Yeah, he's not stupid. First Class brought a good deal of excitement back to the movie franchise IMO. We'll see if he can tease out the same quality performances from his 'borrowed' talent, the old heads, and the newcomers. DOFP was decent to good, mostly due to excellent action sequences and clever on-screen depiction of abilities...again, IMO.

As for XM:A, I think it looks amazing thus far. A lot of my friends have been bashing it, basically saying that they should have went with an all CG Apocalypse, and while that would have worked well in the MCU, I don't think it would have come off as well in Fox's XMCU, which has a different look and organic and more human feel to it. I keep mentioning to them that there is still work that will be done to Apocalypse post production (as evidenced by the trailer, which never gives you a clear shot of his face, as well as the movie poster, which makes him look much more ominous and sinister) and that they should hold of reservations on it until then. As an Apocalypse fan from his first appearance in X-Factor, I'm eager to finally see this guy on the big screen. ![]() On a side note...if you would have told me that the best two trailers for upcoming comic films was going to be TMNT2 and XM:A, and that Civil War and BvS would be underwhelming or flat out disappointing, I would have laughed at you. Yet, here I am eating crow... Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 12-11-2015 at 09:26 PM.. |

He really didn't have a choice. Brett Ratner did so much damage with X-3, and then there was Wolverine Origins, which made even more of a mess of things. First Class was done very well, and brought revived people's interest in the franchise at a time they thought it was doomed. It just made sense for Singer to clean up the confusing movie universe with the revitalized fan base.

Sorry, but I can't stand that actress. She is one of the worst people on Game of Thrones. Her acting is so stiff and she barely ever shows any emotion in anything she has to say. Half of the time she is quite dead pan.

I kind of feel sorry for Ratner since he got handed a pile when Singer jumped ship to go to the Superman movie. Then once he ruined that, Marvel decided to bring him back to the X franchise. The funny thing is in hindsight, you can really see just how bad his X movies really were. I am curious to see how convoluted Apocalypse is with Singer once again involved in the script and Vaughn not there to fix it.
Haha I did not expect the TMNT2 trailer to be so good but it amused me a lot. In hindsight, I still see Singer's films as pretty good. The first X-men film was what it was....not a great film, but it was a pleasant surprise that said..."Hey...it IS possible to make a superhero film that could survive on the big screen for a change, and is not straight to video material." Flashing forward...it's pretty cringe-worthy, but who knew that 20 years later, we wouldn't be able to imagine anyone OTHER than Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? X-2 is one of my favorite superhero movies to this very day. I remember sitting in the movie theater thinking, "holy crap...this movie is bad ass." and it still resonates some of that feeling with me whenever I watch it. DoFP is probably my favorite film of Singer's, just barely edging out X-2 and First Class (which are interchangeable in my eyes.) simply because it gave us something I'd never thought we'd see, Sentinels, and it made them work. They were terrifying to watch in both the future and the past, and for the first time I think, I was actually able to empathize and vicariously understand just why mutants feared them so much, which was something that's much more difficult to convey in the comics when Rogue and Wolverine are routinely tearing them limb from limb without sustaining so much as a scratch in between the panels. Add in Singers pretty ingenious retcon to correct both his and Ratner's previous sins, and it gives me faith that despite the naysayers, Apocalypse will be just fine. The CGI on Bebop and Rocksteady is a bit rough, but then again it was on the turtles last year when that movie's first trailer debuted. There's plenty of time for them to clean it up. Hearing Bebop talk trash back at the turtles though, oh man did that give me a nerd-gasm that I had been waiting for since Secret of the Ooze disappointed me as a child so many years ago. |

