If they are going the Avengers route for next year with no movie. how about Mockingbird, Tigra, Graviton, Starfox, Wonderman, Thunderstrike.

Replace Starfox *BLEHCH) and Tigra (not necessary IMO) with Spectrum/Captain Marvel/Pulsar/Photon/whoisshethisweek and you've got yourself a deal.

Though honestly the Avengers i'd most like to see are Justice, Firestar, Spectrum, Mockingbird and Sersi in that order I think. But i don't see them doing 4 females...

Since he's been associated closely with the Avengers recently, I'd love a Captain Britain redo on the new Tiger Shark mold.

That Toybiz body which he and Wonder Man were on is one of my least favourite molds. Those shoulder muscles..

Get to customizing, bros... that's all any of us can really do with all the behind the scenes licensing drama holding favorite characters hostage. I feel like I liberated myself from all that crap when I decided to learn how to make stuff on my own.

I really wish Marvel/Disney and Fox would settle whatever spat this is so that the fans can have what they want. While I could care less about the X related characters (for the most part) they have a huge fan-base and those fans suffering for the spat is getting annoying.

I am curious what the marketing deal is regarding characters. While Fox may own marketing rights to any film versions of the characters, I find it hard to believe that Marvel would not have rights to comic versions. I find it rather idiotic to think that toys are really going to drive more sales to a movie. In all likelihood, the reverse seems more plausible.

I really need to get off my butt and work on mine. My custom Phyla Vell and White Lantern Kyle have been sitting on my table for weeks now with no progress.

Marvel made their bed in the 80s when they sold those rights.

The only other information I know as to why they are so vindictive with fox is because of not only the FF, but Deadpool. When XMO:W came out, Fox almost got sued because of what they did to Deadpool, but Marvel decided to turn the other cheek and try to make people forget that was him, so they obviously oversaturated the market with Deadpool merchandise and began to feature him even more. Fox also tried hard to win back Mavel's love with pitching a Deadpool script where he knows he's in a movie and takes on Fox's executives for bastardizing his character.

Which if they hadn't they'd be a completely different company now.

The problem to the Ironman and Fantastic 4 lines were a bit more complicated than simply 'they didn't take off!' You had time slot issues for one. They were stuck at 5am-6am blocks instead of the prime 10am slot X-Men and Spider-man had at Fox, which also had premium season premiere kickoffs during a weekday evening because Fox treated those properties with expert care to monetize them well.

Ironman and Fantastic 4 couldn't even find an audience with their time slots let alone a steady channel. Then you also had the first season issues that treated the audiences like they were unintelligent which hindered the expertly handled season 2 of each that tried to fix those mistakes a bit too late, especially with the time slot they were stuck in without a universal network name to back them and make it easier for advertisements. All print ads had "Check your local listings!" Whereas X-Men and Spider-man had "Only on Fox!"

Then you get to the toy issues. For Iron Man you had Vac-metalized toys with high quantity diverse parts caused low returns on the figures over say X-Men or Spider-man that relied heavily on parts re-usage, repaints, and other manners of cost cutting to maximize profits. Also the issue that it was 4 ironman figures per wave, 1-2 villains, and 1-2 support heroes if lucky. Fantastic 4 had similar issues with the initial line up being very gimmick heavy. Mr. Fantastic with real rubber arms(which could not be posed at all), a spark chamber Human Torch and that gawdawful punch mechanism thing. They didn't even make a decent Thing figure until wave 3 or 4(the trench coat Thing). There were many issues to fantastic 4 and iron man's 90s toy run, and they contributed to that downfall, but they did make some stellar season 2s. Those were on par with X-Men and Spider-man.

Now where you really see the issue is with Avengers: United they Stand with the power rangers like armoring up sequences and non-compatible to previous lines action figures.

The toy biz toy market was a massive boom though and had a quite diverse assortment that covered many things. It was so diverse they even managed an initial Marvel Vs Capcom line as well as a Night Warriors line, Street Fighter vs X-Men, The Vault as it's criminal focused line, and many more. But you're also talking about a period of time when the comic boom was happening. When that bubble popped, toy biz themselves quickly went under outright. To the point the only thing "Marvel Toys" (What toy biz changed their name to) may still do to this day is Curious George toys. You'll even notice as the X-Men lines progressed, they started Comic influenced heavy, switched to toon heavy, and then for most waves and lines after were comic focused. Though they did manage to get a repackage line going that was very toon heavy on the figures and had a standard size threshold among them all. It's around when the size threshold went out the window that sales started fluctuating.

All of this of course eventually led to the birth of Marvel Legends itself. For the most part though, it was how well the toons were handled and the regularity of the network that helped make or break them.

