I get the lip-gloss complaints, but that Norman noggin is ace and one of my reasons for ordering. Also, digging Maryjane’s taste in boots…there may be a kit bash in there somewhere. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 04-20-2023 at 10:53 AM.. |

I’m eh on the Adaptoid. I’ll probably get him on inevitable discount. But I’m really liking the Goblin. They did a nice job on the head sculpt.

I like the GG head for the new two pack, but not sure about the body.

Got the new Spider-Verse Gwen in from amazon. Her new costume changes are pretty minimal so I really got this because the figure itself is totally new. Except for the loss of calf-swivels this is the most articulated Spider-Gwen so far in the Legends line. The forward motion in the torso joint still isn't as great as it could be but there's good side and back leaning supplied, pretty much exactly what I said about The Spot's torso joint. Everything else moves nicely though and unlike my Stilt-Man wave figure none of the joints are fused stuck. I do still want more hand options than we're getting here but what we do get is alright for having options. The unmasked portrait is done well and the new slightly longer hair with the pink dyed ends came out nice. This time around her masked head has the eyes sculpted more serious or angry looking, less rounded and much more angular. I checked and the masked head from the Stilt-Man wave version does fit onto this figure. The shape of the hood isn't an exact match so there's some gap around the neck and the pink on that previous version is just off from this new one but it works and provides an alternate masked expression. Paint apps are mostly good but there are some areas of mild bleed on the forearms and the black-to-white boundaries of the torso are a little fuzzy. They didn't paint the pink on the pulled down hood for the unmasked portrait at all though, which they had previously done for the other figures. Overall I certainly like it, another Gwen for the collection. Kinda nice that Hasbro has provided me the opportunity to have almost as many Gwen Stacy figures in my Legends crowd as I do Wolverine.

I am in agreement. I like it, but the price made my eyebrows raise.

Anyone else care to discuss Hasbro’s new wrinkle of incomplete distribution of waves and pre-order offerings that don’t even include every figure for a BAF? What I mean is that I just received notification from BBTS that my Egghead, Crossfire, and Ultron are about ship without the MCU Kang that I also ordered. Additionally, after receiving Yelena and Mr. Orb last week I see that Molecule Man, Extremis Iron Man, Von Strucker, and Wonder Man are now available. This staggered release feels somewhat normal as I’ve noticed this happening with previous waves, however, BBTS has no listing for Ultimate Cap at all and, obviously, no ‘wave’ listing for Puff Adder. The same phenomenon is occurring on BBTS with the Ch’od wave. Everyone is “in stock” with the exception of Monet, and Emma is listed as being available, until you go to the listing itself where it states that she’s not available for “pre-order”….”wha? wait, it just said she was in stock….*groan*” This all is made more conspicuous by the lack of wave/set offerings for Puff Adder, Cassie Lang, and Ch’od (did Hasbro discontinue the ‘full-wave’ e-retail model and I missed it somehow???).
All of this has played havoc on my back up orders, which I believe is the purpose of this new brand of madness. I constantly hedge my bets between Pulse, Zavvi, BBTS, etc. and I’m beginning to wonder if online retailers are issuing full-throated complaints about pre-order cancelations. Is Hasbro purposely mucking around with distribution to certain E-retailers to prevent cancelations with others? I imagine that this cannot be what’s going on behind the scenes because I see no advantage for Hasbro outside of placating retail partners, which, I guess, is reason enough. However, cancellations wouldn’t be such an issue if Hasbro made more of an effort to tighten things up. It’s always been a struggle, but this is a new level of inconsistency and clusterfuck. Edit: Emma was just removed from "in stock," so that must have been a BBTS error... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 04-21-2023 at 07:14 AM.. |

Currently rereading the Claremont run of X-Men and it seriously reaffirms my desire for a proper colored Banshee to put on my team. That dude is seriously awesome!!!

