Yes, I read that Dorkside cancelled 100 orders. Although, I'm a little skeptical because I don't understand why Dorkside would publicize this info and the number is too specific if we're assuming it represents customer testimony (what, did everyone report the woeful news at the same time, in the same place?). My BBTS order remains unfulfilled...I guess we'll see.

It's all about what you've read. I may be wrong, but I think a while back you had indicated you hadn't read much of non-recent x-books, and Jean has been gone from the books for aboug 15 years now, so it's understandable you wouldn't know this. Marvel has such a vast library that it's practically impossible to be well-versed in every corner of it. There's probably a ton of stuff I dont' know about F4, Spider-Man or Daredevil just from the lack of reading I've done in those corners of the MU.
I've only got one issue left in the DP book and so far they have been X-cellent. ![]() I don't know why, but ever since my dad told me two weeks ago that my brother stole all of my X-Men comics (among everything else I had up in their attic) and sold them to a pawn shop, I've been wanting to get back into the franchise. However, I don't want to read the current stuff because I don't really care for what is going on in Marvel's comics right now. I want to read the older stuff, hence why I'm starting with those two books and I do play to pick up Genesis 2.0 and X-Cutioner's Song when it comes up in Dec. Quote:
Well wait, they still have the wave up for preorder, so it wouldn't make sense to cancel the preorders if they are still taking them.

I haven't heard anything from my preorder either way and I was in the second round of preorders from BBTS so I would imagine if they were canceling orders mine would be one of them

That further leads me to think that maybe Hasbro was instructed by Marvel to do so, so that Marvel can report "the X-Men waves sold in low numbers" or some PR BS, to justify no further waves being released. I truly strongly hope that's not the case, because I honestly think excitement for this wave was more than I've seen in all my years of collecting, and to be screwed by low sales numbers just because of low production numbers would be beyond frustrating. That's all just paranoia though, and speculation. Who knows, maybe BBTS, Dorkside and other various places are reordering extra product as we speak, and Hasbro is now seeing the anticipation of this wave and ordered 2-3 times more than initial orders. Time will only tell and I really hope that this second scenario is the case. edit: Crossing my fingers for VM, Dr. Kain, EVERYONE. @Dr. Kain, it's to each their own but I firmly believe the Claremont years on the X-Men 1975-1991, were where the line shone brightest. Basically everything from UXM 94-280. Granted there are weak individual issues but most of it is just miles better than what came after, to say nothing of what happened to the line after Second Coming (which is really to me, the last decent X-Men story outside of Uncanny X-Force). Pretty much all your "must reads" are in the 70s/80s with the exception of maybe Age Of Apocalypse. I hope you enjoy your reads! Last edited by Captain Nash; 07-08-2016 at 01:04 PM.. |

The preorders are still open on bbts.
I honestly doubt if they knew they where not getting current on order numbers they would keep new orders active. If it does happen it won't be a just a few people getting canclations, it will be everyone who has ordered after a certain period in one large batch notification Last edited by name; 07-08-2016 at 12:58 PM.. |

I am also very interested in space Venom. In other news, I received my Namor from Walgreens and my entire Civil War set from a 3rd party Amazon seller today. Namor is awesome. The surprise for me from the wave group is Iron Man. I actually really like the figure and the added hands and repulser effects are a nice addition. Looking forward to building Giant Man for sure!
Addendum after opening and posing the figures. Giant Man is more like Slightly Taller Man but still a nice figure. The armor on Iron Man's open hands seems to prevent a decent repulser shot pose. Thus the effects are now boot thrusters for mine. Cap is a big pile of meh. Nuke is much more impressive than expected. I find myself wishing he was not so huge as he would make a decent base for Punisher. Red Guardian is basically Cap level meh. Nick Fury is both nice and disappointing at the same time. The disappointment mostly comes from mine having jellyfish legs. Might be time to try the super glue tightening method. The sculpted gun is annoying and I would have preferred modern sleek to 90s mega pouch but that's minor. I did find myself disappointed in the lack of a larger gun for use with the agent head but I have a few I can swap in for him. Black Panther is sheer badass and easily my favorite of the group. I am usually not that big on the movie figures but his armor design is outstanding and the figure captures it well. Overall just a spectacular figure. I preface this by saying I have never been a Namor fan but I thought the figure looked cool. I was definitely right. The sculpt and paint are outstanding. The contrast between flat black and the gloss greens and yellows looks great. As many have pointed out, the trident is by far the low point of the figure as it barely fits his hand and just looks awkward. Last edited by Kirathis; 07-08-2016 at 02:09 PM.. I emailed Dorkside the other day and they said that Hasbro was sending the wave out a little bit at a time. It's why the wave is still listed as preorder everwhere even tough some people have had theirs ship.

