They have. I don't know if Uncanny X-Men is your thing or not but it is really good. It's the only title I read. I read an issue of some others through Marvel Unlimited but decided none of them fit with my taste, especially after all the nonsense Marvel has done in the five years preceding Secret Wars.

PS: Magneto is still the twin's father in my mind. Nothing will change that.

On the Dr. Strange wave figures I have preordered through Amazon which when it ships (next month presumably) will ship at lowest price after preorder, which is $15.99. But I may have to go by TRU anyways and see if they are there. But even so, that $16.00 price is hard to pass up on, even if it's just $4 difference. I could have them NOW.

Yep I have 1 though 7 or 8 or somewhere around there. The story with Angel . X-Men are my favorite group. Just bad stories and writing.

I will say that even though Marvel books across the board aren't all good the current Vision series is phenomenal and stands on its own so you don't need to catch up with other titles to keep up. When I read the initial premise from the first solicits I thought it was gonna be dumb as hell. I thought the idea of Vision building himself a family sounded cartoony and silly but it's been one of the most mature (in themes, not like they swear all day and gore every panel to red smears) and serious books I've read.

Is Land still drawing? If not, I may check it out. Still refuse to pay for anything he does

My wife did the smart thing and preordered Nico and Enchantress at that price, so it'll just be a matter of grabbing the rest of the wave at leisure (which I doubt will be hard - most of it is probably gonna linger a bit, even with them all being pretty nice figures).

He is. But I have to say this is the least...um...trace like...that Land has ever been. I am not turned off by his art as normal. It's really good. Bunn has already brought in several villains from the past...Exodus and Emplate (spoilers). He really knows his continuity.

Good thinking on your wife's part. Amazon has these to ship October 1st but I'm hoping they at least ship out within the month of October. House renovations are going slower than antipated but wrapping up and we're looking to be out of here sometime in November. Lucky for me pretty much everything toys, movies/shows shipping wise will have already come by that time except two things.

I... have such a stone stuck in my craw about Land, but I might give it a whirl if I can find it online. Nothing tickles my fancy like older, oft-forgotten X-Characters (now where's my Nasty Boys revival, Marvel?)

Believe me, I understand. I am mostly the same with him and my "favorite" popular marvel writer, not the he-who-shall-not-be-named writer, the popular one.

Good luck finding it. Do you have Marvel Unlimited? The first few issues should be up there by now since is runs on a six month cycle, and this thing has come out roughly every three weeks, with it being already at issue #13 and just September.

@DTL...because we can! And nerd.....I resemble that remark!

Usually when it gets into the comic discussion, I end up checking out for a few days. I don't know or understand half of what's being discussed being that I haven't picked up a comic book for longer than 5 issues since 2006 or to check in on what's the latest with a favorite character. The constant retcons coming out of Marvel though, as well as the PC agendas and the misuse or wasting of characters in meaningless or silly storylines keeps me from investing more time into it. It's been that disappointing as of late.

I think Marvel are doing some pretty good things right now really, not that I'm really a huge selection. I'd recommend Ms Marvel, ANAD Wolverine and Mighty Thor to anyone. Hellcat is great if you like cheerful comics. I'm enjoying ANAD Avengers and Black Widow.

Personally the more people whine about Marvel's PC agenda the more well disposed towards them I become. The more upset the fanboy collective becomes, the more likely they are actually doing interesting things instead of rehashing the same tired nonsense.

It's really what drives Marvel Legends Toys. It's half the reason I tried to get back into comics to know what figure I was buying in a wave. They've done about as much of the classic stuff as they can (in their eyes, not mine) so its on to Marvel Now stuff it looks like with the new figures coming out.

Here is the way I see it. Comics cost $4-5 a book these days. This stuff isn't for kids at that price, it's for 30-50 year old's who grew up on this stuff in the 70's-90's. If I pick up a book today to read something it's 10 words a page and I have no idea who is who anymore. That does not interest me. If i'm an old salty bastard then so be it, i'll save my money and read the old stuff. Nobody can say I didn't try the new stuff. I want Steve Rogers to be Capt America, not another person (Bucky/Falcon), not another hidden agenda (hydra) that they try to come up with.

Amen^ and tired and rehashed? Isn't girlverine's new storyline called "enemy of the state 2" ? That sure sounds familiar. Sory, but changing everyone's age, skin tone and what's between their legs is not fresh and cutting edg.

So I finished Inferno last night and overall, it was on convoluted cluster****. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did, but it was way overly complicated than it needed to be and like I said before, X-Men and demons don't mix very well, especially on a grand scale as this. This storyline should have been centered around the super natural characters like Ghost Rider and Doctor Strange while the X-Men and X-Factor only dealt with Madelynn and Mr Sinister. It also doesn't help matters that they never explain how S'ym came back (Magick killed her before she took on Belasco in her miniseries), what this techno organic virus is, and then N'astirh (can't even pronounce the damn thing) died like 8 different times throughout the series, all in diferent ways.

Breaking the stories down though:

New Mutants - I really enjoyed these three issues a lot. Although, having Magick restored to a child feels like a cop out and throws all every single bit of development she had over the several years leading up to this storyline out the window. In addition, what happened to the old ones that Belasco was using Magick to free? Why do we have N'astirh and S'ym over Dagon and Cthulhu?

