I would be totally happy with Hasbro doing this legit. I'd prefer better face but it would still be absolutely acceptable. In fact that's what I plan to do with one of the extra SW I have, I just wonder now if I should hold off....

Is this based on any particular era Polaris costume? I'm not too familiar with all the looks she's had over the years...

I'm not exactly on board with that idea. While I think that fig makes for a fine custom, I also think we should expect a bit more from Hasbro at retail. Many of us have been grousing about the buck-abuse Hasbro has been engaging in; serving up what amounts to little more than repaints for quite a few figs. I was excited (if not totally enthused about the character himself) by the 'sculpt' on Scourge. Additionally, new tooling in the form of Taskmaster (immediate potential for a new Doom) is very encouraging. There has also been a recent trend of more expressive faces: Rhino, Grim Reaper, Tiger Shark, and the upcoming Cotton Mouth (a slight grin may seem marginal, but at least they are attempting add personality). We're even seeing the introduction of the occasional new-buck. The Kraven buck lay somewhere between the Panther and Hyperion-buck, and I'm pretty certain Namor and Venom will be on this body. What I'm really getting at here is that it seems that Hasbro is actually responding (in real time) to fans. Whatever you believe about the 'embargo' (mind you the appearance X-figs doesn't mean that there wasn't a protocol of "hands-off" in place - but I won't start up new arguments here lol), continual fan pressure is what delivered this X-wave. What else can be won with constructive criticism? However, it's important to keep in mind that there is a difference between constructive criticism and storming Hasbro's ramparts with torches and pitchforks (which only serves to turn ears 'off'). Now that we have their attention, let's try to hold it for as long as possible. Let's expect a little more... |

While we're talking about new figures we'd LIKE to see i'd like a few of the ones they recently made into variant covers for all the new #1 issues marvel released this past 2 weeks.
Maestro Thing with GOTG suit Venom Space knight version. List can go on, but im ready for some new legends.... only one i haven't gotten yet is the new walgreens DD. just havent found him around my parts yet. |

The Toy Biz Apocalypse is awesome, but it came out more than a decade ago (2004) and wasn't easy to find on-shelves even when it first came out.
I really don't think "Well some other company made a good figure ten years ago" is going to factor into Hasbro's thinking. He's long overdue for a refresh. |

I think it does factor in. Unless the new one is completely different, (not sure how it could be since they aren't doing Movie stuff)I'm not buying a new Apocalypse. I bet a bunch of people feel that way. With the costs of these waves and how much it costs Hasbro to make these you think they want to gamble on it? It may have been hard to get when it came out but you can get the Purple one for fairly cheap now and even the Black variant has dropped a bunch. They should be thinking about the consumers when making these BAF figures.
Now, we could theoretically spend secondhand market prices to just get the ToyBiz figure, but even considering price drops on the secondhand market and the size of the figure itself, it's still a lot of money to shell out on just one figure. In that regard, it's more attractive to somebody that doesn't already own Apocalypse to spend a little bit more money, get 5-6 MORE figures and get a BAF Apocalypse. At least, that makes sense to me. I could see skipping out on the wave and just buying the BAF if it happened to be one of those scenarios where you're only buying the wave for the BAF and don't care about any of the other figures. But if they're putting a Jim Lee Rogue in the next X-Men Wave, I would imagine this wave is going to contain a lot of other fan-requested characters as well. I would like a new Apocalypse in a normal figure or current BAF scale. I know ToyBiz made a smaller one but I didn't love that design. Old BAF Design at like 8-9" would be rad. Would probably sell my big one then.

The Toy Biz BAF's are bigger and more detailed than what Hasbro is likely to put out nowadays. That should probably factor in for someone waffling between what to buy if they want a BAF of a character. I bought the Galactus and Giant-Man BAF's way after their release on the secondary market and never regretted it since I know Hasbro wouldn't put in the same kind of effort on them (still working on getting a sentinel though). No knock against Hasbro, but at least you know you'll likely be getting a superior figure if you buy the older BAF's on the secondary instead of sitting around hoping for a new one.

i can see quite a few of these characters getting figures redone.... i was thinking a few months back the only way to get a Scarlet spider ( ben reilly with hoodie) and a Sensational spider-man figure as they call it now ( again ben reilly with altered spider suit) figures was to go and pay the high dollar prices for the ones on feebay. low and behold hasbro has decided to bring them both out this time around under their brand. im happy as a pig in sh!t lol
Mind all of you those particular ones came out how many years ago and are currently on ebay for lowest price of what $60 bucks or so for something that was originally priced at $15 to $20??? So i think there should be a possibility for moon knight, galactus, sentinels, apocalypse etc to be remade sooner then later. |

I ended up buying it for $120 yep I know it's a bit much but oh well at least I'll have a Blade figure. Just going to put it on a Nick Fury body and call it day. I may see what other bodies will work for it as well. Also got the Phoenix Cyclops head too, that one I just couldn't pass up.

