Pretty much this. It may have been a dodgy storyline at best, but when Claremont took the X-Men back to the Savage Land in "World's End," Storm was forced by a hypnotised Rachel to destroy the world, and she almost ended the entire planet quite easily. Even then, Storm's sheer force of will was preventing a Phoenix Force-empowered being from taking full control of her abilities, so the end-of-the-world storm she summoned was only for starters. Sentry is the epitome of deus ex machina, but Storm herself is one tough cookie.

Plus, who doesn't love an "underdog" against a god?

Better yet, let's just have a Storm-dedicated wave. First Appearance Storm, Paul Smith/Mohawk Storm, Jim Lee Storm, X-Treme X-Men Storm, Modern/Utopia Storm, and a Build-an-Effect tornado. Sound about right?

Nice choices. I really would like a white outfit Storm. less sold on the X-Treme X-Men outfit (for any of those characters). They were a little over the top for my tastes, some of them barely covered anything at the same time. I'm not sure how the creators pulled that one off but they did.

Nice. I bet if someone went there and looked they would find dozens of the Nemesis wave unopened in boxes. Ready to ship to nowhere.....

So with speculation it suddenly dawn on me.. we kinda have 4 x-men related movies that have been announced so far
Gambit , Wolverine 4 , Deadpool , and X-men Apocalypse.
now not sure when wolverine 4 is out but most films come out in 2016 ... not sure 100% on gambit but i think he was.
and that made me thought what is there after that ? if no movies does this mean no future x-men waves ??? I know the latest x-man is magik but like after 2016 will we get more x-men it does seem unlikely , they could add some in the civil war to pay tribute to the comic but that being said it doesn't look like because of SDCC images

The X-Men played no part in the Civil War anyway, so that would be nonsense. Except for Cable and Bishop for 2 scenes, they'd have no business making X-Men for that wave.

What is there after that? The question is also what is there "during" that. Wolverine btw is 2017 but the other three movies are next year, you'd think they'd have shown things for those at SDCC. Now you could say, no that is too soon to be showing that stuff. But what they showed at SDCC IS for 2016. So it fits right in time wise. I sadly don't believe we'll be getting anything in support of these films except maybe a random Deadpool or Wolverine.

ah was thinking of AvX -_-... i suppose cable and bishop would be cool...
plus they're giving us a BAF onslaught red skull which as well has nothing to do with civil war ... i think that what confused me. So in way they gone off topic with that wave. I suppose due it being red-skull is linked with captain america

Not so sure on that. I think I read somewhere that Singer said this was the end of a trilogy. Also Lawrence is ready to leave from what I've read, and I believe these films are the last for McAvoy and maybe Fassbender, I think I read that about McAvoy for sure but maybe not on Fassbender? And of course Jackman, if you count him in this trilogy, is out after Wolverine.

I don't have links though just recollecting from memory. So it sounds like if there's more films after Wolverine it will be a reboot.

Yeah I've pretty much stopped collecting, although I'll still read when I can get my hands on some cbr files, need to catch up from last year

Print vs digital issue though is a different matter entirely than the amount of titles being published.
Very interesting didn't know that...that's why very few comics places will even give you $ much less in trade for old stuff. I have one place that does that and got rid of the stuff that I really don't want. But now tempted to see the ones that have some ebay value...

Where is the collect-ability with digital? i discovered digital comics as of last year, i was impress at the fact i can put a whole volume, quite a few TPB, and or just numerous different series on a flash drive and carry them to work. digital is good for the tech geek people or just want to read here and there. a real collector will continue to collect the paper version. I'm not seeing any digital copies of comics ever getting the values that amazing fantasy # 15, Avengers # 1 and X-men # 1. Comics are not just for reading but are also an investment if need be.

Until a system is in place that offers a fair (read less than print due to no cost of materials, shipping, etc) price and free usage to download and keep your digital issues or use them in a preferred digital reader they are not going to see an upswing. Marvel and DC have learned nothing from the years upon years of knowledge garnered by digital music. Instead they have taken the same stance the music industry did previously. They lock down their digital content or charge a price that is perceived as unfair for said content and people rebel by going outside the system or simply not bothering at all. There will always be people that will pirate content. It is another fact of life. Until they realize that and stop punishing those who go through the proper means, they will not grown their business.

Then there are the readers like me. I grew up with physical comics but would MUCH prefer to move to a digital system as I have lost all interest in the collection aspect and just want to read the stories. Plus I am running out of room for physical issues. Those problems have kept me (and many others based on reading posts around the web) from making the jump to digital and continuing to buy their products. I currently buy using Previews orders from Midtown. The discount is less than I would pay for either physical or digital at release and in the case of Marvel, I still get a digital code. However, if I could do the same Previews ordering through Comixology, get a discount for agreeing 3 months in advance to buy the issues and save archives of my comics to my hard drive that I can then read in another reader should I choose, I would make the jump right away. As it stands, I am considering stopping again because of the mentioned issues.

