Picked up Iron Man mark 43 (Thanos) today from Target, price matched to $12.23. The guy actually checked to see it was the same figure that I had pulled up on my phone (I had), and no fuss, price changed.
I almost feel bad for having put off picking him up; I think the 43 may be my favorite Iron Man figure. (If he had interchangeable hands like the IM2 figures, it would be a no brainer) A brief blast of the hair dryer and the right shoulder pad was back in place. I kept hearing mediocre stuff about this guy and either I got a great one or people just complain to complain. Super tight ankle joints, sharp paint aps, only the hip joints aren't super tight and they're far from floppy. Plus that red looks great in person. |

Exactly...he's either clueless or feigning innocence.
But yeah...if you don't know your product, maybe you shouldn't try selling it. I know jack of anything about cars, so the last thing I would try to do is become a car salesman. Same thing for this guy. I just hope that he didn't actually pay for that, and is trying to flip it in hopes of making a buck because he honestly thought in that 90's mindset that "variants and packaging mistakes = big bucks." Bout the only person I can see grabbing it is someone who needs that particular Sinestro for some reason... |

So I just got the Target 3 pack and was pretty disappointed just now when I noticed that Hulks torso doesn't even match his arms/head, which are a brighter green, but the torso is the exact same unpainted Pea green as the Ruffalo Hulk. Par for the course at this point but I was sort of looking forward to the bright green Hulk.

On Yahoo News...well, what do you know?
NEW YORK (AP) -- Starting Thursday, Target will now match its online prices with more than two dozen online competitors including Amazon.com and Walmart.com. The change in policy marks a big step for the Minneapolis-based retailer, which until now only matched prices at its own stores. Target is also allowing 14 days, up from seven, for shoppers to get a price adjustment. And the retailer is increasing the number of online rivals that it will match from five to 29. That includes for the first time stores that require membership, like Costco and Sam's Club. The latest move underscores how Target aims to rev up its e-commerce business, which increased by 30 percent in the latest quarter. It also wants to win market share from rivals, a key part of its strategy under its CEO Brian Cornell, who took the helm in August, 2014. Target made a splash last holiday shopping season when it offered free shipping without any minimum dollar order. Earlier this year, it permanently lowered its free shipping threshold to $25 from $50. But the latest move underscores how Target is trying to align its online price-match policy with its brick-and-mortar stores and create a seamless experience for shoppers jumping from stores to online. "These are simple changes, but they mean a lot for our guests," Jason Goldberger, president of Target.com told a packed room of 13,000 store managers at a recent meeting held in Minneapolis. In January 2013, Target announced that year-round it would match the prices of its store purchases with five online retail rivals that included Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Bestbuy.com. Target had started to match prices of store purchases with a group of online rivals in 2012 but that was only during the holiday shopping season. Target's latest change in policy follows the lead of Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Staples, all of which match their online prices with online rivals. But Target's adjustment puts it ahead of other retailers like Toys R Us, which matches prices for in-store purchases with online rivals but only match their online prices with its own stores. Late last year, Wal-Mart formalized its policy of matching its store purchases with online prices found on sites like Amazon.com. It also matches its online prices with select online rivals. Sucharita Mulpuru-Koadali, an analyst at Forrester Group, says fewer people take advantage of price matching when they buy a product online versus buying it in a store because the process is more tedious. Target's spokeswoman Jenna Reck says that shoppers can price match by calling a Target.com customer service team. That's similar to what other rivals like Walmart asks online shoppers to do. "They have to get on the price-matching bandwagon," Mulpuru-Kodali said of Target. |

Speaking of price matching...I got Walmart today to do a bit of price matching for me... ![]() ![]() Walmart's policy however states that if they price match with another competitor on the online price, that the item has to be available and in stock for order, and not listed as "in stores only." When I initially showed the Target's online prices as I tried to make my purchases today, the manager explained this to me and asked if I could click on the item so they could check availability. Thankfully though, my local Walmart must have been built during the Cold War or something and have walls of lead, as my phone was unable to get any sort of reception at all at that exact moment. After a moment or two of the manager and cashier standing around waiting for the new page to load, the manager caved, telling the cashier to go ahead and ring up the $12.33 price, and even apologizing for the crappy service in the building, remarking that they have the same issue with their phones whenever they try and use them...heh. |

In spite of the 'collector casing' for the Joe and turtle figs (mind you, casing with no grading certificate - not that any of that stuff means jack to me...I collect loose), I'm leaning toward 'clueless' based on the hodgepodge of toys he/she has listed. Where do you think they acquired these items? I'm guessing storage auction...Unfortunately, if this person is a clueless opportunist, the jackpot they hit with the TMNT (heading toward $400) and the Joe (approaching $100) figs will only encourage them to double down on their efforts to find and resell old toys. The only credit I will give this seller is that, whomever they are, they are smart enough to start auctions at a penny...it's best to let the 'market' determine what something is worth when it seems like you don't know shit about what you are doing. @3233rafael I'm not going to re-quote that long post, but I do want to thank you for sharing that bit of good news. I would have overlooked that article, due to yahoo having my reading interests pegged as Politics/Crime/or Sports. In any event, I think that large 'brick & mortar' outlets competing with online retail benefits consumers (us) in the long run. Let them duke it out for our patronage, with the winner being those that can deliver what we want at the cheapest price. If this trend continues, I might actually forgo online shopping and join many other collectors in the 'hunt' at Walgreens/Walmart/Target/TRU. I actually did pick-up and pricematch two Hulk three pack sets here in the NY/NJ/CT tristate last Sunday. There was so much discussion on this thread that I made it a mission to track the set down. Obviously, I was successful lol |

I was able to snag a legends Widow from the Amazon pack for 20 bucks!
I may already own the select one, but I couldn't say no to a cheap widow.

Please don't bring up the 90's and the way 'pseudo-collectors' went about purchasing comics and toys, some of us are old enough to remember the good ole' bad days. However, as the saying goes, everything old is new again...and the get rich quick personality types are grabbing everything they think may end up worth money, despite having no interest or formalized knowledge in whatever it is they are buying.

I'd seen the article about Target price matching the other day, and it sounded great... hopefully their employees have seen the article too though! Seems like you can get several interpretations of price matching policies from different CSR reps within the same store, and it's a bad scene when your customers are more informed about your policies than your employees... =P
Oh, and quick mod tip for anyone interested! Finally picked up movie Ant-Man because of the Target discount, and if the screen inaccurate face bugs you like it did me, just cut the breather piece and straps from the head (carefully, so you don't damage them), strip the flesh colored paint off the head, cut his nose off, then reglue the breather and straps into the more movie accurate position (add some silver paint around the breather). A little sculpting can be added to make it look even more screen accurate, but even without it, the figure seems a lot more satisfying with the pieces slightly repositioned. |

It's new. Well, at least it was just posted on Yahoo news but I'd never heard that Target would price match other stores. You might be talking about the holiday season because it does say they would price match for that purpose only. |

I think what's new about the situation isn't that Target is getting into price matching just now, but rather the much bigger and open scale that they are going to start doing it at. I'm sure their in-store customer service desk personnel are stoked on this decision. =)
