I am going to laugh if this set makes it to $20 or below. At that point it becomes an easy purchase for a second set just to have in case I ever want pieces for something. I am really curious if Amazon is having trouble moving the set which is the reason for the drastic price drop. |

Just pulled the trigger on it. It was down to $37.08. For that price it's less than two regular Legends. I cracked up earlier when I saw someone selling the Widow from the set for $25 on Ebay.

That select widow though, that figure was on point.

Lol Yeah, Lobo is one of those characters that is hard to take seriously, but I think that's exactly what Keith Giffen wanted when he created him. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Lobo was intended to poke fun at Wolverine. A spoof of Logan by making a bigger stronger version that hailed from outer space. The fact that Lobo is rarely ever written in somber tones, seemed to set him up well with the GotG another tongue in cheek team of characters. At the end of the day, Lobo might be a joke, but he's one insanely powerful punchline!....as the Guardians are finding out!

Yeah, I saw some pis of the new 'emo' Lobo. Not a good look at all. Initially, it struck me in much the same manner that the redraft of Ghost Rider did. Unnecessary and blatantly trendy. The exception being that the reboot of Ghost Rider is actually growing on me and I think it might stick ...I'm happy to hear that Lobo's experiment is over.

On the subject of Carol's strength, I have to admit that Marvel never seems to do well on that front with female characters. Notice how, out of all the Marvel powerhouses, both in strength and intelligence, none are women? I always found that odd. There is not a single female intellectual worthy of, say, The Illuminati. Even Kitty Pryde, who could be one, is played as a regular joe compared to Beast. Possibly Valeria Richards in a few years? Anywho! I digress, yes Carol is not super strong. She's more Thing-levels of strength, not Hulk or Thor. I guess that's what makes her more relatable? |

A-har, glad to hear that you're enjoying the new Herc! Are you picking up The Ultimates? Very cool team with a nice mandate, and Al Ewing writes Blue Marvel and Rambeau pretty well.

Storm and Namora could be Illuminati...and if Angela ever gets accepted by Marvel fans, she could be that super-woman character. Your point about female intellectual powerhouses is eyeopening. I can't think of any heralded female hero that is celebrated as a standout mind (Marvel or DC)...even the characters known for mind powers (Jean, Emma, Moondragon, Mantis etc), somehow don't rise to that level of "superior intellect." Pretty sad... |

lol "Tomax and Xamot" see...that's why you are better at jokes than me!
@Von I forgot about Strontian...she's a powerhouse...I also forgot about Nova, but just like in the story Chuck brings up, she was always written as the 'damsel in distress' of the heralds. Marvel's women have strong personalities and are written thoughtfully, but there are too few actual 'kickass' femmes. We need more than just Dark Phoenix and Wanda on a bender. @Kirathis I snapped a couple of pics last night to affirm that you made the right decision grabbing that 4 pack on the cheap... ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 12-23-2015 at 02:37 PM.. |

Then of course Death, Mistress Love, Aegis, Infinity, and technically one celestial are female. Those were cosmic entities though so they're too easy to just label as powerhouses.

All this talk of the lack of female intellectual powerhouses in Marvel (well, female powerhouses in general) really makes me want to see someone do a take on Viper as an intellectual schemer who could give the Illuminati the run-around.

Oh son of a... BBTS has my Spider-Man wave order awaiting payment. I thought this wasn't supposed to be out until the Spring? Either way, I'm not going to be able to make my payment until next week.

Nice, thanks for the shots. My set should be here tomorrow. Hopefully it shows up and I can pick it up before my UPS Store closes at noon. |

Yeah, Wonder Woman was always as powerful as Supes (and considered a better fighter by many). They even promoted her from demigod (Herc/Eternals/Thanos-Titans) status, to that of a god (Odin/Asgardians, Zeus/Olympians etc). Marvel doesn't seem to have anywhere near the same amount of ultra powerful females.
I always thought Monica would be that powerhouse. Then there are the Shulks. Binary was strong, but they never let that story take hold. I hear what you're saying about the women for sure, I just read Heralds and that team was made up of Emma, She-Hulk, Valkyrie, Photon, Sue and Hellcat out to save/recruit Nova (Frankie Raye) and had assist from Abagail Brand… and they felt like a dumbed down version. That said, I feel like there are some women who are definitely deserving of entering the illuminati.
Man... I miss Sage. Viper and Mystique could be on par with Doctor Doom in terms of magnificent schemes if given a chance. I liked Raven ruling Madripoor in All-New, but Bendis didn't take it anywhere.. Last edited by VonPooten; 12-23-2015 at 06:05 PM.. |

Whew, good thing I grabbed the Venom revision case. That one doesn't drop for another few weeks thankfully. I don't mind the extra wait, especially since most of my pre-orders have dropped over the course of these last two weeks.

@spidey
Haha! Thanks! I don't really care for movie figs and only really wanted Bruce, initially. Now, having the whole assortment, I'm very glad I got them all. Hawkeye has limited articulation in his lower legs with no shin swivel, so that's a slight drawback. The sculpts are pretty detailed and, when I think of other movie figs like Star-Lord, I can't help but feel that the comic based figs are getting the shaft in the detail department. The other thing that caught my attention was that this Thor finally gets his height and girth proportionately in scale with other figs. I feel it nails how tall and big Thor should be in proportion with other Legends. |