Does anybody need the "Dirk Anger" head from fury?
On a side note.. I'm pumped about the Space Venom as well. Can't wait to add him to my Cosmic shelf! |

I had initially ordered 2 cases of the X-men 1 from BBTS and one from Dorkside. I gambled and cancelled the BBTS. Now I'm gonna be out of pocket for a while and didn't want the post office holding my order(USPS will lose it for sure) IF Dorkside sent it while I was out. Now I got nothing on order for X-men. I hope I can get a case next month or something. *SOBBING* This may have been the biggest mistake I've made yet.

I have never heard of Space Venom before the Figure. And I read marvel comics somewhat often. What storylines is he from? He looks awesome so I'm definitely buying him and Electro.

X-Men are definitely nowhere near done. Aside from Polaris and Dazzler (which are probably two of the more prominent missing), we have Madrox, Monet, Wolfsbane, Exodus, Selene, Moonstar, Sunspot, Blink, Syrin, Emplate, Marrow, Hellion, Elixir, Cecelia Reyes, Callisto, Sebastian Shaw, Vulcan, Fitzroy, Rictor, Shatterstar Husk, Chamber, Dust, Karma, Surge, Rockslide, Mercury, Anole, Pixie, Magma, Warlock, Shadow King, Cypher, Pete Wisdom, Deathbird (more X-Men than anything else), Nimrod, Sauron, Bastion and those are just the ones I would buy. There's plenty others out there I would likely pass on that others want. And while I do realize that many of these will never get made, there are good number of the above I can see could be made (Madrox, Exodus, Moonstar, Sebastian Shaw, Sunspot, Sauron, Shatterstar, Nimrod and Blink being the most likely candidates).
That's not even including redos from both TB and Hasbro eras, that's just straight up never done before figures. So yeah, X-men are nowhere near done, there is a vast vein of figures to mine there. I also think of some of those characters you mentioned as New Mutants, Gen X, X-force, villains etc, and I would display separate from the 70's and 80's core X-men. But yaay, any more villains (Callisto, Selene, Caliban, Nimrod etc etc) I would welcome with open arms. Except Pixie. Can't stand her. My dream would be an Art Adams New mutants from the Asgard specials. Still some of my favourite comics. |

^ Uuuh, Nash, no Layla Miller? For shame! I mean, she will never see the light of day as a figure (or again in comic books for that matter), but damn is she a great character.
Speaking of Ms. Pryor, I'm re-reading the lead up to Inferno, and I forgot how sympathetic Madelyne is. She may be one of the most understated villains in Marvel. It's a shame that, when she's came back into the fold, she was written as a bog-standard "evil ex-wife" character. Hi mate, can I ask where you acquired Wanda and the Space Venom figures? Fellow UK-er here, and the only website (that I know of) selling individual figures in Forbidden Planet, and they aren't being released until September. Any info would be appreciated! If this year has proven anything, it's that Hasbro A) Shouldn't produce as many figures as they can, as the quality of the products dip, which also seems to impeach the SDCC set, and B) Must avoid releasing multiple waves under one umbrella name. It's nice that Cap is getting three waves, but when stores overstock on the first one in anticipation of the movie and thus can't bring in the two new sets, there's a problem. Spider-Man is okay, since his name tends to move most of his product, but the other three needed seperate names/codes. Avengers, Civil War, and Captain America waves would have worked fine. In London the best shop to get waves quick is Orbital Comics, in Leicester Square. Don't know if they do ship, thou. But they had the Spider-man wave. I got Ashley, Electro and Ultimate Peter, but Silk and Hobgoblin were quickly gone. I follow the shop on Twitter , as they post what they are getting the day before. Forbidden Planet take much longer to get their new waves. Online I use A Place In Space, they are quite good. I have the chest, right leg, and unfortunately, a right arm with a left hand (rubbish I know). I'm not interested in making the Space Venom, so if you want the pieces, I'll send them to you (within the UK of course), free of charge. I have many pieces of BAF I need to get rid of, as they take space, and I don't care for them. The only BAF I'm not finished that I want is Ronan. I'll try to find them all and post a list for any arkers that want them. |

