Nice. Several thoughts here:
Finally, an Iron Man Retro Wave Absolutely stoked to see the Nefaria rumor/leak was true. he's actually been my most wanted since Justice got made, but with the rumors I decided to not jinx it and didn't put him up as my avatar. And it's in the outfit I was really hoping for. Thirdly, this does not detract from the fact we're getting Nefaria in any way, but I think now that we've have an Iron Man Retro wave without him, there's no hope for a Mandarin from Hasbro. To me, that was kind of the last chance. Still want one, badly made, but I'm thinking the political and racial issues with the character have prevented him from being made again. |

All those Iron Man figures and not a single Mandarin. They really hate Iron Man's main nemesis, don't they? Oh, and I would have bought the version of Nefaria who killed Thunderbird, not that version.
Anyway, I was not planning to get Ben, buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I came across him in Target today and he looked too cool to pass on. ![]()

All of them look fantastic! She-Hulk is especially impressive, it's just the outfit I was hoping for her! The lack of accessories for her is a shame, though. There's so much empty space in her plastic casing. It's nice to see Count Nefaria is finally getting a figure. Of the Iron Men armors, Model 09 is the one I want the most. It looks like the one from the 1990 Impel Marvel Universe trading card I had as a kid!
![]() That said, it's weird only one Iron Man figure has an alternate head of Anthony Stark included. I hope this will be like the "Retro Spider-Man" series and will have another wave next year or the year after. It'd be a shame if this was a one-and-done wave. It'd be nice to see characters like Blizzard, Century, Madame Masque and Scarlet Witch on this old Toy Biz box art. I'm also curious if this means that the rumored "Heroes Reborn" Iron Man figure will be in whatever the Avengers wave for 2024 turns out to be. @Veronica Mars - Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that Nightcrawler will be a guest star on "X-Men '97". If we got a Nightcrawler figure because it was MORPH appearing as him on the show, that'd be unfortunate. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see our favorite Fuzzy Elf appear at least once in season one of the series. EDIT: I'm glad that Mandarin is coming. I'm curious if he's going to be comic book accurate or with green skin like the '90s "Iron Man" animated series. Time, and Hasbro, will tell... That seems to be happening with some of the pinless figures, Power Princess and some of the Classified series Joes are like that too. I suspect it could be because the plastics are different

Oh, that's very good news then. Mandarin is easily my most wanted "redo/alternate outfit/non-new character" for the line, so if they said that, then I'm happy. I have my preferences but I'll take any Mandarin at this point, even the green skin, first appearance or business suit looks.

I have finally finished reading the omnibuses to both Uncanny X-Men V4 and New Mutants V1
Things got weird with some of the stories halfway through both books as if the teams weren't giving them their all, especially New Mutants. The art got weird, which worked for the Demon Bear trio, as it gave the story a horror feel to it and it was a really solid story overall. However, this new style made it hard to see what was happening, especially during the last two arcs revolving around a gladiator arena and Shadow King, as they were overly complicated and convoluted. The Secret Wars II excerpt in the middle didn't help matters either becuase I had no idea what is happening in SWII. On the other hand, I did like the development between Magneto and Lee, as she got a bum deal when Cyclops ditched her for Madelynne. Warlock was an interesting character, though, his abilities are inconsistent. It seems he gets weaker when the plot needs him to be weaker. I am trying to figure out when Doug joined the team beause he was brain washed by White Queen at her school, he wasn't with the New Mutants when they escaped, but like two issues later he is apart of the team. He didn't even know he had mutant abilities the last time I saw him. As for X-Men, stories seem to lose their luster after Secret Wars, though the 6 parter with Kitty in Japan and taking up the name Shadow Cat was interesting. I had no idea that was actually why she started calling herself by the Shadow Cat moniker. The battle with the Helions that introduced Firestar and Warpath was a good read even though they knocked Banshee out like a bitch. Was this Firestar's first appearance ever? I had no idea she was an X-Men character as I only knew her from that Spider-Man cartoon and New Warriors. Storm leaving is sad since she is my favorite mutant, but her departure makes sense. I'm not really feeling Rachel right now though. Something about her characterization right now bothers me and I'm not sure how to describe it. Overall, I am still glad I have finally gotten to read through both books even if the stories weren't the best of the best here. I can't wait to tackle the next volumes, but first, a short break to read the second volume to the original TMNT comics.

Looking at the previews for the new McFarlane Starfire, they’re having the same issue I expect to see the F4 repaint next year closer to the release of the new movie, maybe they'll do another retro F4 wave

@Veronica Mars - I'd love to see another Fantastic Four Retro wave! It'd be a great way to get characters like Mole Man, Wizard and Trapster! I'd also love to see a disguise Thing with a trench coat and hat and of the Invisible Woman in her 1995 uniform with the opera gloves (not the two-piece version, mind you, the one after). Also, am I alone in wanting figures of the "Heroes Return" uniforms for the Fantastic Four?

![]() Found Tombstone at Walmart last night. Lonnie was actually the one I was most interested in getting from this assortment so it's nice to have that hunt out of the way. I liked the wrestling supervillain type outfit we got in the Vulture wave but the plain suit was his first appearance and is most often how he looks.
