I love that Storm soooo much! (sure she can be improved upon) I get that it wasn't the Storm a lot of people were waiting for, and as I gathered distribution was horrible. I was in luck and picked up the entire wave for regular online retailer price. Also, me liking this Storm does not mean I don't long for Giant Size / Classic, Morlock and Queen Ororo! |

@Daetrin
I like that iteration of the character well enough. It was the look she was sporting in the comics at the time. Fans can be pretty fickle and most times, regardless of the decision made, there are going to be detractors. Would I like a classic Storm? Sure. But if they had flipped the scenario and made the classic first, there would be people clamoring for a modern version. ![]() ![]() ![]() ...of course, Storm isn't the only character suffering through dubious costume choices. Many complained about Electro also. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't think Hasbro can win this fight. They have so many balls to keep in the air at once. They need to appease the classic folks, the nineties folks, the modern folks, the movie folks, the disney cartoon/next generation folks ... I quite like this Electro. It is a flawed compromise, but a damn fine one at that. I'm glad we didn't just get a third classic rendition, of which a good number of people would have yelled: "unnecessary" - or a just a modern one of which many people would have yelled: "blasphemy" The myth of the penultimate final version of a character seems rather ridiculous to me. (it's good to be back on these boards!) |

Chances are it'll be a movie version, but I would a comic style Ego.

How are they going to release a figure of Ego? He would have to be as big as a Death Star.

Look, if they wanted to, hasbro could make " perfect" versions of every character in three or so versions of each... but why would they? If you had a perfect first appearance storm, 80's Mohawk storm, a perfect Jim Lee storm, and modern. Would you ever buy another? Hasbro has to play the long game, otherwise they have to repack and repaint core characters and piss us off more. Or load the line with really obscure characters that very few people want, that said I think if they made more obscure villains like eel, cotton mouth, jack o lantern, ones kids may not recognize, but who look cool as hell we wouldn't get so many peg warmers. If for instance, sharron carter from the onslaught wave, who is a relatively obscure hero, who suffers from a dull look, were swapped with diamond back, I don't think she'd be warming pegs as bad. Same with kitty pride, If her spot was taken by spiral, and swap havoc for mr.sinister, forearm, or better yet black Tom (he'd have been perfect in the juggernaut wave) we might actually see some open space for new figures.

HAH! Thanks. You're right, Hasbro can't possibly satisfy the mercurial flights of fancy of disparate fans. In my opinion, much of the "Storm-hate" phenomenon is resultant of a lack of access, as you mentioned. It's sad to think that opinions can be subjectively shaped by one's ability to acquire something. I'd like to think better of 'us' as a collecting community; an expectation that we are less susceptible to hackneyed opinions or lapses in our ability to objectively reason. Oh well, such is not the case, but I'm not trippin'... |

All I want is the Giant Size/First appearance Storm. I don't need Jim Lee Storm or Mohawk Storm, or even a modern Storm. Not that I wouldn't also buy the former two, but I want the version that was there when Phoenix was part of the team. Wolverine is really the only one I don't mind having the brown costume instead of the yellow one for that era (although I will buy the yellow costume one too).
It's kind of funny though because for most of the characters, as long as I own them, I'm happy. Like I'm quite happy to have the Hulkbuster Dr Strange despite him not having a cape (but I will buy the one with the cape as soon as I can find him discounted) or looking like the original. However, when it comes to X-Men, I want specific versions and I don't know why. Of course, I would also love a Romita Sr Spider-Man (with the web wings of course).

The video got me so excited for the possibility of Hasbro figuring out how to release an outrageous character like Ego ... so what's with calling J'son Ego? That's the stuff that gets me scared going into a movie! Glad we got to see images of Mantis so I don't have to worry about them switching her with Annihilus! Hihi! If they know what's good for them! (else you might have to figure out the GotG equivalent of a horse and ship it's head to them with bed-placing instructions) ![]() ![]() AND XD Probably so! Still pending so here's absolutely hoping! ![]()

![]() More of my dorrmammu pieces came in. I also found a guy that had the mystic items so I got them as well and I figure the magic arm could be a special dormmuu beating stick or trophy. I figure You don't rule the dark dimension without ripping off a few body parts of your enemys. Just need the leg and magic piece from the movie strange figure.

![]() ![]() These two came in from Amazon today even though they were supposed to arrive tomorrow so that was a nice surprise. My Spidey's legs were fine and my only issue with the body was that the shoulders were kinda stuck at the hinges and with those butterfly joints right there it's not so easy to work with. Overall good though and I'm real glad to have it since it is a favorite look of mine. Shocker is great and came with no paint issues or stuck joints but he does have a tiny amount of extra plastic (or maybe paint) on the bottom of his right fist beneath the knuckle bracer. While I would've liked the knee pads to maybe have been the same paint as his gauntlets I don't think they hurt the look being the color they are. My only gripe is that the energy effects are weak for his blasts, they look like they would look nice on other figures like as energy for Captain Marvel or extra magic for Dr Strange but as Shocker's blasts they're a miss. Also still feel like Shocker should've come with Silvermane's head since he was the one who found him and not Speed-Demon but that's not really a comment about this figure.

Yes. Magic powers or not would you want to fight anything swinging an a magic arm like a bat?
Is there a dorrmammu sized guitar out there?? I really need one. Why you ask? Because how else will he win his axe battle!

Yes, actually! There were some Guitar Hero figures a few years back, and they sold packs of guitars separately. I picked up a few, you can probably still find them on eBay and Amazon.
They scale quite nicely with Legends figures. ![]() He'll look great in Kurt Russell form, but I'm secretly hoping for a squishy Ego stress ball or something. I'd be very surprised if his planet form isn't represented in some way. |

It's been showing up on international sites, so I'm sure BBTS will have it any day now.

Haha I need a stress ball so I'm in favor that would be pretty awesome if it was a big planet! I have a feeling too it will be Kurt Russell which ah man that's something I would want to buy and invest in lol

Hahaha! Love the pic of Spidey with the guitar. I used the movie Venom figure with a guitar too. I'll have to find some pics of it.

Just re-watched Guardians of the Galaxy. It's just such a great/refreshing film. Many of the Marvel movies get detoured/bogged down with trying to set-up the next film. I love how connected, yet different it is from all the others. Now, I'm super hyped for GotG2!!
Hopefully, we'll get an updated Gamora to go with the rest of the Guardians in second wave. With all of the #WheresGamora unrest from the first film, you'd think Hasbro would get her face out there ASAP. |

In my experience the entire first movie wave was super easy to find except for Nova and Rocket but even they were fairly accessible by that August. As I had predicted the Iron Man was the one that did not sell and over a year later he could still be found in the clearance section.

I didn't even bother with the hunt. I was so thirsty that I bought the entire case before it hit retail saturation, I wanted my BAF Groot. The first Gamora figure would have been decent if the head sculpt was a bit more accurate.
Who will be the other GotG wave BAFs? Someone cooler than Titus, I hope. |