I love The first issues of The Defenders, and Nighthawk, as Gargoyle, Red Guardian Tanya, Son Of Satan and Devil -Slayer are my most wants. Oh and Clea of course. But unless Marvel brings those characters to the forefront, I doubt I'll see them. nNighthawk is the only one I feel will get done eventually.

Okay, spent some time with the x-men wave and here are some initial thoughts:
I know it's being said a ton to the point where I was even starting to roll my eyes but this really is the best wave Hasbro has ever done, and may even be the best marvel legend wave (up against TB wave 6). All of these figures would likely be the best of their respective waves if released outside this wave. Even the characters who aren't necessarily "show stealers" feel like a tremendous amount of care was given to them. Nobody feels tacked on, or corners cut. It doesn't feel like a cash in or afterthought either like the TRU wave did. The lineup to the execution feel very lovingly done. Kitty Pryde-Perfect example of my "tremendous amount of care" point. Very ho-hum costume, but so well executed it never feels like it. Lockheed does take a little bit of maneuvering to get right on her. Phoenix-Another very basic figure, but never feels short changed. Fantastic sculpt. Snuck her into my cosmic display instead of x-men cause I already have a Jean and will take whatever excuse I can to add to my cosmic display. Havok-Makes the bucky mold pop even after it's umpteenth use. Also thrown into my cosmic display because war of kings and aforementioned any excuse. Iceman-Had very little interest in this figure when it was announced but I'm really impressed with it, maybe the Dark Horse of the wave for me. Looks great however it is posed. Rogue-Fantastic. For me this is what I see as rogue when I close my eyes. As far as this version of rogue is concerned, we'll likely never need another one. I've kept wolvie, deadpool and cable on ice right now, because I'm still happy with the toybiz ones and haven't decided if I'll keep em or trade em or sell em. But even in packaging, they are impressive. Also, though not assembled, the Juggernaut BAF pieces are BIG.

Flash Thompson/Agent Venom, after some time with the Guardians of the Galaxy, ended up going through a storyarc where the symbiote was 'cleansed' of the 'evil' that had tainted it since it first came onto the scene in the comics. So now Venom is (arguably) more powerful in some ways, and Thompson has gone full hero route as a Spaceknight (a la Rom). Hence, Spaceknight Venom with the GotG sigil on his shoulder.

So after the Venom symbiote left MacGargan for Flash Thompson and they became Agent Venom the Guardians of the Galaxy got a movie. Following the movie's highly successful release a bunch of fans who'd never heard of the team before wanted to read GotG comics so Marvel shook the team up and threw in central characters like Iron Man and Captain Marvel as like guest members of the team to attract more readers, eventually Agent Venom became a sorta-permanent member. The symbiote started freaking out after being in space for awhile and led the team to the "symbiote home world" where it was revealed that all symbiotes were actually intended to be peace keepers and agents of good. The "true symbiotes" restored/neutered Venom and so he became space knight Venom (ROM!). It kinda goes without saying that every longtime Venom fan was pretty pissed with this whole deal since it turned our gnarly toothed monster into something like modern DC's Blue Beetle. No surprise this entire mess was written by Bendis.
