....You do realize that it's a trailer, right? And not indicative of the overall film as a whole? I mean, IIRC this was pretty similar to every other GOTG (both films) trailer in existence...

I like laughing. I can be funny...at times! ![]() I'm a Giants fan, so there's nothing any Patriot fan can say to me. I grew up in New England and you've no idea how obnoxious these dudes can be! LOL I guess, over the next two weeks, I'll be avoiding sports media/conversations...and eating a lot of Twinkies! ![]() ![]() Maybe drax has a slackjawed cousin, Drips? Haha

I think that the humor element in GOTG is just there thing, like Cap movies are more like john Grisham spy thrillers, Thor movies are kind if lord of the rings style fantasy driven films, IM is just kind of classic super hero action, dr strange is kind of in the fantasy realm, and the guardians are just a little more in the humor realm, but I like it personally, Chris Pratt is how I would act if i was abducted by space pirates when I was 10. And they are more of an aclectic group of adventurers, they are all kind of nuts for one reason or another. So yeah I think they'd be a little less serious than the avengers, who are all disciplined people with a purpose and a unifying mission. Besides who wants a comic property like guardians to take itself too seriously, hell one of their members is a raccoon, another's a tree. C'mon people how serious could you be day to day if two of your best friends were a talking raccoon, and a tree baby?

Yeah I agree with ya. But that's how every Chris Pratt anything is even that Jurassic Park movie he acted like himself. But the GOTG 2 It reminds me of like a Melissa McCarthy movie but less funny. Which is saying something lol.

Have you seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy? It was fucking hilarious also it was fucking gritty and edgy. Gunn has an epic storyline planned for Vol. 2 I have all the faith in him and the movie itself, of course.

That's exactly what I was going to say.
The first movie mixed serious tones with whimsical and was overwhelmingly applauded for maintaining that balance. If these things take themselves too seriously, you end up with a train wreck in the same vein as Batman vs. Superman. No, thanks. The trailers flaunt it because people are drawn to the cheeky and eccentric characters, but make no mistake, there is substance to be found as well. |

Daredevil and Jessica Jones were gritty. Luke Cage was gritty and edgy. Guardians was a light-hearted, comedic adventure, a sort of Indiana Jones in space. (No Crystal Skull references intended...) I agree though with the tone of many of the MCU offerings though as of late. While I don't want my Marvel films to be as dull and drab as DC's offerings up to this point, a little less snark could go a long way overall in making them a bit more entertaining. Sometimes as I'm watching them, I feel as if I am watching a sort of superhero Gilmore Girls, where I'm saying to myself, "Who talks like that all the time in real life?" |

Also, keep in mind that the Super Bowl trailer is made to draw the GenPop in, and they'll be wanting the humor. Of course that's what's gonna be highlighted.

![]() I'm okay with an irreverent space adventure, I think it is so universally well-regarded and reviewed because it is a refreshing take on the space epic/super hero genre. As kylactus said, if it were me, I'd be traversing the stars with a similarly carefree sense of style. There was some dire stuff too, and they tackled it with the same focus. It's a balance, as I said. Life is funny, it's okay to laugh at stuff. |

And I wouldn't even think this kind of thing would need to be explained, but here we are.

Two different films of course, Civil War was hilarious with a huge cliffhanger that was pretty dark. I have a feeling once again people will be surprised with GotG.

Yeah I see your point and as Brownfinger stated I also agree with. Gunn has a great story planned one that I think will bring the emotion and serious tones to the forefront.

People gotta unclench a little and appreciate that these things are made for entertainment purposes, you know? But that's me. Like I said, if you gave me the vast canvas of space and a freaking gorgeous spaceship, I'd play the dashing intergalactic adventurer, too. |

Holy crap, every time you get Tom Holland and Robert Downey in a room together, it's magic. I mean, so much of Civil War was grim and compelling, and it worked because it was executed perfectly. But on the other side, these things are about grown ass adults in fancy cosplay and it's really not meant to approached with such dour attitudes. Humor was used more sparsely in Civil War, but it's something that you could tell people have grabbed onto and appreciate.

becuz super serious comic fans. We cant have anything fun. Enter the 3rd wave of Spiderman films in the last 15 years, and they still wont be happy. "Oh no they ruined the Mandarin. Oh no, they ruined Ultron." No, they got tons of people to watch and love movies that they might not have ever even thought about.
