I'd like a classic Giant-Man, but not from HasLab. I'd be perfectly happy with a deluxe release or a BAF.

I don’t want a Galactus sized Giant Man. Part of me feels it would diminish the Galactus fig. Use the BAF or deluxe formats to deliver Giant Man (Atlas, Goliath, et al) and reserve Haslabs for standouts like Foom, Ymir, Surtur, etc.

My other concern is Giant Man’s design. I’m sure Hasbro will make it look good, but there isn’t much in the way of potential texture for a Giant Man fig. The Sentinel and Galactus benefit from some great tooling, regardless of valid complaints that Galactus isn’t canon enough because of the added details. Most looks for Giant Man simply offer a supersized costume, which doesn’t lend itself to intricate detailing.

I guess we’ll see in three days.

Very excited for this. Hopefully the tiers enhance the Giantman offering…As a ML fan, we needed an update to Giantman…Hopefully we get an update on Wasp, maybe an Ant-thony figure, along with a Yellowjacket figure would be nice add-on imo…

I agree with that. The sweet spot for me would be anywhere from 20-26 inches. The ToyBiz Build-a-figure was 16 inches so he would have to be noticeably bigger if they want to make any impact. Perfect would be 23. Big enough to sucker punch the Sentinel but still shorter. Like Rocky and Ivan Drago. There will of course be stretch goals but I would hope classic cone hat Wasp is part of the base offering. I hope they get creative. I want to see something like a cloud of ants that can go around a figure or work as a base. A big textured lump of translucent plastic air brushed with black.

That could be pretty incredible. Maybe around 20" tall with massive fantastically articulated wings. They should do that.

I really think they are reserving Foom as an ultimate, or penultimate Haslab with characters like Surtur. Hasbro’s definitely running on some ‘one-upmanship’ energy with their approach to ToyBiz’ high watermark releases, especially those that are still held in relatively high regard by long term collectors. They’ve waited on Giant Man imo because the BAF has been one of the most celebrated of ToyBiz’ run and is still routinely found on collector’s shelves. I don’t think it’s necessary to go head-to-head like that, but many fans want updates of numerous older figs like Dragon Man (I’m on the fence with this one), Spider-Hulk (count me out), Blackheart (count me in), etc making it more of a matter of ‘when’ will they be made rather than ‘if’.

Again, my concern is that a Giant man will hit the right notes for a well-engineered and technically sound enormous fig, but lack the splash needed because there just isn’t much to his look outside of being huge. The promo pics are already leaning in that direction with a silhouetted shadow screaming, “look a how large the figure is!” Well, yeah, it’s Giant Man, that’s his thing. However, the fig simply being huge doesn’t necessarily make this a no brainer. Many collectors don’t even have the space for these centerpiece monstrosities (affectionately phrased) and Giant Man might be better received in a smaller format since he can vary in size. Additionally, it feels a little cruel to place a classic Wasp and Yellow Jacket behind a paywall of Haslab proportions.

I feel like people with the Toybiz giant man in their collection might see this as an easy pass like I am currently...

Tier wise these need to be really good figures. I reckon one of them will be yellow jacket.

I feel that wasp (Janet) should be part of the base offering, maybe with a flight stand that pegs into giant man's back.

I don't want an alternative head e.g. an unmasked head , they need to do the same as what they did with galactus to give us alternative mouths otherwise that is another paper weight, to the collection.

At the end of the day it varies on the price, like if they're up scaling a current body mould with extra details then the base offering will need to be very good.

part of me thinks this might be another engine of vengeance situation.

Everyone's saying Yellow Jacket but what about just a golden Iron Man 60th anniversary figure repaint. Not everyone would feel the need for it and it would've probably been an exclusive anyway. Perfect little karat carrot. And if we're going classic Avengers what about the Space Phantom? Sure it's a character that's never had a figure but I strongly doubt any casual collector gives a crap about the guy.

Well I know I may get stones thrown at me but I’m doing it anyway. I want an MCU giant man. I have no need for the comic version. So if it’s that I’m happy for everyone, but I’m not jumping in.

I always hoped those 20 inch jakks pacific figures would have done an mcu version. That would have been perfect.

Not my choice since I don't really want it to be Giant Man at all. That said, and looking at FWOOSH Haslab speculation, you aren't alone in wanting the MCU version.

The scuttlebutt appears to be that the Giant Man Haslab will be $199. Some seem to think the speculated lowered price might indicate that the fig isn’t as large as Galactus, maybe not even as large as the Sentinel. So your “slightly taller slightly taller man” may not be too far off.

Huh. He’s both pricier than I would have expected, taller than I need him to be, and the tiers are really underwhelming. This went from a tentative yes to a pass.

The tiers are what really has me miffed: two bonus face-plates don’t do much to enhance value. Conversely, I’m relieved that classic Wasp isn’t pay-walled behind the HasLab like many had suspected.

Also the smiling face-plate is nightmarish.

Some pretty lame Stretches. No other figures at all? Not a campaign I'm interested in. It seems uninspired.

Long time no post. I hope everyone is well.
The Giant Man HasLab is very nice, and the price is right. However, over the summer, I cleared out about 150 Legends. I cut my Avengers display down pretty hard. The Toy Biz Giant Man BAF fits perfectly in my display, even if he's kneeling. If this new one wasn't 2 feet tall, I could find a spot for him. I'm not complaining, just stating my situation. So I won't be backing him, but I hope it fully funds. It really does look nice!