None taken lol and it's a gamble I decided to take so there's a 50-50 chance he'll get released or he won't. If he does oh well, I only spent $120 so it's fine. It's not like I spent around $1000 for it or anything. I saw my opportunity to take a chance buying the prototype head and I took it.

Seeing that you paid close to Hot Toys prices for the piece though, I can completely understand if you don't want to chance losing it... |

Although if you didn't or were apprehensive considering the money you paid, I could understand, but have you thought of working a deal and submitting it to the various casting sites out there so that a proper cast of the head could be made and thus, become available to other customizers out there? (As opposed to the upscaled and inferior versions of the Marvel Universe heads already out there.)

I have never been a fan of the ML version, even at the time. It took me a while to get the MS version, but in hand, the guy is incredible IMHO. All the articulation I want, huge, heavy, and lots of great detail and paint aps. I can't think of anything I'd want from a BAF that the MS doesn't already do. Quote:
1. 4-pack AoU Thor 2. BAF King Thor 3. Mark 43 Iron Man 4. Target Ultron 5. Captain Marvel 6. Doc Green/Indestructible Hulk 7. Kraven 8. AoU Hawkeye 9. Agent Coulson 10. White Vision As for who I'd like to see, it's probably safe to say an Enchantress is coming from Scarlet Witch, the next Thor wave will hopefully have a Sif. Beyond that, I'd like to see a black costume Magneto. |

I feel the same way. I really liked the BAF mold that they did (I don't recall offhand which was first, the Sentinel or Apocalypse, but there were among my first big BAFs that I actually completed), but I didn't care much for the regular version of Apocalypse (Which I had to resort to eBay back in the day to get because I couldn't find him in stores). A new mold around AoU Hulk size would be appreciated.
I'm not one to dismiss anyone's wants, especially since my own tastes aren't always in the mainstream either, but I have the ML version and somewhat recently I got the MS version. I have never been a fan of the ML version, even at the time. It took me a while to get the MS version, but in hand, the guy is incredible IMHO. Now that we have their attention, let's try to hold it for as long as possible. Let's expect a little more... Hasbro has thoroughly impressed me with the Absorbing Man and Onslaught waves. It seems like they are expanding past the repaint/new headsculpt that we have been seeing on most figures these past few years. Beetle has a new female hand sculpt and hip detail, Mockingbird has a new mid sculpt, forearm detail AND sculpted boots, and Venom, Cap and Gwen have alternate heads. Hopefully we'll get to see more emotive heads, as while you've pointed out BM that the villainous heads are looking brilliant, now we just need some angry/battle face variants for the heroes. Nothing says static more than a neutral expression! Hasbro has been making leaps and bounds with their BAFs in the last two years, so let's hope they begin giving us more bang for our buck on the regular figures. Rogue and the two 2016 waves seem to be pointing in the right direction for sure. |

I can't say for sure. The thing to keep in mind about Apocalypse is that he's one of the most popular X-Men characters there is and the movie is coming out next year. I'm also sure Hasbro wouldn't just straight up copy the old Apocalypse. There might be features on the new one that people may prefer over the old one. Can't really say too much without actually knowing what's in store.

Would ML collectors rather have a new Sauron BAF with the ability to go back and get an older APOC BAF OR a new Apoc BAF that could easily be just a larger figure in the wave? AND still no Sauron, Strong GUy, Sugarman, Nimrod or something new people are dying for.
Also not sure if you guys read that Hasbro is trying to make bigger BAFs in the upcoming waves, more like Hulkbuster size and bigger. So that's why I say a 12" Apoc would be pointless. but if someone didn't have those characters already I can see why they would want them. but it doesn't negate the fact that it would be a letdown for me. |
