Been reading most of the responses on the BAF Ch’od. I do think that Hasbro could have shown a little more “love” on this figure. But, from this wave, I know that I will get two or three figures from the wave, and Ch’od most likely will be an impulse buy. Yep I’m a sucker for Marvel Legends, and who know if we will ever get another Ch’od again.
Note: What puts this mold in a bad light is the paint apps and the lack of attention to detail. The first Abomination on this mold was decent, but when Hasbro did second Abomination for the box set on this mold, the dark green hue and shading blended nicely and made the figure visually better, in my opinion. Same goes for the second Rhino on this mold in the Spiderman retro wave, the paint apps and the greater attention to detail just made the figure pop more than the BAF Rhino that was released first.

I'm buying the entire wave, so for me Ch'od is just a bonus anyway. Which is fine and the nature of the BAF figure sometimes. I think the writing may be on the wall, though, regarding how much longer Hasbro is going to continue bothering to make BAFs in the future, but we'll see.

I'm rambling. One last thought, if they stop including BAF parts in the future, I would hope it could bring prices down. I think we all know it won't, but it's an idea. |

I'll buy any X character, so Ch'Od would have been picked up anyway. While this version isn't 100% accurate, it's a fine bonus to the figures I really wanted. But I do agree with you regarding the sustainability of the BAF idea. I don't want to see the idea end, but maybe it would be nicer to get 4 or 5 deluxe characters a year rather than have to get complete waves. I've missed out on some BAF's because I didn't want anyone in the wave. However, at the same time, continuing to use a BAF concept forces people to buy everyone in a wave if they really want to BAF. Granted, there are secondary markets to get the BAF, but somewhere and somehow the equivalent of a full set was purchased to build the figure.

Honestly too, not having a BAF and just moving them to deluxe would be a plus for me at this point. There's several BAFs from the last year or two I would have gotten in deluxe form but not willing to spend money on an extra 5-6 figures. Plus, the only two non-X-Men BAFs I could see me buying now are Atlas and Stegron. I'd add Lockjaw for many people, but I did end up getting the one that came out a couple of years ago, so I'm good there. |

Prices won't go down, as you said yourself, but it's possible that it might mitigate them rising again in the future. I think ~$25 is a tipping point for many people. If it continues to go up, they'll lose more individual sales, or money from the sales made once items are discounted.

Yeah, at $20, I would have bought this wave just for Cho'd and Corsair. At $25, no thank you.

I agree with you on the BAF character wants. I kind of want that Khonshu because he can work as a comic style character, but I don't want a single character in the wave otherwise. Atlas is a strong idea too, but I'm starting to think that I might dump what Thunderbolts I have as the current rising prices really have me rethinking my purchases. The upcoming Avengers wave is a prime example. I initially wanted as many Serpent Society members as possible, but now I'm thinking maybe not. And if I bail on the the Puff Adder BAF, I could cancel preorders on half that wave.
At the end of the day, this is just my thinking, I'm not trying to convince anyone to do anything. But I am curious what other people think. Even X-Men BAF type figures..outside of the AOA Horsemen, while I'd like to see Emplate, Phalanx, Cameron Hodge, the Brood (redone) and Adversary, excepting Emplate, if we never got them I'd also be fine with their omissions. Add to that, for me at least, that X-Men waves are starting to get a little less interesting the last couple of waves. I'm more likely to pick up a whole X-wave than anything else, but that's not even a guarantee...I can see myself passing on the Ch'od wave, but I said that about the Bonebreaker wave too and ending up getting all but Wolverine. balanced out that though, I don't know that I'd get a Ch'od or Brood Queen as a deluxe figure either. I think I'm just to the point that I really wish they'd make those figures near the top of my list...at this point if we got a Justice, Count Nefaria, Graviton, Exodus and updated Mandarin and there was never anything else made I really wanted...I could be happy. I know we all have those particular wishes. And we throw out "oh, I'm sure that they'll be made in another year or two". The problem is getting, that wasn't a year or two ago...but more like 5-6 years ago. Did I get other characters I really wanted? Absolutely and I'm glad for it and realize that not everyone is going to get everything they want. I'm just down a handful of "c'mon hasbro get this done" hopes. |

The problem with X-Men waves is all of the A+ top tier characters have been done in one form or the other, which has left mostly a selection of characters left who, while in cases like Chamber and Monet can fill out collectors' shelves and various X-Teams, are not particularly very exciting. I mean on one hand I'm very happy to start putting together the Starjammers and filling out more of the Imperial Guard to put next to the lonely Gladiator, but on the other I wasn't exactly losing any sleep over not having these figures, either.

If Marvel Legends is going to make a Colossus in his Astonishing X-Men costume, they need to go for the Wolverine and the X-Men animated version (Red pants and Black boots), just to tell the costumes apart since Colossus's astonishing X-Men costume in the comics looks similar to his classic costume. Just a suggestion.

Hey legends collectors, looking for some advice. I don’t collect Marvel Legends, but with the release of Generation X Monet in the red uniform it’s made me really want some figures of the whole team, but there’s no telling when or even if Hasbro will release them, so I’m gonna start down the custom route, Emma Frost I can just get an already existing figure, Banshee I can get the blue and yellow one and manipulate it a bit to match the Gen X Uniform. The real advice I want is on Jubilee and Husk, I figure I can get 3 Monet’s and just switch out the head, so what’s the best Jubilee out there with a removable coat? Also, any good blonde female characters I can substitute for Husk? Thanks in advance.

Not sure about Husk, maybe wait and see how Valeria Richards is going to turn out for a young blonde option. |

If the one time I end up buying every figure because I actually want every figure and the BAF is a real crappy BAF... I would probably curse the Toy Gods for all eternity. I have never wanted more than 4 figures in a wave though, so I doubt it will ever happen. It also hurts when the one fig that I really want is the one that comes with no BAF part... so can't even try and save money by not buying the whole wave.

I just noticed that nearcompleteset.com has added Mephisto, Uatu the Watcher, and lady Death to its list. I thick Mephisto is in need of a Marvel Legends figure in general, I'd welcome a Hasbro Pulse Exclusive if it's possible.

@Comedian
I don’t collect MCU Legends (for the most part), but your glorious photos help me to understand why many do. I’ve seen pictures of just PARTS of your collection and have long since developed a respect for you as one of the Ark’s goliaths, as far as amassed toys are concerned. Great work, you’ve built something to be in awe of and I tip my cap to your dedication to this hobby! |

Great work, you’ve built something to be in awe of and I tip my cap to your dedication to this hobby! I’m really running out of space and honestly steam. Some of these price increases are just tough to swallow. I’m seeing way less for more. I get the increases, but I’m not enjoying everything as much. I’ve always looked at toys as history, and I do love history. For marvel comic figures, I’m about done. I’m priced out at this point. The MCU, as long as I love the media I will keep going. I have yet to find a marvel film or show I didn’t enjoy. I enjoy small collections as much as big ones. The care collectors take with their setups however big or small is just impressive. I love the “toy photography “ but I’m not that artistic for that. Wide pics of a collection. Yup. I can do that. Thanks again. |
