It may have been hard to get when it came out but you can get the Purple one for fairly cheap now and even the Black variant has dropped a bunch. They should be thinking about the consumers when making these BAF figures.
By that logic, we wouldn't be getting Jim Lee Rogue. After all, Toy Biz made her too.

I think it's a lot easier to justify a single figure redo though, as opposed to a BAF redo. I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just pointing out it's a slightly different scenario.

I'm only talking about BAF figures.

Hasbro has thoroughly impressed me with the Absorbing Man and Onslaught waves. It seems like they are expanding past the repaint/new headsculpt that we have been seeing on most figures these past few years. Beetle has a new female hand sculpt and hip detail, Mockingbird has a new mid sculpt, forearm detail AND sculpted boots, and Venom, Cap and Gwen have alternate heads. Hopefully we'll get to see more emotive heads, as while you've pointed out BM that the villainous heads are looking brilliant, now we just need some angry/battle face variants for the heroes. Nothing says static more than a neutral expression!

Hasbro has been making leaps and bounds with their BAFs in the last two years, so let's hope they begin giving us more bang for our buck on the regular figures. Rogue and the two 2016 waves seem to be pointing in the right direction for sure.
I'm also very impressed by these two upcoming waves. Characters that I had no investment in previously (i.e. Beetle, Venom, and Scourge), are now figs I want to add to my collection due to improvements in sculpt/design. Hasbro, in my opinion, is making concerted efforts to improve the variety of their figs and I believe it has everything to do with fan feedback.

Specifically regarding your inquiry about shared parts between Stryfe and Taskmaster, they appear to be different. A fact that I find to be very exciting! Beyond the size difference between the two sets of legs, Stryfe's musculature is sculpted into his thigh armor whereas Taskmaster's leg armor is more realistic/modern/mech-inspired. Additionally, Taskmaster's knee-pads and shin sculpt also appear to be different with detailed rivets and seams. Finally, the ankles and boots function as the icing on the cake featuring a sturdy and functional looking base....I REALLY hope these parts (along with the arms and shoulder pauldrons) find their way onto a new Doom!

As far as the BAFs are concerned, again I agree with your take that Hasbro has been improving...comparisons with other versions aside, the Hulk Buster was a resounding success. That said, bigger doesn't always mean better. I have many ToyBiz and Hasbro BAF's, most notably Giantman and Apocalypse (the black version, which I actually found the components for in stores). I love them both. They're HUGE. However, they also have their faults; Apocalypse's hands are funky and Giantman is limited exclusively to retro line-ups. I'll trade massive BAF's for more detailed smaller versions with topical/more current renditions (i.e. Thanos, Odin, Rhino, and the pending Absorbing Man). I do agree with many fan criticisms of the small and average size BAF's such as Hit Monkey, Rocket Racoon, Puck, Jubilee, and Green Goblin. I love these figs also, but they could have been worked in as carded offerings.

but if someone didn't have those characters already I can see why they would want them. but it doesn't negate the fact that it would be a letdown for me.

This is the same mindset that I carry. If I'm going to invest anywhere up to nearly 100 dollars or more on a BAF, I'd prefer it to be something that I don't already have, or something that offsets a ridiculous aftermarket price of previous offerings (see Pitt, Fin Fang Foom, Ronan, etc.) While many of Toy-Biz's offerings are more than 10 years old, they still hold weight today, and in some cases, put Hasbro's BAFs to shame. (For as cool as Hulkbuster was, ToyBiz's Sentinel runs rings around it.) Rhino was as close to a Toybiz BAF in terms of sculpt and paints as they come...

The same goes with Hasbro's regular offerings as well. Unless there are newer costumes or versions of the character, they are not always necessary, as I feel many of those older figures still hold up. Unless the character is ToyBiz Scarlett Witch/Psylocke/Baron Zemo/Rogue bad, I just don't see the need for some of the re-dos that many people are asking for such as the Punisher, (Hasbro will never top series 4 Frank) Bullseye (a great figure that still holds it's weight, as it's mold became the basis for Legends for years...) or Juggernaut (which has a great Legends figure, and an even better Select figure...) I'd much rather see something new, even if the character is an obscure one, like what we got with many of the HB wave...

