Agree, saw a Rogue in a store not so long ago (that was my first extra). Have also seen Wolverine once. Cable twice. Everyone else except Deadpool multiple times, nada on Deadpool.
Have seen nothing of Space Venom wave or Abomination wave. And Brick and Mortar wonders why we don't buy from them as much as they'd like - those of us who preorder online get them 2-3 months before retail it seems. |

After weeks of checking, one of my local Walmarts finally got the Space Venom wave in. Of course however, it must've gone out between my trips because all they had left were Peter and Miles. Went ahead and picked up Peter, but I'm pretty bummed I missed out of Hobgoblin. He's the only other figure from the wave I'm planning on purchasing.

Yeah, I have literally run into Rogue 4 out of the last 5 or 6 trips I have been out. Wolverine, only once since the wave dropped, and Deadpool a whopping zero. Thank goodness I just ended up picking up the entire wave when I did.
Truth be told, the Space Venom wave has been even tougher, all I have seen thus far was a lone Ashley Barton (of course...who else would it be) and that's about it. Finding another Silk for custom fodder is going to be next to impossible I'm fearing. |

Picked up the Target War Machine/Disco Armor 2-pack. I have pretty much no opinion on the Disco Armor. I mean, it's fine for what it is but I don't even think people that like their Iron-Man armor collection would be too excited over this piece.
The War Machine however, is fantastic. I love the sort of dark-grey sparkly paint and silver they use and I LOVE the bulk of the figure. I have no problem attaching his accessories into his back, if you really push them in, friction does a decent job of keeping them in place. My only real complaint is the head sits a little odd on the body. Makes him look like he has no neck. This problem is easily remedied by taking off the head and not putting it all the way on the ball joint. You can add some blu-tack or some other type of putty to make it a more secure fit, and it makes the proportions of the figure much, much better (I may show some pictures tomorrow). One thing I like about Iron-Man figures is that in the comic books, Iron-Man suits already look high-tech and practical, so the movie figures still fit in quite well with the comic book figures. I may use this War Machine as a modern comic book figure. |

yeah...THAT exactly. Knowing how i love these figure from these waves...i would be SUPER FRUSTRATED right now for KNOWING so many figures are out and i couldn't find them. I'm still amazed i've NEVER seen a Nick Fury figure on a shelf/peg. Only saw BP the one time. I've still yet to see Winter Soldier or Falcon. From the Space Venom wave I've only ever seen ONE figure (i think it was one of the girls) out and never any others. Abomination wave I've never seen any figures either. Id be missing like 14 figures and going nuts over it. Online ordering and Arkers help fill out the rest. Quote:

I agree with everyone that creating individual characters is a better way forward in the long run, but for the current market legacy characters are financially more viable options of diversifying their cast. New titles don't last long due to oversaturation of the market. Nighthawk just got cancelled, She-Hulk got cancelled, X-23 got cancelled, Gambit got cancelled, and Hellcat, Drax and Mockingbird are all in danger of getting cancelled. Even Scarlet Witch, an extremely well-known character, has a badly selling book which will inevitably be cancelled soon. The Mighty Thor, however, is selling really well. Same as Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man. It makes sense that Marvel are attempting to recreate that formula. Using well-known brands guarantees a longevity that can't really be questioned (unless it's Ghost Rider, which also got cancelled). From a business perspective, legacy characters are doing very well, and Marvel is a business. Creatively? Your mileage is varying, with some loving them, and others hating them due to their principles, but given a chance, a few of the titles are really well written. Speaking of legacy... ![]() |

Well while Deadpool was "cloned" off of the idea of Deathstroke he was to marvel a new character. as far as titles getting nixed, lots of those are characters ( like hellcat x-23 nighthawk ) arent strong enough to carry their own titles as opposed to being more well recieved in their team books. She-hulk is getting rebranded into " hulk" so while the title is canceled the book story itself is continuing ( kind what idw did eith transformers rid transition into lost light). Today though if comics arent instant sellouts they get canned. I get and understand comic companies turning characters into legacies but it doesnt mean i have to like it support it or agree with it. It also doesnt mean todays " creative teams " arent just being lazy for laziness sake either.

