Throw me in as someone else who'd like Phyla-Vell. Loved the character and am still hoping Marvel wises up and brings her back.
Quote:
Yeah...I do get Titus. You said it right at the beginning when you mentioned the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series. Same thing with Kid Nova (who I am not sure if that's the same Nova represented in the cartoon...but perhaps a Nova fan could answer that.) And the Iron Skull and White Tiger before it. While some of these characters were represented in the comics, they were all a part of popular cartoon series that were enjoyed by kids and adults, therefore, they make sense to me.
Warlock? I seriously doubt anyone under the age of 30 remembers him unless they are in the hardcore, X-comic omnibus crowd. And while everyone was bitching (and still is...) about Titus being given a BAF, NO ONE was asking for Warlock, except maybe the four or five of you here who are walking Marvel Universe Volumes...(and that's not meant to be a dig...trust me...your knowledge of just the existence of these characters astounds me.) Many other toy forums and websites expressed similar sentiments, so I know I'm not alone here. Maybe it was the artwork (which I always thought was a hot mess,) or the design, or maybe it was just the character himself (such as the way he always spoke in the third person,) but for whatever reason, I thought he sucked, and was therefore was glad when Cameron Hodge offed him. Plus, his death in turn gave us the Phalanx, who I always thought were kinda neat, and have been big time players against the X-Men since. Sorry if I don't share the same X-bias as many others here, but them's the breaks. If I had to choose between the two, I would take Titus over Warlock any day, and I know next to nothing about him outside of his appearance on Ultimate Spider-Man. It doesn't make him a better BAF than Warlock (in fact the Warlock BAF will probably be the better of the two due to the amount of unique sculpting that will go into it...) but at the same time, he makes more sense due to his recent moonlighting in the cartoon series, as opposed to a character who died back in 1991. Then again, we got an Eel figure, and no one was screaming for him either, so what do I know?... |

not to b 2 negative....
but "to me"...this is the least exciting wave I've seen since I started collecting Legends. I don't feel like any of these come across as "MUST OWNS"...which probably has to do with my attachment..or lack thereof for most of these characters.. I was never a huge Guardians fan and the movie was just okay to me. Darkhawk was one of those badass 90's Characters I liked so I'm definitely getting him. I doubt he will be hard to find at all since he is a somewhat Obscure character Last edited by Tim; 01-28-2017 at 08:59 AM.. |

Now don't get me wrong, I don't feel like I needed to have a figure of Warlock either, especially when there are other X-Men characters I want. However, he makes more sense to me than a one shot from a subpar cartoon. Plus, at least it's something. Of course, this also means that Hasbro better give us other characters from The New Mutants book.

I can't wait for that Sunfire and Jim lee Cyclops. And The 90's Spidey cartoon i still watch from time to time.. Same with the X men one but I don't care for that new terrible Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon at all.

Well, my fever dropped!
I'm ready to love the world again! We really liked the first GotG and are really looking forward to the next instalment. Sure, it's not that exact representation of that amazing Abnett and Lanning run that I and so many love, but for us, it has such great balance throughout the entire film. The cartoon doesn't work for us or our daughters. It's always nice to see anything Marvel pass our view, but I guess we live in an age of abundance. Thanks for those pics Marvelfangirl! Awesome to get a good look at the actual toys. I have several on pre-order. We'll see about the rest once the wave hits. At the moment I'm saving up for that X-Wave Warlock! (you know, cause I'm one of those over 30 peoples) |

Great review! ![]() I'm thinking of biting the bullet and buying it from Thailand if possible. Ebay gave me this $10 off coupon that expires February 17th so that could save me a little money. I'm actually going to look soon for Marvel Legends today hopefully ![]()