My updated shelf.. Had to remove people I didn't think fit in... but now, I'm so tempted to order the Amazon 4 pack now that it's $47... I have a feeling I'll have it ordered in a few hours.. damn it..
![]() Just picked up the Thanos Wave Captain America and his Left hand, the one that came with the Shield on it, the pointing finger came bent. I thought it was a hook to hold the shield on when I first saw it until I looked closer. After some hot water it's now back to the way it should be. Now the question.. Is there no way to hook his shield onto his back? I could have sworn I've seen people who had it on there but it doesn't look like it does. Also, does the shield just kinda sit there with his hands through the loops and nothing actually holding it on? I ask because it tends to just fall off in certain poses. The first time one was really depicted as a force to be reckoned with, I think, was in the cartoon X-Men: Evolution. When a Sentinel finally appeared, it was this behemoth that was nigh indestructible, took out most of the X-Men AND Brotherhood, and also resulted in the mutants' exposure to the world at large.. and that was only one Sentinel! The feeling that episode ebbed was certainly reignited in DoFP, where the mutants were, fundamentally, screwed to hell and back. Granted, the mutants were severely under-powered (although Storm activating the nuke inside the X-Jet was genius), but those organic, mutating machines accompanied by the Inception-esque soundtrack was quite jaw-dropping. I have faith in Singer, and honestly am in the vast minority when I say that First Class is my least favourite out of the bunch. Mystique as Xavier's adopted sister, Moira as an American CIA agent, Sebastian Shaw's power set, Xavier as a weird playboy, and Emma Frost's atrocious character in general were just unforgivable. All terrible, terrible choices which were FAR worse than even Ryan Renolds' Baraka-pool in Origins: Wolverine. The stupendous scenes with Michael Fassbender couldn't save the film for me, unfortunately. |

I'm going to give the movie a chance as it has earned it after First Class and DoFP, but I do no like what I have seen so far. Apocalypse especially looks pretty awful.

Do it. It's totally worth it alone for that bad ass Thor and Bruce Banner. The hawkeye and widow are also super well done.

TMNT2 didn't even look remotely good. It was all CGI with CGI and two of the worst TMNT characters ever created. Not to mention Tyler Perry is playing Baxter Stockman, which is just insulting.
The Apocalypse trailer had cool things in it, but again, I hear Sansa Stark, not Jean Grey. Don't get me started on how bad BvsS is going to be though, but then, I'm not surprised in the slightest.

I'm also curious as to why Tyler Perry is an insult at Baxter? Baxter has always been an over the top, mad scientist character, and many of Tyler's comedy flicks are zany in that same way. While I personally would have loved to see Eddie Murphy take a stab at it (since he mostly does family films now a days), I still don't think it's an awful one (like Stephen Amell is for Casey.) Who would you have picked? Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 12-12-2015 at 09:54 PM.. |

Now, I know I am getting off topic as this is a Marvel thread, and I realize that many people aren't fans of the TMNT...but if you're calling two staple characters from the animated series and the post Mirage comic years in Bebop and Rocksteady THE WORST characters ever created in the franchise, I'd seriously would be curious as to who you think are the best?

As for my favorite villains from the series, Shredder and Kurai. I love the City at War comic arc that introduced Kurai and I hate how the Bay movie treated her. Quote:

Well I may be on the minority among all the X fans here but being a street level fan I'm so hoping they find a way to add Lady Bullseye to a wave like they're doing with Nuke.

I've never liked those two knuckleheads even as a kid. They were morons and almost as bad as Krang.

He is a terrible actor and is super annoying. However, that is not the main reason. K Todd Freeman played Baxter in the first movie, so there was no reason whatsoever to recast him when they already had someone playing him. |

I do like the X-men films but noticed out of my favorite X2. Simon Kinberg wasn't involved at all , since his involvement [x-3 to Apocalypse] minus first class, went down hill. He's not needed at all

You ever see how they have bebop and rocksteady in the current nick cartoon ??? Absolutely horrible.... the 90s cartoon versions and even toys are a hell of alot better then how all the current characters are.
At least IDW has all the characters looking the way they should in their comics. To be fair...a lot of the characters on the Nick Cartoon have some pretty bad incarnations. I like the redesigns of many of the older characters personally, just not the way the characters are translated to the show. Bebop, Casey Jones, Rocksteady, Metalhead, The Ninja Frogs (especially Napoleon,) they all kinda stink compared to previous versions. Bout the only characters I think they've done better are Leatherhead, Baxter and Rat King. But as the show has stated, it's an alternate reality (since the Turtles did see their 80's cartoon selves on a trip to Dimension X) and of course, we're seeing it through rose colored glasses, because most of the people I know with young children dig it. |