![]() Now i will say i love that shot ya did. Whered ya get that marvel girl statue piece? Right now though, they're losing loyal fans with revamp after revamp and status-quo change after status-quo change. Truthfully I think the only difference between myself and those who aren't a fan of these diverse legacy characters (yourself included Nite, but obviously I'm not targetting you, just speaking with you), is that I'm alright having a look at any series, and if they take my fancy and I can afford it, I'll buy it. If Thor happens to be Jane Foster in it, or Logan is an older, alternative one, that's fine with me! On the opposite side, if someone doesn't like that, that's cool too, because it'll probably change in five years' time. Oh and thanks! The Jean Grey statue is a custom using the old Hasbro Marvel Girl figure. |

Oh no, you have every right not to like any character! I didn't mean that, I was just explaining that, to Marvel, legacy characters are currently outlasting original characters' series who may have existed up to 40 years before this. The main problem is probably Perlmutter's obsession with profit (which is his job, I guess) - the sooner Marvel stands by their series and keeps them going even if they aren't doing well sales wise yet have a cult following, they'll earn fans' respect back.

It just feels like nothing is being made for longevity that its just a crash n burn scenario...ie bilk it for all its worth then dump it, retcon it and slap a new coat of paint over a rusty body to make it seem new. I guess im just old and cynnical wanting new original stuff ( to whatever particular company ) instead of just draping a cover over an old couch and calling it new. ![]()

Those two titles exposed me to a wider Marvel Universe; characters and concepts like Deatlok, Quasar, Jack of Hearts, Black Goliath, Aquarius and Project Pegasus. They have to get out of their comfort zone because abusing Legacy is only going to get them but so far... |

Everyone seems to love those bootlegs, am I the only one that doesn't? It's a good likeness for Jeremy Renner and they deserve some credit for giving Black Widow double elbows but Hulk looks like a washed up ex-Hulk starting to go to seed, Vision looks like a cosplay by a middle aged banker and something just seems off about Iron Man and War Machine. Something in the proportions.

i (sometimes prematurely) criticize figs when i see previews of them. But in hand they are usually better. I wasn't keen on these when i first saw them...then i read...and saw enough reviews of them to go ahead and give them a shot. So to boost my collection, add a few figs i didn't have, ..add a variation or two...meh.. I've paid more for ONE figure than i did for all of these combined. The price was great...and i'm REALLY content with my purchase. Quote:
circa 1996 i had an mp3 of Return of the Mack by Mark Morrison circa 1999 i had a Tag Heuer watch that for some reason stopped working after a year circa 2005 i watched a movie that someone purchased in a barbershop of a feature film that was still in theaters. circa 2016 i purchased some, what i thought to be Marvel Legends figs from the internets. It said it was from China..and toys are made in China so i figured...ya know. I'm fairly certain there'll be more circas.....from time to time.. I haven't actually had time to stand them next to any of my other figures I own. I'll TRY to get some pics asap to at least do size comparisons.....they don't FEEL, in hand, any bigger than normal Legends figs. I wanna try a Scar Jo head swap too.. Another figure i thought was trash...i thought to myself. WHOSE IDEA WAS IT...of all the armors they could have chosen, to go with that crap. Fast forward and...I'm actually liking that figure in my collection. I'm beginning to like the little oddball figs.

Edit: Nice find, DTL! How are you finding the Hawkeye and Black Widow figures? Those are the only two I'd be interesting in, but they look pretty nice. Is the plastic good quality?

It smells less like interest in characters, and more like self promotion. Perhaps that's why I like Jason Aaron on Thor? He's been there 4 years and isn't showing any signs of leaving. ![]() Quote:
Nice pic! Is that a legacy, and if so, which one; Jean Grey/Marvel Girl or Phoenix? With Jean, many of those characters are time-slipped personas (granted I don't know much about these young original X-men). However, in my opinion, Rachel IS actually a different person. I do accept the Phoenix as a legacy. There's been a long history of characters that were hosts, or were familiar with other hosts of the Phoenix Force entity: Necron, Krovus, Rachel, Cyclops, etc.
So yes it is teen Jean witnessing her own legacy, from the All-New X-Men title. The premise was probably one of Bendis' best ideas with wonderful potential, but the kids should have gone back to the past by now, lest they become annoying to readers. Quote:

Though yes, if a tremendously popular (or once popular should I say) character like Gambit can't keep his own series afloat, you know there's poor demand. They even put Mark Waid and Chris Samnee on Black Widow with a brilliant opening arc, and no-one's paying attention to that, either. Everybody is burned out, it seems. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a super set up of Enchantress versus Thor or Doctor Strange, mate. Just saying..... ![]() Last edited by VonPooten; 09-24-2016 at 09:19 AM.. |

I haven't really had much time with them. but my initial thoughts were that they are fine. I was way more pleased with them, then I PREPARED myself to be. The plastic is fine...truthfully..i've had several Licensed Legends figs that I've had more issues with than these.