I saw the photos of the Green Goblin and Mary Jane Watson animated two-pack and I am only half impressed. On one hand, Mary Jane Watson is pretty much flawless, aside from the minor cel-shading towards the bottom of her hair. Mary Jane's figure is long requested and, frankly, long overdue.
Then there's the Green Goblin and I could not be more ticked off. For starters, it's the wrong look for Green Goblin. It's literally the Retro Hobgoblin body repainted, but without the cape. Look at the gloves, the belt, and the boots. All of them are not accurate to the animated series. On the animated series, the Green Goblin's gloves are solid, his belt is brown with a solid yellow belt buckle that has a button in the middle, and the boots don't have the cuffed tops that Hobgoblin's has. The Goblin Glider is also the incorrect shape compared to the animated series and, ironically, isn't even the same as the Retro Hobgoblin figure, and BOTH HAD THE SAME GLIDER ON THE ANIMATED SERIES. Green Goblin's head is perfect, but that's it. The Osborn civilian head is pretty good, but this isn't worth the two-pack price to get a great Mary Jane and a mediocre, inaccurate Green Goblin. Sorry if I put a wet blanket on anyone's excitement for the two-pack and the Green Goblin figure, but this is one more underwhelming figure that Hasbro shouldn't have been able to mess up but they did. I hope you all are having a great day and have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe, True Believers. Last edited by StuartGreen2019; 04-21-2023 at 12:46 PM.. |

Didn’t you ask for another smaller Sandman because the BAF was too large, then state that the fig released on the Netflix Cage buck was perfect, only to recently request another because the latest one is too small? |

No offense, Stuart, but you have never really needed much of a reason to call for a figure to be remade and Hasbro has no problem obliging your wish. I’m sure they will use cries such as this to revisit yet another GG soon.
Didn’t you ask for another smaller Sandman because the BAF was too large, then state that the fig released on the Netflix Cage buck was perfect, only to recently request another because the latest one is too small? Going back to the Green Goblin, I stand by my complaints. I think someone who watched "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" should have double checked the figure before approval and made the necessary corrections before it gets mass produced. The problem is that Hasbro never gets any long-requested figure right the first time and when they remake it later, it's always got some kind of a catch with it. Wanting a Marvel Legends figure is like a monkey's paw - when you do get it, something's wrong with it. It could be a bad face sculpt, a lack of accessories, incorrectly painted, but something is going to be wrong with it. The problem here, though, is I could only see them revisiting Green Goblin for either a solo release next year for the series' 30th anniversary year or if we got some kind of "Spider-Man" revival. Otherwise, why else would Hasbro revisit them? As someone who grew up watching "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" when it first aired, I was hoping for a better representation of the Green Goblin. Also, I take no offense to your comments, my friend. There are times when I'm VERY hard to please, as Hasbro knows. I just think that Green Goblin should've been double checked and corrected before approving this figure, is all. Thanks for the reply. |

I was hoping for more "Green" reveals, not just the 2-pack with Green Goblin and Mary Jane Watson.

I was thinking of something like Classic (Giant-Size X-Men) Banshee, Classic Iron Fist, Mega Deluxe Classic Titanium Man, Fin Fang Foom, or any other character in green.

Did I say the Build A Figure Sandman was too big? I honestly don't remember. I must be getting early senility. I never had the Build A Figure of Sandman, I just saw photos of him online in comparison photos. I do think the Retro one is amazing (no pun intended) and have it proudly displayed on my shelf, but I did request another because over time I found myself agreeing with others that I do think the body needed to be bigger. If I don't get a classic Sandman any time soon, I'm fine with that.

Also, in an abundance of fairness to the elderly, a class I will be joining at a point in the not-too-distant future, memory challenges can be a hurdle for any age group and industrialized nations are seeing a disturbing uptick in early onset Alzheimer’s and dementia that seems to have less to do with age and more to do with diet. Now that I’ve gotten that PSA out of the way….yeah, I’m mostly jus’ bustin’ your chops. Fret not, Hasbro will make you another STAS GG in no time. They’ve built it into the profit model. Yes, this would help a great deal Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 04-21-2023 at 02:41 PM.. |
