Ah man Nitelife, you slay me. Godzilla facepalm is the best.

Any hints at what could be the SDCC set this year? I made a pretty dead on guess last year. I'm thinking that Abomination figure might come into play (if he isn't a BAF for an as of yet to be fully confirmed wave). I think it would be cool if they did and Apocalypse and the 4 horsemen set. I'd be pissed that it's an exclusive, but it'd be cool.

yeah it's about that time things should start showing up as to what it is isn't it. I got nothing. I am of course always HOPING for a New Mutants/Classic Thunderbolts/Alpha Flight Box set but well....realistically nothing that I can guess.

A Four Horsemen set would be great. Are you meaning from like the actual XM: A movie or some other version? A classic first appearance four horsemen would be amazing. Also I know this will never happen but there was one issue a few years back that showed what was supposed to be Apocalypse's first four horsemen, that I'd probably give up a pinky finger to get.

You mean the Four Horsemen who popped up in Uncanny X-Force? Decimus Furius/War, Ichisumi/Pestilence, Jeb Lee/Famine, and Sanjar Javeed/Death? Those would be pretty fantastic, but honestly I'd be more onboard for the classic lineup (Archangel, Autumn Rolfson, Abraham Lincoln Kieros, and Plague) and a more X-Factor-era (IE smoother armor and design, similar to Red Skull Onslaught's body) Apocalypse.

Nope, that was the final horsemen. I'm talking about the ones that showed up for like a panel or page in I think it was Uncanny Avengers. I will try to find a picture of that. Even though I know it will never happen they were the most badass designed horsemen. If we get one though I'm sure it will be the classic FA ones though. Which would be great in my book.

Okay found one picture, there were better scans. I just really liked what I saw, though I don't think you can really make heads or tails of it from this picture.

That would be an awesome set to get, I can see that being a SDCC set...

There have been so many version of the Horsemen that I don't even have a proper answer. Maybe old school original, death mask Archangel and the other 3.
Or go full on crazy and have War Hulk, Death Gambit, whatever Polaris was, and throw in a 4th guy.

As long as it's not the funky version from The Twelve storyarc.

Wolverine/Death, Deathbird/War, Caliban/Pestilence, and Rory Campbell/Ahab/Famine. Gah.

I would not mind the Wolverine/Death figure. ANd if that is how we got a Deathbird figure I'd be okay with that. Also, I'm just going to put this out right here. No on the Blood of Apocalypse horsemen. I'll be damned if that's how we get a Polaris. And the R.A. Salvatore inspired Gambit....no. just no.

Byrnes, IF I am sitting in front of my computer on the day they go on sale, and you can pay as soon as I get one, yeah man.
I think Hasbro has a limit of 2 per basket. We'll talk as this gets closer.

It's true about there being a maximum height for that, I was reading the science behind that somewhere online a couple years ago. Basically, our size only works because our weight is under the max per square inch that our muscles can hold up (which is why elephants are built the way they are, and whales need to live in the ocean). The bigger a land animal gets, the more weight per square inch we need to have denser muscles to hold up, which makes our muscles heavier, which spirals that ratio out of control after a few feet above our current max height (the tallest humans ever have been around 8').

That doesn't invalidate the argument that we should have gotten a 14" tall BAF though ;^) But it does kinda kill the Giant-Man idea in Marvel Comics lol.

Just putting it out there (I am not going to SDCC this year as far as I know), but if anyone wants a portion of an SDCC set but not the other figures, and I want one or more of the ones you don't want, I would be willing to split a set based on how many figures there are.

So, for instance, there's 5 figures, you want 2 out of the 3 I don't care about, I want one out of the other 2 badly, I would split it 2/5 to me and 3/5 to you, in order to get the one figure I want badly plus the other figure I sort of want. Meaning I'd pay 2/5 the total price and you'd pay 3/5.

This also works if I only want 1 figure and others also only want 1 figure, a set could be split between several people.

If I was able to snag one on the site as they come out, I'd be willing to ship to each of you who chipped in. Or someone else could. We can hash that out before they come out.

I know but...this is around the point in the year where we generally get some kind of news. Here is hoping soon.

Oh I did have another thought that it may well be the ANAD Marvel characters. We haven't gotten anything out of that except Miles and Falcap (though he's a little before ANAD I still lump him in with that.) I could easily see it being a Ms. Marvel, She-Thor, Falcap, Nova...or there's the new Wasp, X-23verine, Old Man Logan (though they may not wish to do X-figures), Cho Hulk....there's likely more as well but there's a bit to choose from.

@Nash

Just being a grumpy bastard...I'm also curious to know what's going on...my guess/hope is that Angela will be involved somehow...

I grabbed two extra Iron Fist figs for the 'helluvit. Twelve bucks with shipping included on a lark for shits'n'giggles...While I posed up my original Danny for pics some time ago, it wasn't until recently that I explored the range on this figure in earnest:

Nothing fancy, just a check for dynamic potential. I was struck by how well this mold holds up against the competition (newer Marvel Legends). This figure mold (I believe Bullseye or Havok marked its debut) has seen a great deal of action between both Toy Biz and Hasbro. I know people have developed an aversion for "ball-joint" hips, but there isn't a "new" Legend capable of hitting some of these postures...Pizza Spidey comes close, but even that mold falls short in aspects. The long and short of my latest ramblings? I dig this fig! I'm glad Hasbro kept this mold in the wheelhouse. While not every use of the mold was a winner, its re-appropriation for Dan-dawg was tops in my book. That said, I'm still miffed as to the whys and wherefores regarding the decision to eliminate shin articulation...

