These arrived a day early:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My initial impressions: 2099 - My second least favorite of the wave. The colors came out better than they looked in the pictures, but this costume is just unneccessary. Why did they change it in the comics? Is there a reason Miguel got a new costume? That aside, he also lacks accessories, like everything because he comes with nothing. A pair of extra hands would have been nice. Spider UK - Same issue as 2099, where are the god damned accessories? I do like the bulk of this figure though as he looks built to fight. He probably has the sloppiest paint work out of the other figures in the wave, which also dings a point from him, making him my least favorite of the wave. Jackal - Aside from the fact that he can't seem to focus whenever I try to take a picture of him on my camera (same goes for Goblin), this figure is pretty nice. He looks like an animal as the fur details came out pretty nice. I only know very little about this guy since the clone saga was where I stopped really following Spidey comics back in the 90s. Still, he is awesome. I can also picture Hasbro doing a Mutanted Animated Morbius repaint from this guy and just add wings to him. Oh, and now that I have him in person I can see why people said he would make a good Beast. Shocker - I love this figure! The paint details are spectacular and the face is great. Despite the effect pieces not really being a good representation of sound shocks, at least he comes with something compared to the other boozoos. Ms Marvel - It's cool, I guess. The lack of wrist rotation/swivel in the extended arms really harms the type of poses you can do with her, which royally sucks. The paint aps are terrific though and they seemed to really capture her look from the comics. I just don't really care about her though. Symbiote Spidey - I was really expecting to love this guy, but the final product has left me a little lukewarm. The sculpt is great, but his legs came warped from the way he was packaged, his waist is loose, and the arms are a little TOO tight. I might have to open my extra one to see if it is the same issue, but I chose to open the one I did since the paint job on the chest is better. The rest is the same as the Pizza Spidey, so I already knew what to expect there, which is why this figure should have been great instead of just good. Green Goblin - I loved Hobgoblin so I love this figure. The face sculpt is wonderful and he looks down right psychotic. I also love how they kind of molded his bag to not be completely flat as to prevent it from constantly sliding off his body like it does on Hobby. My only complaint is that the glider foot loops are a bit on the larger side, so whereas my Hobgoblin stays attached to his board at all times, Green Goblin does not. He loves to fall off of it, which is annoying at times. Also, like Jackal, he doesn't seem to want his picture taken. Of course, that takes nothing away from this stunning figure. Oh, and I love how the pumpkin bomb is fully painted. Sandman - I was initially disappointed that he didn't come with regular hands, but now, it doesn't matter because I would never pose him with them anyway. This guy is great, but he also shows how worthless the SDCC one is now since they don't mesh well together. At least the head with the face punched in looks great on it as it can act as like a body double. The sculpting in the air is superb and the interchangable pieces rock.

I hate USPS and their fraud they call insurance. About 8 years ago my dad shipped me one of my GI Joe boxes I packed up before I moved to CO. When I got it, it had a huge hole in the box, was missing three figures (they were all MOC), and even though it was insured up to $1000, the Post Office refused to pay me for the the missing product even though I gave them everything they required.

As far as insurance goes, yeah it's bull shit. I've gotten items broken, and disappeared, he'll once my wife's mother sent us two hand made baby quilts, and when the box arrived it was full of rags to match the weight, which tells me it was someone at the post office, and still nothing from the insurance. The only way the insurance will work is if the item disappears in rout before delivery, and can't be found for 30 days. |

Much obliged. Still unsure if I'm gonna pick up ANAD Miguel, but damn did they do a good job translating that costume into plastic. It's very toyetic. And he looks good with Spaceknight Venom.
Really, really having a hard time deciding on Venom there, because with the figures I have/plan on getting from that wave, I'll have a nearly-complete one, and while I generally try to avoid 'doubling up' when it comes to ML figures, having both Agent Venom and Spaceknight Venom is kind of appealing to me. Decisions, decisions.

If your carrier doesn't feel comfortable leaving it at your house for some reason, ( I've personaly been followed on my rout and seen some one pick up packages, I called in the plate, they were arrested, and at there home something like 80 packages were recovered) they will leave a pick up form and you can get it at the post office.

WOW there are some great deals to be had on legends from the posts you all are posting and what I've been seeing on Amazon lately, just takes patience in waiting 4-6 months to get them. I really may have to start doing that, after the Warlock X-wave of course. That sucker's mine as soon as I can get it to me.
Case in point, I kind of want to wait now on the rest of the figures I was planning to get from the Sandman wave, now that I have Jackal. It would be nice to score some figures on the cheap for once. |

Yeah, I noticed Red Skull and Eel are $9 a piece on Amazonn while Captain Britain is $6. I think I'm going to have to bite because I doubt I will see them for cheaper. I just bought all three for $25, that is cool since two of the three I didn't really feel like I needed while the other wasn't worth full price to me.
So what are this costume's abilities? What can Miguel do now that he couldn't do before? How did he acquire this costume? DId he make it? Did someone give it to him? How does he shoot spider webs in this one?

