I'm no fool, I know why Hasbro makes these BAFs, and it's like many of you have said, to sell waves of figures that people might not normally take interest in (such as the recent HulkBuster and Ultron waves). However, that doesn't mean that Hasbro couldn't make the selling of BAF pieces a timed exclusive only to HTS by say...releasing the individual pieces for sale maybe 4 or 5 months after a wave debuts. That way, people who weren't able to find certain figures to complete their BAFs (like many weren't initially with Mandroid due to Black Widow's rarity) without having to break the bank on Ebay. It would also allow people to army build BAFs if they wanted to, without having to hunt down entire waves or duplicates of figures they own all over again (like the recent Allfather series did.) It also benefits people like me, who had one defective piece in their BAF from having to scour ebay in hopes of a replacement.

Not saying that Hasbro should get rid of the BAFs altogether, as even I agree it is a great sales pitch, but it would be nice to have slightly more options to obtaining them than to deal with unscrupulous BAF part scalpers on the secondary market.
Yeah... not going to happen. Hasbro has no reason to care what happens on the secondary market. Part of the unfortunate "you snooze, you lose" aspect of collecting.

The very same show. TRU has the bikes in the hot wheel aisle, or they are on Amazon.

But there lies the problem, you shouldn't be expecting and accepting it. I really thought they would fix it, as it was a wide complaint on many review videos, at least the popular reviewers. Hasbro claims to be listening to fans, but that seems like a farce.

What type of magnets? How do you do this? Do you just install them in the peg holes? I'm curious.

He has a really good tutorial on how he does it down in the customs section.

*edit* errr....well, he did but it's gone now.

Yeah, sorry peeps. I took my tutorials down because I planned to start my own how-to site after getting called out for "showing off" mods I came up with on certain toy forums. I've been too busy lately to put in work on it though. I also sort of lost my enthusiasm for sharing ideas with others after getting trolled about them. Just doing my own thing now =)

That's just ridiculous, Zoffy. I'm sorry to hear that you became the object of someone's pettiness and insecurity. I'd wondered why you stopped posting pics. I'm not big on customs, but yours (the few I saw) were very, very well done. Frankly, some of the best I'd seen. I always thought it was curious that you didn't post on the custom thread. Your mods/customs were superior to 99% of what I've seen on there, barring one or two regulars. Anyway, please let us all know when your site is up. Even as a 'non-moder' I'd visit to see what you came up with....that Phoenix you were creating was looking particularly delectable. Did you ever finish her?

In other news, my Hulkbuster wave arrived on Friday:

Unfortunately, I'll be selling and replacing my Valkyrie due to a torn right shoulder peg (also the reason for her not being posed very dynamically). Between Hasbro's insistence on this softer grade of plastic, and the awkward positioning within the package itself, I was delivered a brand-new 'broken' toy...Whoot! Additionally, I will likely end up selling (or parting-out) my Hulkbuster and replacing that fig (given the cost, I'm really not looking forward to that ). I had to blow-dry the column that connects the abdomen to the sternum (pelvis to trunk? I'm clueless about the names for these parts) just to get it to rotate. However, after assembly, the fig's upper body is difficult to twist and makes horrendous 'click'-ing noises when I try to do so. While I don't plan to take many pics with it, I'd like to have one that works correctly. Kinda of a bummer that I'd have two lemons within the same wave...

That's by design. Its a ratchet joint, they all do that.

@JamesBenjamin

Oh, what a relief. Thank you for sharing that (you saved me from the inevitable fit of rage I would have had when I secured a new HB, only to find out it was the same). Although, I do wish mine was a bit more loose...I feel like I'm going to rip it in half every time I turn the fig's upper body. I consider this to be a pretty significant design flaw...

get some shock oil for tight joints

Amazon.com: Team Associated 5425 80 Weight Silicone Shock Oil, 2-Ounce: Toys & Games

tutorial:

-sorry just read it was a ratchet joint and not ball and socket. Don't have a hulkbuster. This is still really useful for overly tight friction joints to prevent breaks.

@T16skyhopp

Hey, thanks man! This is still useful for figs with joints so tight that manipulating them presents a risk for damage to the peg. I may have been able to save the Valkyrie had I used this. I noticed the awkward positioning from the start, but the peg tore before my very eyes as I tried to manipulate the damn bicep...I used a bit too much force..."Hulk smash puny figure!"

Just curious, there is the solution with Shock Oil for tight joints, but what about loose joints?

There's a lot of methods I use to address loose joints, but in regards to your loose ab joint situation that you've mentioned several times , I use thin styrene strips to create "shims" that I wedge into loose ab joint gaps in order to take up excess space and add traction. This works on other joint sections as well, and it's just one alternative to the often messy and unpredictable super glue method. I'll see if I have example pics I can post to explain it better.

@Blue Marvel
Thanks for the encouragement, BM! Hopefully after I close on my new house, I'll be able to get my display and workbench set up quickly to start working on the how-to site. Right now, home selling and buying has me too stressed out to focus on customs and mods... Lol

for loose ball and socket joints that you can pop apart, i just put a tiny piece of paper in there.

If you need to build up a part, like a peg, or need to work something into a joint you cant dissassemble, I hear Pledge clear floor polish with "future" finish is really good. It can be washed off if needed and it's supposedly less chemically damaging to plastic than super glue. Have yet to get some myself though. Clear nail polish is used by lots of people as well.

I'm a fan of the nail polish method myself. Glue can work well but it's less consistently successful.

Seriously? The nerve of some people. You are always amazingly helpful and offer great ideas you have found or created while asking nothing in return. The fact that someone treated you like that irritates me to no end. Like TBM I am definitely looking forward to your site once you get it going and would love to see more pictures of your work.

I was actually thinking along the lines of the loose knees my Silver Surfer has, but I'll have to try the method you talked about for my Ghost Rider's ab crunch.

I second this, I loved your mods and have been wanting to install magnets for awhile myself, but I need a new Dremel and they won't stop making toys that I want. Sorry to hear that you took it down because of some trolls, hope to be seeing some of your tutorials again.

Wait a minute, how can you get called for "showing off" mods? What do you mean by showing off?
