You're right. This entire wave minus Iceman and Phoenix are all characters Marvel has farmed out from the X-books to be in other books (it's a bit of a stretch with Wolverine since he was all over the place.) Gawd. I don't read the books but I still read about them on forums, so I expect the news that Jeen and Iceman are being moved out of the X-world to break now.

Thank you, man! I really enjoyed the way that set-up panned out and it is always nice to hear that other collectors appreciated it as well! The sorcerer supreme makes many perilous journeys and this felt feasible as one of his storied encounters with the dark unknown.

As much as it pains me to admit, I am growing a little bored of the Tamashii flames. That said, your idea of an 'effect' pack is a top flight idea. I was part of a discussion on another board in which we played around with the idea of a 'Deluxe Legends' brand. This concept would be similar to what has been theorized with certain DC Icons figs (i.e. Hal with his ring armor and Flash with his time-treadmill). However, I like your idea much better because it provides collectors with a choice. If you just want the fig at the standard rate, you can buy it without the baked in price increase for the extra effects.

Funny you should mention this idea while commenting on my pics featuring Gothitropolis' Hrabban. I purchased the bone head and wings (along with an extra head, helmet, and sword not shown in my photos) as an add-on pack for the line. The accessories add a great deal to an already stellar toy, but they are completely optional and one can mix and match however they choose. The same strategy could easily be used with ML ranging from effects to all sorts of other accessories.

That would be awesome! Those addon packs for the Gothitropolis figures were an awesome idea. It would be interesting to see the same concept applied to Legends. I still say Hasbro is leaving money on the table by not doing that type of thing, releasing "Army Builder Boxes" (tm Kirathis...but Hasbro can have the name for a free box LOL) or some of the older figures that sell for a fortune on the secondary market.

Decided to do a quick and dirty Scarlet Spider web swinging appreciation shot while taking haul pics tonight.

I must agree mate. I love the Tamashii effects, but you can only use the three flame effects so much before they start to feel a trife stale, and since they're chiefly an anime-based figure line the likelihood of anything superheroic cropping up is unlikely. Hasbro could make an absolute bucketload from this gap in the market!

While we're on this subject, let us throw in bases, too. I can understand that money doesn't allow Hasbro to give us immaculate bases akin to the Toybiz ones of old (considering we don't even get that amount of detail on the figures themselves!), so why not create optional bases to buy in packs? Surely they've realised their key demographic are of the adult, money-possessing collector variety, so why not cater to us in that regard?

Man, her current X-Force design would be a killer figure. Si Spurrier wrote a fantastic Sarah without encumbering her with two decades' worth of history. I say yes to both classic and Marvel Now versions!

We went on our usual shopping trip last night, and saw that Target's having a BOGO 50% sale on a bunch of toy properties, and Avengers is one of those. Well, since all Marvel Legends figures are in the system under the same code, that means it applies to Avengers, Spider-Man, and Ant-Man waves (and anything else under the ML banner). So we picked up both Kraven and Ghost Rider last night.

And with a bit of chain culled off of an old McFarlane Toy's Vash the Stampede figure...

Perfect.

Agreed. I've seen so many writers mishandle her, I'm glad that Spurrier got her right. Hell, iirc he said that one of his reasons for including her was just so he had an excuse to write her, which I can wholeheartedly support.

Heck, let's just get a Spurrier's X-Force set! Cable, Psylocke, Marrow, Pepe le Pew, Dr. Nemesis, Domino, and ForgetMeNot. Maybe add the MeMe drone as an accessory on a clear stand that can plug into Cable's shoulder.

It's the Obitsu body clear stand. I bought a bunch of them from Hobby Link Japan sometime last year. They are handy little stands and have a variety of options. They weigh next to nothing though so you have to counter-balance or weigh the stand down.

They are 238 yen which comes out to about $1.96 US. The trick then is buying enough to make the shipping worth it. I bought 10 which brought them to about $3 US each. I think Amiami has them as well although they are a bit more there as I recall.

I have attached a pick of the bagged stand for reference. It comes in pieces like a model kit.

Sweet pics! I really need to get some kind of background and post pics. Otherwise they would all be of characters standing on a shelf.

Thankfully, I have access to some really nice outdoor scenery for my photos. Which I'll be posting more of soon - need to take a break from my standard Transformers photography subjects XD

Very random thought that just occurred to me, but I'm wondering why Hasbro hasn't used the material from the recent Legends Storm figure's cape on more of their figures. That material seems perfect for cape applications at the 1/12 scale, and I could see it working well for both the Legends and Star Wars Black lines.

There are many third party alternatives for accessories/effects/set pieces and they all seem to enjoy some sort of profit margin, enough to keep making their wares. However, we might be overestimating exactly how much money/interest there is for this sort of thing. Not everyone is interested in dynamic posing. Not everyone is interested in snapping pics of figs. Many people don't even take their figs out of the package. I imagine that if some small business took off in a substantial way, there would be more incentive for Hasbro to explore the accessories market. GTP recently started selling 'Death Star' set items for 6" scale. Star Wars themed wall panels, barrels, crates, and boxes. They look pretty slick. I'm sure Hasbro is watching to see how well GTP does with this project to determine if the effort is worthwhile.

...and...Tiger Shark! ...just because he's an awesome villain...

We need a villain wave.

TheBlueMarvel, single-handedly increasing Hasbro profits with a couple pics.

Yeah, TBM's pics will definitely sell you on figures. Dude's got skills, as they say. I'm not sure who they are...but they say that. Apparently I am in a lame joke mood tonight. I make no apologies!

Ah that is true TBM, while something such as Star Wars is a property well worth taking a look at from Hasbro's perspective, and is popular enough to warrant official-level work from GTP, Marvel is still struggling. At least we're now beginning to receive consistent Legends waves with larger BAFs, but man was that an uphill struggle! For the time being it looks like effects will be the culmination of a hot glue gun and some wire for me!

Firstly, great Ghost Rider shots! I still haven't bought the Rhino wave, but he will be a guaranteed favourite when I do. Second, that X-Force set would be a cult dream! Better throw in a Pete Wisdom and a powered Hope Summers from the finale for good measure.

Damn, Now I want a Pryde and Wisdom 2 pack of Legends. Wisdom would be and easy custom with Coulson Body and a good head choice. You could almost use the Hawkeye/Matt Murdock head if you could get some more hair flop on there. Just need to make some psy finger blades and we are good.
