The Odin wave continues to vex me.
My pre-order still hasn't been fulfilled and while the stores around me have shelf space for them, they don't have stock. Not sure if it's due to the dock strike issues or the weather has slowed down distribution or what. |

Join the club. The small 'mom and pop' outfit I've ordered from has cited every excuse in the book as a potential cause for the delay. Oddly though, they shot down the idea that the strike in Cal. might be a potential culprit. He/she has moved an early Feb. delivery date to early Mar. I know the demand is high for the wave, but retailers have seemingly gotten two allotments at this point. I wonder if Hasbro and retailers have brokered a deal that places priority on storefront stock. Similar to the way Sony and Microsoft attempted to force DRM at the behest of developers (an effort meant to squeeze Gamestop), it's possible that Hasbro is assisting lackluster retail sales by supplying them first. An effort that would bring more 'hunters' and boost retail foot traffic. Online sales have been devastating retail for some time and this may represent a trend to level the playing field. Just a thought; the mind tends to wander in the face of mounting frustration...

If you really want them, order a case off BBTS, Or eBay/Amazon. I always prefer to go retail vs online as atm exchange rate sucks and shipping costs don't help. But for anybody in the States shipping isn't overly much. I've seen the Odin wave at retail both at Walmart and TRU. I haven't been out at either spot recently, due to massive storms in my area. Last time I was out Walmart has 3 Hawkeye's and 1 Machine Man left, and TRU only had Hawkeye as I bought everything else lol.

i might try starting to hunt them down around wal-marts and toys r us this weekend. i can't justify paying a higher amount for something that could be $10 dollars or so cheaper then my LCS.

I was considering buying the Spider-Man wave as well and while I am fine with a duplicate Spidey, the duplicate Anti-Venom (which I do not particularly want even one of) is also double-packed. Paying $140 for 6 figures instead of $160 for 8 did not seem worthwhile. If only the second double-pack was any of the other figures.... I definitely understand the preference to support retail but around here that is incredibly difficult. The closest Wal-Mart to me has a dozen Cosmic Iron Man figures warming the peg. Anyone who wants the GotG wave here is pretty SOL unless they go online. |

Hydra Soldier + TRU X-Men Cyke or Angel = Instant (well, a bit under 45 minutes) no painting required Classic Vision. =) Helpful equation if the lack of an updated Classic Vision from the Toy Fair reveals bummed you out at all.

I totally agree. Ordering off BBTS was totally worth it for me for this wave. I bought the full 8 pack case which showed up on Monday. Even with shipping, the per figure cost was less than I would have paid off the shelf from TRU and probably comparable to negligibly higher than from Wal-Mart or Meijer. Granted I got an extra Hawkeye but I have already seen some customs using him that make me want to try my hand at it as well.

Anyone who wants the GotG wave here is pretty SOL unless they go online. In regards to online shopping I tend to use Amazon if I'm only wanting a few figures from the wave. I already have Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel because that's all I wanted from that wave. The wave 2 will be the same, only want Hellcat and maybe Batroc. Undecided on the Spider-man wave (Misty Knight's definitely a go though) and definitely considering doing a wave order with the Avengers 3rd wave. That Ant-Man wave though, will be preordered as a case of singles the moment the link is up. Too much awesomeness in that wave to not justify getting it as a set. |

Target, Wal-Mart, TRU, and Meijers here all have blank shelf pegs waiting to get stock in (Well Target has been spreading out the Winter Soldier figures to make them not look so empty) and have for the last few weeks; Meijers here even has dedicated pegs for the Odin wave including a "New Item!" sticker on the ends of the peg in their Avengers section, but zero stock. Fortunately a friend on TFW works next door to the Target closest to me and let me know that they got the wave in yesterday afternoon. I went out last night and picked up the whole wave, then when I got home, cancelled my pre-order. I also visited the second closest Target and the closest Meijers and they still don't have stock in. (I'd like a second Thor) Getting them in person saved me $4.33 over my preorder. Anyway, as to the figures themselves, really like them. The BAF legs were really hard to get in, they just didn't want to pop in. Once they did, I built my King Thor. Marvel Now Thor is a great beefy figure that I've been looking forward to for some time. Sentry impressed me with how bulky he is, though I was a little surprised to see how tiny Carol is. EDIT: And of course, Amazon now has them in for MSRP (and Prime free shipping - Yay!). I picked up the second Now Thor I wanted, since it's cheaper than retail for me and I won't have to keep my eye out at all anymore. Last edited by Pravus Prime; 02-19-2015 at 11:12 AM.. Went searching for the new Spidey Wave. went to a toys r us, wal-mart, and target all this morning..... i was hoping to find this wave but apparently they still aren't available. TRU had the GOTG legends, and also very few. wal mart and target had NOTHING...
i know quite a few of you have luck with finding them via stores local to you. i have had no luck as of today. honestly not quite sure if it's worth it looking and wasting gas to go hunt these down. maybe better off buying at a online store BBTS etc. |

I used to love going out and hunting for the new toys, but when Amazon gets them up for pre order, I normally go there. It makes life so much easier. There's a toys r us like 1 mile from my job, but they never seem to get anything new (and when they do, it's late coming out). I hate to sound old or something, but don't waste the gas lol.
I won't say that getting older didn't have anything to do with it, but after not finding anything but a big ole helping of disappointment for several months in a row, we just figured it wasn't worth it to do anymore. |

I hear ya. The hunt used to be awesome and something I looked forward to. I remember for about 7 years, until 2005/2006 or so, a good collecting friend and I would do an overnight run of about 7-8 walmarts in the middle TN area every other weekend or so.

Online ordering sounds alot better right now. |

I won't say that getting older didn't have anything to do with it, but after not finding anything but a big ole helping of disappointment for several months in a row, we just figured it wasn't worth it to do anymore. Back in the day, if I didn't stumble upon the Marvel Legend or Star Wars figures that I was looking for, chances are I would spot a Transformer, a rare Lord of the Rings figure, a McFarlane figure, a Mattel Justice League animated figure, or whatever else I needed and was collecting at the time. I rarely went home empty-handed, and typically found something worthwhile. I've been trying to figure out if there are just fewer figures that I want these days, or if I was just buying indiscriminately back then, but either way, these days, when I don't find the priority figures that I'm looking for, I'm unlikely to find "consolation prize" figures either. Combine that with the large amounts of time required to hunt; time that I could be spending on my other hobbies and my social life, and yeah, overall, it's just not the exciting experience that it once was.