That said, a new Apocalypse would be nice, but unless it's a movie version or his Ultimate X-men look, I wouldn't be tripping over myself or other people to trying to get it...

As I said, I'd prefer a new mold AoU Hulk sized Apocalypse individual figure.

Ahar, you are right! I saw the thigh guards and instantly connected them to Stryfe, given Hasbro's track record of reusing parts, but Taskmaster looks 100% new sculpt. That's a huge deal, and although this rendition is one that a bare minimum are familiar with (Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon Taskmaster over Udon Taskmaster? Pfft!), he's still managed to win me over with that sculpt.

As long as Hasbro keeps going up and doesn't plummet, I'd like to think we're in good hands. Interest in the brand is strong, most of the series sell well, and (at least in America) they seem to be getting better at distribution.

Now, about that Jamie Madrox box set...

I'm with you there. There are some stark examples of Toybiz figures that needed redoing: Jim Lee Rogue, for one, and of course Scarlet Witch (although I'd argue that the new Hasbro one is more of an updated classic look, rather than a straight redo of her younger, original appearance). Apart from those few, let's start asking for Polaris, for Sif and Heimdall, for Monica Rambeau and Swordsman and all of the other fantastic characters that have yet to make to "6.

An entire 5 piece set of all Jamie figs? I'm ok with that...

Edit: and since the spigot has opened up for X-figs...and I can't believe I forgot to add these suggestions given the subject of my most recent pics...Can we get a Belasco fig?...and while I'm at it, I may as well add S'ym, N'astirh, and Madelyne. Hey, it's Halloween y'all...or close enough.

You are right. I really need to "start" asking for Polaris. Actually once/if she and Enchantress get made I don't know if I'll have anything left to say....

what am I saying, there will ALWAYS be someone I want to see made. Just not with as much sound and fury.

@TBM, I would love a Madelyne/Goblin QUeen, but she along with Selene and Morgan Le Fey I think would be too sexualized for Hasbro to make. The only way I see those three ever being done is a con exclusive. Otherwise, I think that's too much skin for Hasbro to risk. That said I would love every single of those to be made.

@Nash

You are likely right. Maybe a con could deliver a pack of female figs that are too risque for retail? We did get Satana from SDCC...and an EE exclusive delivered Gamora. It could happen..

Edit: I'm digging the new avatar Nash! Ya' gotta advertise your fig wants!!!

It seems like the only place they're dropping these characters in. Even with Shanna. I could see Mantis, Moondragon or even Angela had she not won the poll. I'm also curious how different she'll vary from the art by Sara Pichelli shown

Interesting idea there. I'm trying to think of other characters they would include in a set like that. Titania? A 90's version of Psylocke? Typhoid Mary?
Or maybe they'll do a throw back to Marvel's 90's bikini specials and give us a set of figures in bikinis. And for once, I wouldn't have to buy something. Haha!

Possibly. I think it's spot on like others have said that characters like Satana and Gamora have been online or con exclusives, the X-Force Psylocke too. It's kind of line they don't have a problem doing low cut neck like but they don't want to show too much skin in the pelvic region, or something beyond what low cut shirts would show in real life. So no underboob like Goblin Queen. I think Typhoid Mary is a little more covered up though? So she might fall into their acceptable range.

As ChuckSass said, I'm also really interested to see how they design the Angela figure, since she's showing practically more skin than any of the others, and now since she won the poll she will be more than an exclusive, we assume. Of course I'm just speculating but it's a reason I haven't been as vocal about Selene even though she's near the top of my list; I simply don't see her getting made.

