Byrne's issues are some of my favorites and he's a really good artist.

As for what characters I'm interested in, X-Men and Wolverine (dislike Old Man Logan intensely though). I also like Batman (a lot), Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Spiderman. Maybe Black Panther and Iron Man, but not sure.

How I acquire them is a good question. I know very little about how to get old comics. Not familiar with digital at all.

Don't they sometimes compile famous comics into a graphic novel? Like, I think Hush was originally comics, wasn't it?

Also, is a trade paperback a specific type of phyiscal comic?

That seems almost possible, though the wings would maybe be just too thick to stack over each other and still leave room for the figure without him being pressed up against the bubble. Of course then there would be no BAF part and the helmet head could fit into a corner. If they had done it that way it would probably still have been a store exclusive like the MCU Falcon.

For Moon Knight volume 7 issues 1 through 6 are a pretty great read if you already know the character decently, there is no refresher but each issue is its own story so there's no running plot you need to be familiar with. Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey did some great work there. The rest of volume 7 is also really good but I know that I've seen issues 1-6 collected into one TPB and it's an excellent taste to see if you wanna go the rest of the way. If you're already a giant Moon Knight fan like me then volume 8 by Jeff Lemire and Greg Smallwood is a very interesting and trippy read. However you need to know your stuff going in as there is no hand-holding here and it takes full use of the schizophrenic angle.

Going digital is probably the easiest way to get the old stuff since you can quickly search it up if they have it. Now if you don't like reading digital then there are usually TPB collections of these older iconic stories but they kind of need to be iconic or well loved to even get a TPB, otherwise you just have to find an omnibus which has the content you want.

A trade paper back (TPB) is when a company collectively releases multiple issues into one book typically making an entire story available at once for easy reading (as opposed to having to find all separate issues). Technically they are not graphic novels but they do tend to read like them since it's one whole story. TPBs can range from anywhere like 3 to 10 issues or even more (though more than 10 usually is just a collected volume). Batman: Hush is technically not a graphic novel (except that it's an illustrated story) it is a TPB collection of separate issues which were all a part of the Hush story. Many collected stories are often later mislabeled as graphic novels because more people will be familiar with the TPB over the stack of separate issues. It's not entirely wrong to call them that but they weren't released as one super long comic and usually "graphic novel" means that it's released as one long story at once to begin with.

My Homemade Spidey and Old Man Logan came in today. I think I'm more pleased with OML, which I did not expect. I originally bought him to customize into my own version of a Hugh Jackman Wolverine, but now I think I'll have to buy another one to do that. He just looks way better in person.

Homemade Spidey suffers from plainness. He is in desperate need of a paint wash. The other thing that bugs me that I figured would is his goggles, they chose to paint it squinting, making them look really weird....like he's angry. I'm going to try to add more white paint at some point to make them completely open. I think I will enjoy him a lot more when I do that.

Also, the Vulture wing piece. It still looks cheap, but it actually feels much nicer than I thought it would. For this reason, I will collect all the pieces.

Ross stores have been stocking the Giant Man Civil War wave, so if anyone missed out, you can snag them there for $7. Grabbed a Red Guardian despite no intention of owning the figure originally. Only seen him and Civil War Cap thus far, but the rest may be lurking.

If you recall the Phil urich hobgoblin they could have easily placed the wings behind the figure as a BAF piece. Maybe the wings might have to had been a tad smaller. Not sure....

His wings are tiny compared to Vulture's. Like I said they maybe could have fit Vulture's wings into a single box behind him if there was no BAF piece or just a small one but it would be a tight fit.

It was an international-exclusive wave collecting figures from the first two Avengers movies. They're doing another one for all the Civil War figures (sans Spider-Man of course) with Giant-Man as the BAF.

I only heard of this wave a few months ago myself. Basically it was only in the UK (maybe Europe too) as an apology for the Walmart Exclusive Avengers series not being released there when they came out.

What sucks for us though is that they corrected the red color for Hulkbuster, so overseas customers got a much better version. But they had to wait years to get these figures so it's a trade off.

ive noticed on the boards that people get figures from Ross and Gamestops, here in Miami that doesnt exist. you go to ross and its just clothes and in Gamestop, they might have acouple of pops but thats it.

For X-Men, there is the Claremont run (1970s-1990s) that I previously mentioned. For more modern X-Men comics, you could try Grant Morrison's New X-Men (the first couple TPBs at least) and Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men. Not sure what to tell you about Wolverine as I don't really read his solo comics.

Spiderman can be a little tougher when looking at the older issues. Older comics from the 1960s can be hard to read (boring, weird, lame, disproven science, etc.) so you may want to read a couple of issues before purchasing anything. Spiderman's early issues are better than some but they're still from the 1960s. You may want to look for origin stories for your favorite villains. Same applies to the 70s and 80s. Comixology runs sales every week. Marvel sales are on Mondays and Friday but they may go through the week or the weekend if a MCU movie or Netflix series is about to come out. Starting on Tuesdays they'll pick a different publisher and run that sale through the week.

Yeah, I may want to read a few from the 60's, but it's honestly hard because until the 80's, art in comics just wasn't very good. Stuff from the 60's is hard for my eyes to stomach, and of course the writing is sometimes atrocious.

The other day, my two pack Vulture arrived in the mail, and I honestly must say that I'm quite impressed with the figure, and he may just actually be my favorite figure of the year thus far. The wings on this guy are what make the figure great, as they are well sculpted, using a silver iridescent style plastic with a nice coat of metallic green to compliment them. They plug in perfectly in the back, and I can honestly see these being used for a future Archangel update in the future, as the "feathers" on them look ominous and razor sharp.

The body of the figure is a kitbash of several others, with some newly sculpted details, which work great for this version of the character. The helmet that the animated series version of the character wears is a nice touch, and has actually become my preferred look for this guy, but the original headsculpt is pretty decent, transferring just the right amount of menace and psychosis in the smile.



About the only thing I can complain about is that once pegged in, the wings are stationary, so it would have been nice if they had some sort of articulation. Truthfully though, I kind of like that they AREN'T articulated as well, since this means that they will always stay put when posing this guy (who actually balances quite well despite the extra weight on his back.) Another, more minor issue is that both heads sit a little high on the neck...you can actually see where the ball peg is if you look closely enough at it. It's an easy mod to fix it, but you might end up hurting the articulation on the neck if you do, so despite it's high position, I don't mind it, as it allows this figure to perfectly look up or down as he scans the area for his target.

2013 was a gold redeco of the Ultron that came out in the Iron Man 3 wave of that year:



2014/2015 (?) was Rocket Raccoon (a repaint of the one that was a build-a-figure in 2013, I believe, but with white striping on the outfit instead of red):