They need to get away from these big universe spanning arcs or team cross-over that used to drive sales back in the day. Sure they might be great stories but they also tend to force anyone who wants to get the whole story to buy issues they really do not want. With modern casual readers, that just does not work. Make titles more self-contained such as Avengers related, Spider-Man related, X-Men related, Marvel Cosmic, etc and forego the cross-overs. I still cannot tell you what happened with The Black Vortex event from nearly 6 months ago since I refused to buy the X-Men titles that tied in with the Guardians of the Galaxy titles. I will just wait for them to show up on Marvel Unlimited.

Sorry for the long semi-hijack post....
Nothing wrong with your post, I agree with you, that's why I stopped buying comics altogether. It's actually a nice monthly savings for me too, and yeah I still prefer the hard copy vs the digital print, but at the end of the day, space is def a factor!

Space is definitely a factor. I started out at the beginning of the year with twelve long boxes of comics and am down to six, I spent all of my free time the first half of the year scanning to clear up some space. It's a lot of work but I have a bit more space and all those comics on a drive and the cloud now instead of physically where they could be burned up, flooded, etc collecting dust or mold.

Now granted, the books I really enjoyed are the ones I did not scan. It was still over 2000 books, and most of them were books I just found I didn't even really care if I had them or not but I didn't want to lose them completely, either.

If space is a factor then Ebay, your local flea market, and garage sales are definitely ones friend.

I'm currently at 4 long boxes of comics, one long box almost filled and 1 short box that's almost filled as well. i have been contemplating on selling on ebay and when december hits this upcoming year i'll be heading to the flea market.

I said it in my previous post, and i'll say it again now, where is the value or invest of just reading digitally? All my graded comics are worth a pretty penny... for whatever reason IF i were to decide to get rid of them i would walk away with a few grand. you can't say the same with digital comics.

The current climate is not exactly a 'seller's market' and I'm glad I offloaded 2/3rds of what I owned years ago. Had I tried to do it now, I'd be doing it at a considerable loss or I'd still be waiting for things to sell years later...the craziest phenomenon is how much TPB's are going for these days. People seem to want to hold on to some tangible aspect of comic collecting, while having them in a format that's easier to store and access.

Well they helped go through the rubble at the beginning to help get survivors out, but that was really it for their involvement in the main Civil War comics.

Also, can it really still be called a TPB if it's a hardcover? The answer: yeah sure nobody really cares about that.

Well if your a collector, you know majority of collectors go for first appearances, origin issues, #1 issues, and final issues of comics series. oh and it is a sellers market. the thing being raw comics and when i saw raw i mean Not graded are going for a fraction of what a CGC graded comic goes for. Considering your still reading abit of modern stuff, do you have any idea how much Spider-Gwen's first appearance was going for last year and the beginning of this year? about $ 60 bucks for a ungraded copy and a graded 9.8 was fetching in the triple digits price range. i could go on and on about certain GRADED copper era comics now fetching in the $1k to $2K dollar price range. there still is a following. even if i were to sell ALL my comics for a buck a piece i would still walk off with my pockets more filled then just someone who's spending money on a digital volume of any title.

Like i said, im not knocking digital format for reading purposes but i am knocking it for there being no value at all coming back from it. i enjoy being able to pull my flash drive out with sumatra and start reading marvel comics presents, amazing spider man, incredible hulk etc...

I'll take your word for it. However, I've read story after story of long-term, old timey (in their 40's...scary that 40 is considered old) collectors thinking they are going to sell their collection to pay for their kid's college tuition or daughter's wedding, only to find out that they aren't recouping anywhere near what they anticipated. Additionally, my personal experience has been that there is a big difference between what something is valued at and what someone will actually pay.

I have seen books like The Walking Dead listed at astronomical prices, but I regard that phenomenon as largely inflated. The consuming public fancies are quite mercurial in nature. What's hot today, and what's hot 5 years from today changes as often as the breeze. If you have stuff that you think you eventually want to move, and you are confident about what you can get for it, then sell it while it's hot. The trends within comic collecting (format) are rapidly changing and many people are jumping off of books entirely. JMO...

once again i agree with you !! the money maker now isn't just the comic nowadays though, it's also being graded and being a good grade. also any of the guys in their 40s probably have ALOT of the 90s mass produced same with me that's when i got crazy into the comics as a teen and finally within the last year or so have some of these titles began to skyrocket. example new mutants #98 ( first Deadpool ) and or batman adventures # 12 ( first Harley quinn in a comic ) both are fetching up to $1700 bucks nowadays.

i still feel there will be a following of the paper versions due to old school collectors and the people wanting an investment. however your right some do just want to read and have everything on a drive rather then in a box, but they won't be getting Any type of return from those when the time comes to get rid of them or pass them down.