If Ironman or fantastic 4 had come out the door with their season 2s to build from there, they would have lasted as long as X-Men and Spider-man possibly. But the time slot and lack of a universal network were already strong hindrances.

Avengers: United they stand was on Fox and was looking to be the next X-Men, but the people behind the show changed too much with the properties. They relied too heavily on gimmicks, and the writing was more towards those season 1's of Fan4 and Ironman with treating audiences like they were unintelligent.

It's kind of an unfair comparison. Hulk's show also had extreme promise, but it was on UPN, and no one really knew what channel that was or if they even had it. The toys managed to do well for awhile. Again it was one of those hit or miss shows though. Season 1 having some heavy problematic areas that season 2 tried to correct, but at that point they'd already lost a good chunk of their audience. Season 2 of Hulk had some great episodes though, including a really decent Iron man episode. Honestly, I'd take season 2 of Hulk's 90s toon and the season 2 of Iron Man over the current Hulk: Agents of S.M.A.S.H. any day. I'd take them over the 90s Spider-man toon too.

^^You make some amazing points. However, most of the Iron Man figures were the same figure with different add on parts (Just Iron Man and War Machine, all the other characters different mold I believe). But it was all about Spider-Man and the X-Men growing up. That's part of the reason why my first two tattoos were and X-Men "X" and a Venom spider. No Avengers "A" on my arm, haha. Don't get me wrong, I am happy about the Avengers success, but I would like to see the X-Men up at the top again. Just look at the old 90's toys. We got obscure characters that only appeared in a few issues. We're not getting that with Legends. I'd take a Tusk or Killspree, haha.

Those were the days. I have a lot of those one/two story characters from the lines they made in the 90's. Although to be honest I haven't even considered putting Tusk or Killspree on even my long wishlist. Though I'd probably buy them, not 100% sure but it's definitely variety, if nothing else for cannon fodder. I'd like to see bigger more prevalent names first though for sure, at least people who showed up in more than a half dozen issues.

All those iron mens and the two war machines were mostly different molds. I had nearly all of them as a kid. The only two that shared any obvious base body parts that were the same were the basic modular and the hydro armor. And even they had a few small differences still besides wildly different paint schemes. Even the two war machines had some differences besides the vac-metallized armor they all had that was completely different. That's what made the line fun though. Mixing all those armors up to make your own Iron Man was a blast. I always preferred the Inferno Iron Man buck with inferno gauntlets, belt, and shoulders, but used basic iron man's boots and chest pieces. Inferno Iron Man had a more interesting head. Never did get Samurai Iron Man though and I skipped the Silver Centurion armor they did. Subteranean armor was awesome too though. And the Hulkbuster I've since used to kit bash into a different hulk-buster now. Titanium Man was bad ass too. Never did manage to get Crimson Dynamo though.

A lot of that was also because of the background cameos in the toon. Tusk was in an episode himself. As were many others. They really pushed that envelope on crowd scenes too. Shame the only Nimrod we got was the one off X-Force one though, and not the one in the toon that was more classic comic inspired.

Anyone else get this guy in the mail yet? He is pretty badass, and fills the spot perfectly (for me anyways) as my comic Buster in place of the old Toy Biz HB...

Mine should be coming in soon, if not already waiting for me back at home.

How's the figure itself? Looks pretty solid from the picture and others I've seen around the web. Can't wait to get it in my hands!

Ah, my mistake Snowflakian, thanks for clearing that up. I had the Inferno armor one. I used him as my regular Iron Man, he was close enough haha.

I didn't check yet, but I believe he is... he definitely seems more Legends scale than Select.

The figure is GREAT. Out of the package, most people (myself included) repositioned his head to sit higher; the factory really pushed it into the chest, but it's easy to heat and pop as it's a very pliable rubber. Aside from that and a very minor nitpick that I wish the fingers on his left hand were a little more expressive, I'd say he's a must buy for anyone without a 1:12 comic buster.

Glad to know! Also, happy that he is more in line with the Legends scale. Might just pass on the HB BAF after all.

Man you just brought back some memories. I used to do the same thing. I was not even an Iron Man comic fan but the mech fan in me loved buying those Iron Man figures and swapping parts to make my own. Samurai Iron Man was my favorite lol.

Actually, I wasn't expecting to like this figure as much as I do, and now I'm also debating whether or not to keep my order for the BAF HB. Both my wallet and dwindling display space is leaning towards a pass on it. lol

Where are you guys ordering that Hulkbuster at? I've been buying a lot of marvel select lately, and I hope to put him toe to toe with Juggernaut.