I'd forgotten about Shanna (her body did show up on Savage She-Hulk at retail, but it was covered up), and I neglected to mention Magik (the midriff scenario Nash mentioned) who was also a con insertion. Of the other characters that you've pointed out, if what we are speculating about is actually true (and I think it may be given the frock they put on Gamora in the box set), Mantis in her Guardians outfit - yay! works for me! - could be the most retail friendly of the lot (not in her original gear mind you).

Your Angela observation has me even more eager to see the final product. I hope she resembles her GotG appearance.

Here's another thought on this subject: Could this be the reason that the Rogue from the Puck wave was cancelled? She really was about to pop out of that shirt from the rough demos we saw of her.

I do have to wonder then how Emma got made at all. She's the only one I can think of off the top of my head that's somewhat risque, though there are probably others that are just not coming to mind.

Good point about Emma; she has midriff and ample amounts of cleavage, but retailed...albeit at 'comic' stores not national 'commercial' outlets. I'm not sure why that Rogue was cancelled (I know I still want it), but Warmachine's suggestion sounds as likely as any I can fathom (I HATE the hips on that particular female buck). I'm not sure about the risque angle for the cancelled Rogue, she seemed to have the same sculpt as the Black Widow (and variant) that sold in the comic accurate Winter Soldier 2pk...

Good point, to add to that Black Cat was also fairly amply sculpted (trying not to be offensive) in that area as well. So maybe that wasn't the reason. I might be seeing things that aren't there, so to speak.

I'm actually glad we are talking about this and why it might limit some characters. It's not meant to be sexist or misogynistic in anyway, just that it's a fair point that there may be some characters/sculpts/outfits that Hasbro wouldn't be willing to mass produce.

also looking at older images and thinking about it that skirt rogue has on that sculpt would be harder to put into flight poses, unless the plastic was fairly soft. A flight pose would be limited so they possibly thought to release Emma.
you can see below in this image if rogue uses the same joints not much flight poses.
That being said the skirt might be loose , like emmas belt so that could of solved that problem maybe

I wonder if skin plays a factor. I mean, we don't even too many shirtless males that I can think of. But it is a good question. Oh and Nash, I was thinking this outfit for Typhoid Mary, which would be a little risque since under the jacket there's really nothing but skin.

Oh yeah that would probably be a little risque. I'm not as familiar with her character, I know she loves/hates/tries to kill Daredevil, but I haven't read much of DD at all. I was thinking of her look in the X-Men Sisterhood arc.

@Nash

I don't think this conversation has been inappropriate or lascivious in any way ("risque" and "ample" represent pretty innocuous/polite language). That said, I'm a man and my sensibilities may be somewhat skewed. If any female collectors have been offended throughout the course of this convo, I apologize for any unintended slight...that wasn't the motive for the dialogue.

@Warmachine

It's my opinion that those hips stink with or without a skirt. I absolutely HATE/LOATHE/DESPISE those hips and hope to never see them again on female figs or otherwise (I say 'otherwise' because I believe the Frost Giant fig also features them). When you brought the issue up, it resonated with my utter contempt for those hips and struck me as a very valid reason for the Rogue re-draft. I still want that Rogue tho' lol Just like I still want the cancelled Brother Voodoo! I tend to want most the things I can't have...

Agree TBM on the first part. We haven't started behaving like barbarians yet and I hope we don't begin to - though my apologies as well if any female collectors (or male even) are offended.

To the other part, the Rogue redraft, I think I wanted it so much because it was another costume for Rogue, but also because the existing Rogue is one of the very few figures where I say another version was absolutely needed. I won't lie, I'm glad I've got the Toybiz Rogue but it's fugly and will become obsolete once the new Rogue releases. And that may also take care of my desire to have a different Rogue figure.

Edited for clarification.

Kudos for bringing up the fact that male collectors also might be offended...

Wow! You have that Rogue? You must have paid a pretty penny for it...it begs the asking...and I hope you don't mind the question, but did you win it in an auction or gain it through personal connections? Was it carded, and did you open it? AHaha! I guess that's a few questions...I'll understand if you aren't comfortable answering any of these inquiries...
