wizard I may go mad. Crystal and Attuma could also fit in here, as could Dragon Man and Mole Man. Given the direction the line has gone the last couple of years, and more and more MCU taking over it, there's a handful of characters I've got as priorities that I'm becoming more and more skeptical will ever get made: Count Nefaria, Graviton, Deathbird, Morgan Le Fay, Maximus The Mad, Crimson Cowl, and the aforementioned Atlas, Wizard and Justice. I'd include Exodus, Marrow and Monet in that as well, but the X-Men line has a better likelihood to get wanted figures in, at least until they show up in the MCU. |

The rest of my list is going to be tough due to the huge price increase. Thus, I'm going to be passing on pretty much everything that isn't from the Claremont X-Men run or Spider-Man and Fantastic Four related. My top X-Men wants: Banshee Destiny' Avalanche Blob Brood X-Force Feral X-Factor Wolfsbane Rachel Phoenix 80s Rogue Spider-Man: Romita Sr Spider-Man with webwings Romita Jr Hobgoblin Ox Montanna Fancy Dan Man Mountain Marko Belladonna Cardiac Smythe Jonathan Caesar It feels weird to not have to put Sleepwalker on my list anymore. Fantastic Four: Puppet Master Alicia Masters Diablo Red Ghost Thinker Rama Tut Annhilus Trapster Wizard Crystal Beyond these, my list is really tiny because of the current prices. Like I would most likely buy a classic Falcon if released, but I would probably pass on any other Cap villains except for Arnim Zola unless they were much cheaper. I'm good on DareDevil at this point except for maybe an updated classic DD himself. I might still buy Nightmare, Mordo, and Clea for my Doctor Strange shelf though as it looks pretty barren with just Strange and Dormmamu.

Ooo... always wanted that Figma Zero Suit Samus... never saw it though. Also lots of Godzillas in that collection.
Found a full peg of Iron Spidey today at my Target... feels so weird to see a bunch of a figure I am gonna buy and not instinctively look for the one with the best paint apps. Feels like he is not as popular as I thought he would be though... I wonder if the price has a lot to do with it. I remember during the MU days MU Iron Spidey was very sought after. I should have never played the PS4 Spidey game... it made me like Spidey and a whole bunch of his costumes that I never cared about before. |

And that's not even my full Godzilla collection. I've got some of them boxed up because I don't have room for them. Plus, I've got a few in our main bedroom next to the bed. Two of them include the big and small Imperial ones from the late 80s that TRU sold.