I've been a fan of this sculpt, although not all the POA in all iterations of it, since it debuted with Bullseye. While I don't want them to use calf swivels (unnecessary/unrealistic for human range of movement and I prefer they expend money on other things) and I hate the 45-degree range hips it has, I do love the combination of the Bullseye upper body and the new Hasbro lower legs/feet. I would have loved to see the Pizza Spidey pelvis downward, but with fixed range in the hips, married to the Bullseye waist upwards going forward from the time of Pizza Spidey's debut. Hopefully in the future they'll do more along the lines of this with some of the more slim characters.

I'm a big fan of that Bullseye as well!

I understand your points about articulation, but I also believe the common notion that some toy articulation is "unrealistic" to be a bit off the mark. The spectrum of human flexibility is quite wide and many people (not me lol *sad tear*) can nearly abduct their hips at 45 degree angles (provided we are talking about the same thing: doing a split). I feel you on the calf swivel, but even with that particular anatomical movement, it's common to find people with greater ranges of eversion in their feet. Obviously, few figures have functioning skeletons. Thigh and shin swivels may not behave like muscles and bones working in conjunction, but they allow for more accurate approximations of human ambulation and dynamic motion.

Some people are all about the aesthetics, while others lean toward articulation. While "how a figure looks" is important to me, I'm a "pose-guy" at heart. Any Point Of Articulation that helps me achieve a more natural looking stance is greatly appreciated...save a POA that egregiously compromises the overal presentation of a figure.

Oh that would be so creepy to have one day. A toy with a working articulated skeletal system with some kind of material covering it simulating the physical effect of tissue. Like your own personal tiny corpse with adjustable rigor mortis. It would look phenomenally seamless yet have all the available range of motion afforded to the most flexible/pain-resistant of people. Dynamic poses and clean appearances all at once but with the weirdness of feeling like a tiny dead person, and one day it could happen... in the FUTURE!!!

You misunderstood. 45 degree articulation in the hips is referencing the fact that they are set into the pelvis at a 45 degree angle. This is a reference to the lower quality articulation in Bullseye's hips rather than the higher quality articulation found in the higher quality Toy Biz figures that came out before Bullseye.

For instance, the base figure that TBML5 Silver Surfer was made from has 90-degree sphere hips, meaning that the spheres on Surfer are set into the pelvis at a 90-degree angle, which allow easier posing and better range than the 45-degree sphere joints do.

I've been trying to explain to people for years now that that is the future of action figures.

Damn...I'm having real problems with my photo-host

@Squeeze
I did misunderstand and I'm still uncertain about exactly what you are explaining even with the benefit of clarification. I think I understand in part; I'm aware that Surfer has incredible range (I've been messing around with a test-shot I have) in comparison to most TBML. However, the angles of insertion and type of hinge used represents "Greek" to me since I've never taken one of these things apart. I'll take a closer look to see what you've shared.

@En Sabah & @Squeeze
A favorite toy of mine as a very young child was a rubber-bendy Godzilla figure. The rubber covered a fairly strong* (child perspective/old-guy memory) metal wire. As a young Kaiju fan, I loved that thing (I'm sure you can appreciate,En Sabah) and owned more than one due to my first one suffering the injury of the wire breaking through the rubber. Due in large part to constant play.

More recently, Fewture made a line of Mazinger dicast 10" figs that were highly articulated. I owned the Garada fig which boasted of some sort of skeleton that the articulation revolved around.

I think a working skeleton is in the near future for high-end action figures. Ready for your homunculus, En Sabah?

I think I understand in part; I'm aware that Surfer has incredible range (I've been messing around with a test-shot I have) in comparison to most TBML. However, the angles of insertion and type of hinge used represents "Greek" to me since I've never taken one of these things apart. I'll take a closer look to see what you've shared.
Let me try to explain better.

Take a Bullseye style figure and put him standing up. Draw an imaginary line vertically from the top of his pelvis to the bottom, just left of his "penis" area. Now, draw an identical line on the other side just to the right of the penis area. So you have 2 parallel lines in front of his pelvis with the center of the pelvis between them.

Now, draw another line, starting on the outside of the dual line on the left, from the inside of the hollows where the hip-spheres sit in the pelvis, going downward and 45-degrees diagonally down and away from him, about 1 inch. Do the same with the right side.

See the angle? That is how the hip-sphere-posts are set in the holes in the pelvis of Bullseye.

Now, starting inside the hollows for the hip spheres, draw imaginary 1 inch lines from the vertical lines outward away from the figure, the same as before, except this time, don't draw them at 45-degrees downward, draw them perfectly horizontal so that they are 90-degrees in relation to the vertical lines. That is how the GOOD articulation is for figures with spherical hips. That is why the hips in Bullseye and like 100 other figures in ML suck compared to the hips in 100 other different figures with 90-degree hips.

Also, I forgot that I hate the way the Bullseye neck leans forward so much. So I guess what's I'm looking for is more like the full Pizza Spidey mold but with a broader chest, similar to Bullseye. I should have restated that earlier...
