Totally. That being said though, I actually prefer the Death from the 1st release. Less white on the skull face. That's me being really picky though haha.

I want that Rogue... but not for anything beyond $20, and that is with her being sealed in her package.

I should have said false hope, lol. It would be nice if it came out.

And back to $34.95. I MIGHT pick him up at some point in the future for the lower price. It's not a figure I was dying to get but it might be a cool addition.

I think the thing that bugs me the most is the whole "I didn't know what I was buying and I opened it and threw out the packaging before I realized what I had." story. What a crock. Anyone who collects Marvel Legends knows exactly who that figure was and recognizes it's significance, especially since he said he bought it and opened it, which there was no way that was happening without him dropping a little change on it. I'm not buying it.

There are some really talented customizers out there, and with the recent supply of this mold popping onto ebay via our Chinese friends, it wouldn't surprise me if this figure or others like it are elaborate, well crafted hoaxes. The astronomical price alone should be a red flag. Any actual Rogues floating around out there should be placed in an auction house like Zach's, where the authenticity can be verified, and not on a website like ebay.

It's possible that the figure is a sample seen at one of the Cons a few years ago. And some of those figures were in packages. Both the eBay seller and Hasbro's HQ are in Rhode Island. I don't think it would be much of a stretch to think the figure was given to someone as a gift. Mattel made special JLU Hal Jordan Green Lanterns to give to the staff at WB who worked on the show. And the WB staff turned around and sold them on eBay for $3,000 or more.

I'm not discounting the theory that this could be a custom but it's possible that it could be legit. Either way, the seller is totally being greedy by starting the auction at $1,000.

This is getting ridiculous.

I keep looking at him and the other 3 from the Hulkbuster wave I need (like every few hours) and I have yet to see them preorderable from Amazon itself. WTF AMAZON!!!?

Anyway, I got my Silver Surfer today.

Positives: Except for the legs, the joints are quite tight, especially the ab crunch. The paint job is really nice and I love the use of the blue around the silver. Another thing that rocks are the magnets in his feet as the board stays nice attached to the legs (as long as you don't hold him by the board, at least) that I have never been able to get a peg to do. I also love that it allows him to be moved into different poses while riding the board. The Howard the Duck figure is a nice bonus.

Negatives - The legs are loose, especially in the knees, so he has trouble balancing in certain poses. This could have been avoided if they had used ratchet joints like Hasbro uses today. Also, it seems like the silver paint is rubbing off, especially in his shoulder joints. The magnet in his left foot is scratching the board and has taken some paint off already (as you can see in one of the pictures). Oh, and the lack of rocker ankles.

Despite my issues, this figure is awesome!! I'm quite glad that I got him even though I think he was $5 more than he was worth. The paint job is fantastic and I just love that I have a fully posseable 6 inch Surfer, and one who can actually stay attached to his board for more than a minute.

Yeah, I'm a BIG proponent of the $.99 no reserve auction. With a rare item where you KNOW people are looking for it (or aware of it), that's always how you get the highest price, and you know the market set the price. He might have gotten $400, he might get $1500, but without starting it at 99 cents, he's just showing people he has it.

Yeah, if it started at a lower price there would be a lot of people who would bid and think "Another dollar won't hurt anything" and keep bidding past the point they usually wouldn't. But starting it at $1,000, people will tap out and not bid at all.

It'd be nice to see the figure make it to the hands of the guys at Casting Cave or Glassman Customs. There could be some official heads for all of the headless Rogue bodies coming from China.

Finished this dude today. He is huge. I didn't realize he was going to be so damn big. Last week, I got my order in from toys r us for the rhino wave. I'm glad I ordered 2 chameleons. Seems like he's going to be the hardest one to find with all the bodies going towards all the other marvel insta-customs.