There's a difference though. Kid Nova was in nearly the entire series. Titus showed up for one episode in its third season and that was it.
Most people under the age of 30 won't know who Dazzler or Sunfire are either. Same goes for other characters in the line like the Serpent Society members. Also, Hobgoblin and Morbius haven't been in a Spider-Man cartoon since the 90s show. No one was asking for Titus either. Nor Space Venom. Or that Hulk-like Green Goblin thing, etc. Warlock on the other hand (at least this iteration of him) has been dead for a LONG time, so it's bizarre to see him come from out of nowhere...but then again, Hasbro has been scratching itches lately with some of their choices for obscure characters. I'm not even sure what we're even debating anymore...so I'll just leave it there...lol. Quote:
Kinda reminds me of the very first time I saw the trailer for Blade back in the movie theaters. Some friends of mine were like, "is that the dude from the Spider-Man cartoon?" and I had to explain that Blade had actually been around Marvel for a long time before ever appearing in that Fox show. Even Stan Lee has expressed regret for not fully capitalizing on the Marvel Comics link when Blade hit theaters, because for many, that Spider-Man cartoon and the film were the only exposure they had ever had to the character. |

I don't really know or care much about Wendell so I'll reiterate I'd like Phyla back.
I dunno. Maybe I just couldn't get past him being named "Wendell." ![]() These days I think most people are exposed to characters through movies and TV or video games first, so it's pretty common. ![]()

It's been a few short years since we saw him and he's still alive. ![]() Quote:

I watched teh Spider-Man toon from the 90s back in Sept and it was pretty awful. X-Men, still held up greatly. Right now, The Spectacular Spider-Man is the only Spidey toon that has been anything truly... spectacular.

First off triv, Warlock was huge in the 90's I dare say infinity war was marvels biggest and largest ( in scope) crossover event untill civil war. He was (I'm really stressing my memory banks here) the most powerful being in the universe! I feel like sentry really stole a lot of his story, with the whole "evil version" self distructive aspect. I expect he's going to make some kind of appearance in regards to the infinity war avengers movie, so hasbro is probably just introduceing him to the public. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a larger roll in the toons and comics in the run up to a movie appearance
Dr.kain, what did you think of the MTV spider man cartoon? I've never seen it but I hear it's ok, and ultimate spidey is ending this year and being replaced with a more cartoonish version so yay...bad gets worse... always. I'm waiting for a marvel Tsum tsum series. |

My bad, didn't read back far enough... we are getting an Adam warlock though? Right? As for the other warlock he was OK...BAF worthy, I'd say no, only because there are more "worthy" characters up for the slot. I'd put up an AOA apocalypse, like juggernaut size, or strong guy, or even a multi armed regular sized figure like spiral. I never really think of warlock (or douglock) as being larger than an average person.

Just curious what are your guys thoughts on Marvel Legends Knockoffs or bootlegs in general? There was a pretty cool Vision that has been getting good reviews.

He's a bit tall, same with the civil war hawkeye. Other than the scale issue they seem good, I don't really think they are knock offs, as much as China's version of marvel legends. They just have some really screwy product licensing rules. Morally and ethically... I honestly quit careing, when 3.75 figures hit the 13$ mark I say, F it steal the basterds. .

Correct. Beast is 5'10 & was drawn at that hgt by 2 of the greatest Avengers artists back in the 70s/80s , George Perez & John Byrne who were both sticklers for drawing their characters at their listed comic book hgts. Even when Jim Lee started drawing X-men in the early 90s, he mighta drawn Beast a bit more massive, but his hgt was not "Hulking". Don't know where people get this notion that Beast should be "Hulk" sized. The 90s animated X-men cartoon was based on Jim Lee's team & Beast was animated normal hgt, plus he is almost always in a semi crouch. Jackal buck would be perfect for a Perez/Byrne Beast.

I want a nimrod, but I don't think he should be a BAF. I always see him being shorter than colossus.

Yup, it was shown to us back with the Death's Head II reveal. It's his DnA black and red lightning bolt design. Apparently it's part of a second GotG wave which has yet to be fully revealed and the release time is unknown. I'm really hyped for it because I'm really into Adam Warlock and with that costume it'd be very easy for Hasbro to include a swap off Magus head.

When I heard that Adam Warlock was getting a new figure, I was really hoping it would be his 1998/99 mini series costume. I really liked that design.
