i recently just finished watching ALL of the seasons of the batman TAS. not only the was it very well drawn, but also very dark natured for a childrens cartoon, which i used to love as a kid and still did when i recently watched all of them.

It was pretty good up until they handled the Dark Phoenix saga, which afterwards, the show badly spiraled downhill in both storytelling and production. It's held up somewhat, but one really has to put down the rose tinted glasses when judging it against it's peers.
BTW, aren't there like one or two episodes that aired in the fifth season that belonged before the Phoenix Saga or something? I remember there being some stuff in the last few episodes that took place before Jean came back or something.

BTAS, Batman Beyond, Gargoyles, Spawn, Transformers Prime, all of the Star Wars cartoons, Spectacular Spiderman...all of these were better than Xmen:TAS. I think Xmen just stands out in the sense that it really set the stage for what animated shows COULD be, as entertainment for both children and adults, giving us the thrills and fun of Saturday Mornings, with the storytelling one reserved for prime time shows (remember, the pilot for Xmen debuted on prime time.)
@ Dr Kain: almost all of the episodes with Apocalypse were excellent, and are what solidified my love for that character. I just remember being entranced by the way he spoke and thinking, "holy ****, this guy is bad ass..." My favorites were the episodes loosely based on Legacy Virus storyline, where Cable travelled back in time to stop a virus that was targeting mutants. "For I bring the purity of oblivion, to your world..." |

I found the Mister Sinister voice in XM: TAS to be even more cool than Apocalypse's. Like Apocalypse brings doom and gloom (and rightly so) Sinister's brings more mysterious slithery vibes.

No, you were right, those are the DVDs to the entire 90s cartoon.
My numbering will probably change after this viewing, but it never made my top 10 list. I don't think it is better than BTAS, Gargoyles, Simpsons, Animaniacs, or Samurai Jack though. I thought the show was fine, but it should have ended with the 4 parter when Apocalypse captured all of the psychics. That was the best finale the show could have had. Although, I do like Graduation Day, I just wish it was actually advertised to be the series finale when it first aired since I had no idea that it was for like a year. BTW, aren't there like one or two episodes that aired in the fifth season that belonged before the Phoenix Saga or something? I remember there being some stuff in the last few episodes that took place before Jean came back or something. Ahhh well in that case, i've already watched all of them. took a while too especially for 5 seasons. they were 100% on point with the comics IMO. that i loved about it. Also all the voices for the characters i felt were IDEAL for them. whenever i read something with wolverine, which is nowdays Old man logan. i can hear the animated series voice in my head lol Quote:
You guys are making me feel like i want to turn one of the season on now and watch them again lol |

I really didn't like the first Guardians of the Galaxy. It and Captain America first Avenger are my least favorite MCU films

On the massive subject of X-Men, do you think Hasbro will ever give us the late 70s/early 80s versions of Colossus, Cyclops, Storm, Nightscrawler, and Prof X to go with Wolverine and Phoenix? What about Apocalypse?

"For I bring the purity of oblivion, to your world..." Totally agree on Apocalypse. This cartoon and X-Cutioner's Song is what made Apocalypse become my favorite X-Men villain. Quote:
BTW, there are some hilarious animation errors in this show. There was one episode where Jean and Scott go to talk to Wolverine and he is gone, his room is this big ass room with weights in it and he sliced a picture of Scott and Jean together in half. In the next episode, Wolverine's room is tiny, only has a bed and a desk in it, and the picture is slightly ripped. Oh, and then in the Omega Red episode, Jubilee writes a note she leaves on the fridge and puts a large green magnet over it in the middle of the letter. Later, Wolverine walks in to find it and there is a small red magnet holding it up at the top left hand corner. ![]() Quote:
I really hope the movie doesn't falter like all of the other sequels that aren't named Captain America have done.

I'm really hoping for updated head-sculpts for MCU Peter Quill and Gamora. The last ones were not impressive to say the least.
Hopefully both, but I think Mantis has a slight less-likely chance. Remember we didn't get Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, or Vision with Age of Ultron. ![]() I think Nebula has a better chance, with this film. If the concept art is anything to go by, she'll definitely have a much larger/active role. Possibly even an unlikely alliance with the Guardians?? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It was the '90s Spider-Man and Silver Surfer cartoons that threw in crummy CG effects, especially the Silver Surfer. The '90s X-Men is great, it actually adapts stories from the comics faithfully and properly represents most if not all characters within. It's the second best superhero cartoon to me and when Batman the animated series is number one that's still quite an achievement.
I recently started re-watching X-Men on Hulu. Love Apocalypse on it, that voice.... pure awesome.

Dreadful? There's a reason it won a couple of daytime Emmys. Now RiD, and G.I.Joe Renegades...those were dreadful. |

As a kid/preteen, I really enjoyed x-men evolution. I still enjoy the 90's cartoon, but I feel like it derives a lot of what makes it compelling from people enjoying the comics and wanting to see those stories in motion, and less from telling a story well. Batman TaS did a great job of every episode being enjoyable and compelling regardless of your familiarity with the character/series.

I loved how in that one episode Apocalypse just straight up like disintegrates and kills all of the X-Men for Cable to see or whatever. Apocalypse was a Thanos level danger back in the day but now for whatever reason he so frequently gets overlooked and underused.

Nope. I said Prime, and meant Prime. The final season with Predaking kinda plodded along a bit, but it came to a fantastic finish that left me feeling more than satisfied and saddened the producers were moving on.
