you spoiled little ingrate. I swear you gotta be Shartimusprime.

By the way, there's not a whole lot to do with a giant space alien bulldog toy with a frikkin tuning fork attached to its damn head

Head's up, True Believers! Over on The Fwoosh, Entertainment Earth had an update that "Marvel Legends" Retro wave for "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars". The biggest take-aways from the news are that it's being listed as "Wave 1", there will be six figures, the release date is listed as January 2025, and - brace yourselves - each figure will apparently be $33.99 each, as a case of all six figures is listed at $199.99.

I have no idea who will be the six figures, but I hope this means that there WILL be a Wave 2 for other characters.

If I had to guess (and I'm always wrong), I'd say that, in addition to the brown-and-tan Wolverine shown at SDCC, the figures will be Captain America, Spider-Man (I'm betting on the red-and-blue classic costume, since he was in the first wave of Mattel's "Secret Wars" toylines), Iron Man, Doctor Doom and Magneto. I'd love for one of the figures to be Doctor Octopus with bendy wire tentacles, but I'm pretty certain Hasbro wouldn't give him a solo release for just $34. Kang seems unlikely to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if he made the cut.

What do you guys think of the news?

They better be loaded up with a massive amount of accessories for $34.

Agreed. If they're going to give us "Secret Wars" figures at that price, I hope that we get our money's worth. I'm expecting at least alternate hands and an alternate head for everyone. The "Marvel Legends" 20th Anniversary figures had a lot of accessories and I think those were the same price as these seems to be. Maybe the "Secret Wars" figures could give us Easter egg accessories, like an alternate broken shield for Captain America and alternate hands with black claws for Wolverine like the old Mattel toy had. And if the lenticular shields aren't included, then what's the point?

I'm also thinking effects. Like if they decided to do Cyclops, he needs to have multiple blast effects and heads. Hell, every figure should also include a diorama piece.

No. Alt head and hands are the bare minimum for standard figures. Upcoming Bloodstorm for example. If they're seriously going to slap a $35 price tag on these, it needs to be alt headS, 2 sets of hands, accessories and/or effects. Also the price hike better just be for this Secret Wars line and not across the whole line

Well, you might be right if these figures are in fact $33.99 each. The Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary figures were $31.49, if I remember correctly, and Hulk was like $40, so maybe we'll see just as many accessories for each figure.

In terms of character selection, I'm keeping my expectations low. The 20th Anniversary figures were the original four, so I'm keeping in mind, until Hasbro proves me wrong, that we're seeing figures of six of the eight characters from the original Mattel "Secret Wars" wave. Again, since this is listed as Wave 1, I hope this means we'll see a Wave 2 next year. After all, we got two waves for the "X-Men '97" line, so maybe we can get at least two for "Secret Wars". Updates for Thor, Colossus, Titania, Absorbing Man, the Wrecking Crew, a re-release of the Lizard I can actually find, and a new Hulk with butterfly shoulder joints, clapping hands and better face sculpts (and better hair than the 20th Anniversary figure) would be very much appreciated, Hasbro.

I'm also hopeful we'll see surprise two-packs and boxed sets based on "Secret Wars". I would actually be VERY surprised if Hasbro only makes six figures based on "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars", considering how many heroes and villains are in that story. There are so many wish-list characters that Hasbro can easily put on the "Secret Wars" Retro box art and watch them sell out within minutes.

@Dr Kain - I'm sure that we're getting Cyclops in his '70s suit sooner than later, especially after the character wore that costume on "X-Men '97". An alternate head of Scott Summers and red optic blast accessory are a must whenever we do get a figure for that Cyclops figure. Diorama pieces would be cool and very much appreciated for the "Secret Wars" figures.

Next Friday can't get here fast enough. As long as we get a sold separately Doc Ock on a new body mold and with bendy wire tentacles for "Secret Wars" or another "Marvel Legends" wave after it, I'll be one happy customer.

Lockjaw is a huge chunk of plastic with parts that have zero potential for re-use, I'm surprised they are making him at all. $45 isn't bad in my opinion.

34 bucks for that retro card shit? Hasbro must want legends to fail.

They are testing the market for 'deluxe' pricing. If they deliver better paints, accessories, and tooling/articulation I could be in as a collector. However, if they fumble the ball and underdeliver, this could be where we part ways...thanks for the memories.

I remarked that Lockjaw was lackluster at the reveal. Had Hasbro done the character justice and put in the effort they did with Zabu, I would have paid $50-$60 for it similar to the Xanathar, Owlbear, and the Displacer Beast. As is, I don’t even want that disappointment next to the other members of the royal family.

So what they're going to do is put out an amazing initial offering and then slowly trickle down to Speedball

At a $25 price point, I agree on Jada. But if we are talking about moving to a higher-end Marvel Legend to compete with Mythic Legions and other $30-$40 wares, then Boss Fight is my preferred go to. They already cobbled a soft America Chavez with La Borinquena and Jolt with La Luminosa.

Alternate hands, a power effect. How often is Speedball depicted with some floating bubbles around him?