I know most of these waves are pretty cheap now but I don't think I'll buy them. Your review of Symbiote Spidey makes me think I might want to try to get the Rulk one. I love the highlights of it and I do like some variety. |

The X-men and GotG waves will be pre-ordered; X-men because it's likely to be hard to find in stores and GotG because I'm all over any Cosmic Marvel toy production. Additionally, many of these figs (outside of certain X-men and rare SDCC stuff) just don't hold their inflated value beyond 3-4 months. Not to mention the fact that the sheer number of figures coming out each year (seems like Hasbro intends to flood the market again next year), creates the need for a different approach. |

Thanks for the reviews and pics. They helped me realize that I'm perfectly happy with the old Toy Biz version of Sandman. Something about his sculpt doesn't scream Sandman to me.
Seeing Green Goblin and Hobgoblin together also makes me think that I'm fine with my old versions too. I felt so much glee opening and posing the old figures that I don't think I'll feel the same. I know most of these waves are pretty cheap now but I don't think I'll buy them. Your review of Symbiote Spidey makes me think I might want to try to get the Rulk one. I love the highlights of it and I do like some variety. My Silver Surfer is horribly misproportioned with oversized feet, loose knee joints, his head is too circular when it should be an oval shape, and the finger articulation, while cool in concept, makes the fingers look deformed when you try to put them into fists. As for Symbiote Spidey, I opened up my second one and the joints are perfect. I still had to heat the leg up to fix it, but no issues with joints at all on him. It's just that his paint job isn't as good. And you know what, Sandman looks pretty bad ass when I have two hammer-like pieces on him. :-D I'll definitely preorder the X-Men wave, but I can do without the GotG wave. The only figures I need from it are Darkhawk and most likely Death's Head II. So I took some new pictures of my Spidey shelves: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

See, I'm glad I don't have the Toybiz ones (Well I did have their Hobby MOC, but I gave it away to Toys for Tots a few years ago when I was certain I was no longer going to bother with Marvel stuff anymore) so I don't have to feel compelled to really compare the two, because honestly, I think Hasbro's Legends put the Toybiz ones to shame. Sure, Toybiz had unique sculpts, but I don't like how their thighs were pretty much balls (like it is on the BAF Sandman) and they didn't use ratchet joints.
I hate the ball jointed hips as well. They are the reason why I broke my BAF Apocalypse's leg off. But I don't pose my figs that much so as long as I can get them standing fairly straight it's fine. Not all the Toy Biz versions can be defended. I agree with you that the Silver Surfer figure is awful. I got one fairly recently in a lot and was surprised by how crappy his head sculpt is. For Green and Hobgoblin, I'm good with my 4 Horsemen sculpted figs. Sandman is good enough for me too. (Mostly because I don't want to pay BAF price for the Hasbro and I have the Raft version.) I will absolutely get the new Shocker. I don't own the old one but even if I did I would update as it looks much better. |

The suit was created for him by Peter at the beginning of the ANADM Spidey 2099 book, and aside from the powers he already had (which include the web-shooting), the new costume is designed to mimic the added abilities of his original costume, though now with anti-gravity material added to the back of his costume, giving him greater aerial mobility (and even flight) than the weblike airfoil did. So yeah, nothing particularly 'special' about the suit, but it's very striking and makes for a good-looking action figure (hence the 'toyetic' comment). I prefer the classic 2099 costume, but I like this one too.

On a tangential note, I saw the 12 inch Iron Man and Cap. Not bad...

@TBM
I agree. Spaceknight Venom is absolutely going in my modern GotG display and not a Spidey-centric one. I am also not a huge fan of Venom, although Agent Venom was by far my favorite. Never liked the Brock villain version. The Spaceknight version was better as a part of the GotG. I tried the first issue of his solo series but could not get into it. Getting the figures on the cheap (including the Sandman wave at 20% off each figure) is really the only reason I got back into Legends. Justifying the cost was a big reason why I dropped out of Legends for a while. I am not sure I will pre-order any waves anymore. Famous last words I am sure.... Regarding the 12 inch figures, they are pretty nice. I have Spider-Man and have seen Cap and Iron Man. That being said, after I bought Spidey I was not really sure he was worth $50 to me. Granted I spend that on 4" Figuarts figures but the differences in quality between the two are also a huge factor. @Dr. Kain The new suit maintains the webwing gliders while also giving him trusters in the boots that allow for something close to actual flight. The suit also has a lot of sensors and gadget as well as an invisibility mode similar to the Big Time suit. There may be more but that is as far as I have seen from where I have gotten on Marvel Unlimited. |