X-Terminators - The issues seem to take forever to get through, but I enjoyed them. Taki really had some nice development going from a little selfish brat to legimiately wanting to save the world. I also loved the cast of misfits we had here with Skids, Boom Boom, Rusty, and Rictor. If I recall, some of these characters joint X-Factor when it is created. Although, I don't know if Taki ever shows up again in the series outside of one episode of the animated show. I did like how N'astirh combined technology and organic together. All it was missing was the Key to Vector Sigma. :-p

Now I also really digged the crossover these two series had, but as mentioned above, they both changed how N'astirh was killed, even though it was pointless because he still came back.

Power Pack - I don't care for this comic at all because they are so boring. The Boogeyman stuff dragged on and on, but the ending to it was kind of touching. I guess the way the parents responded to their kids being heroes makes sense, but it seems like they just totally gave up being parents without any effort.

X-Men/X-Factor - It was so strange how only the X-Men issues used the part numbers for the story line, especially when the X-Factor issues were part of the story and you couldn't just read one without the other, but whatever. The X-Men were very out of character and it was never explained why or how. I'm assuming their personalities were under the demon influence, but how? Oh, and Alex just ups and stops caring about Polaris for Madelynn? COME ON!!! Madelynn was a cool villain and I want a Marvel Legends figure of her now, but the highlight to me was Mr Sinister. Although, it was never explained why Scott was the only one whose powers effect him, I guess that will come up in a future story. N'astirh was all over the place here as he died several times again and kept coming back, which was quite vexing. I'm not even sure he actually died died now that I think of it. He just left.

The stuff taken from the X-Factor annual was kind of dumb though. I mean, it has two FBI agents going around trying to get to the truth and then Scott tells them it was a hallucination. Are you kidding me? That was so stupid!!

Oh, and the final issue in the book for X-Factor was good, but they never told me who the hell Nanny and Orphan Maker are. No, I don't mean who their real personas are, I mean WHO they are as villains. Where did they come from? Who are they working for? Why are they stealing children and hypnotizing them? They appeared early on in the series without any background at all. They are just there. Oh yeah, and Cameron Hodge seems to have just been forgotten.

Cloak & Dagger - Why did they choose to finish this series off in a random C&D issue that was already in the middle of a story, and one that ends on a cliff hanger at that? That was down right stupid. It didn't feel like it was a conclusion.

Excalibur - This was an interesting harmless tale. I liked how Captain Britain was turned into an 80s action hero and then Freddy Kreuger. In fact, the movie bit was cool. Phoenix being turned into a mannequin was weird, but my favorite bit was when the gargoyle and Nightcrawler became friends. Megan is my least favorite of the group, so I couldn't careless that they turned her into Madelynn-Lite.

Well, that brings an end to what was in the books. I am saddened it didn't have the Spider-Man issues that dealt with Hobgoblin, but that's okay, I'm sure I'll come across those issues in a Spider-Man collection or something eventually. Inferno itself was entetaining, but as I said previously, majorly convoluted. Way too complicated for its own good with several inconsistencies. I'm glad I did not buy these paperbacks because it would not be worth double dipping later on for the hardcovers. However, there is no way in hell the hardcover is worth $300, so I hope that Marvel will eventually either reissue it or just put it into an X-Men Omnibus (with the letters pages intact), even if they juts do the X-Men/X-Factor storyline in that book.

Now to jump like another 30 issues as I start reading the second Claremont/Lee Omnibus.

If you're claiming that the majority of the comics fanbase is 30-50 men, I'd be interested to see your sources for that. Even if it were true, it is a poor business model that panders to an ageing, shrinking demographic at the expense of newer ones.
Not to mention that according to the industry, the fastest growing comic demographic in recent times is 17-33 year old women, and others claim 45% of comic fans are already women.

None of that has anything to do with political correctness, though. You're complaining comics aren't the same now as they were when you were growing up, fair enough. But they weren't the same then as they were 30 years before that, either. Stories change to reflect the changes in the society that spawns them, as old stigmas and prejudice fall away the stories change to reflect that. It isn't some kind of political bias, it is popular culture reflecting the society that spawns it.

The difference between comic then and now is the characters created, even in the 60's through 90's were majorly new....unlike today where the majority of "new" characters are just cloned coattail riders who have had no real thought put into their creation ( due to untalented writers and corporate cheapness ) and are just rehashing old stories after year long spanning universe resetting/retconning crossover events that are nothing more than cashgrabs and attempts to lazily mislead readers that they can " change " with little effort.

Not to mention comics now cost 4-10 bucks ( depending on if its a special or normal ) are laden with more ads than a walking dead episode and most artwork looks like it came out of a special ed kindergarten class. Plus i knw very few " kids " who read comics...most are eo glued to their stupid phones they dont know what the blazes a comic even is.....unless their parent or grand parent ( christ i never thought id live long enough to say those words ) introduces them to them and even then most parents have are remiss to drop 22 bucks for four comics the kid is likely to decimate.
