Yep I hear you. But at least the sculpts are usually great with Hasbro. But with this Homemade fig, the arms aren't even proportional to the torso, the knee joint isn't in the middle of the leg like it should be (it's more on the calf), the calves are like isosceles triangles, and the head just looks really bad. It looks like a guy wearing some kind of weird sex dungeon latex mask and then slapped some goggles over it. It doesn't resemble cloth at all.

Hasbro's been doing really solid work lately with figs like Starlord and the TRU Groot, and the new MCU Vulture. But this fig is just poor IMO.

Yeah, me too. But their small packages have prevented that. Their cheapness too.

Well, Jane as Thor and the Odinson are already pretty much confirmed to be getting retail releases. I have a feeling Ulik will be the BAF for one of those waves and Gladiator Hulk will be the BAF for the other.

Found the Spiderman/Vulture 2 pack at Walmart today. I had to check a few of the boxes to find a Spiderman with good paint apps around the eyes. I checked another Walmart and they had the tags on the shelf but no 2 packs out.

On the subject of paint apps on ToyBiz figures, yes the figures looked nicer. But I had to carefully take apart several figures because those extra paint apps got into the joints and worked like glue. I still have some ToyBiz Spiderman figures with a couple of joints that I couldn't get completely clean. Every time I want to pose them, I risk breaking them. Not to mention figures like Abomination and Urban Legends Daredevil that have bright plastic showing when you move some of the joints due to the way they were painted. I'm more than happy with figures where stuck joints can be fixed with 30-60 seconds under a blowdryer and nothing more.

Ulik looks pretty damn neat. Jugfists and all...I hope they put some protrusions on those bands...Malekith looks good too, but I need to see better pics of them all.

EDIT: Hopefully, we can get a canon Simonson crazy looking Kurse...colorful and weird.

I think that's a bad comparison, because not only do the paint apps on that specific ToyBiz example look overdone to the point of the figure looking dirty, and the aforementioned "the amount of paint ToyBiz did can sometimes cause them to break when posing them", but this Hasbro Cyclops seems to actually have a decent wash on it (those shaded/lit areas certainly aren't from the lighting, looking at other shots from the same set of pics), from the in-package pictures:

EDIT: pictures work now

These are two of the big reasons I won't buy many, if any, ToyBiz figures. That and the oversculpting/weird sculpting choices on a number of them.

Hasbr overcharges for the 12 inch figures, they certainly aren't worth $50.

Yeah, even $40 I could see being a bit more realistic (of course lower than that would be even better) because so far I'm not seeing $50 worth of stuff with these. Iron Man just comes with an alternate head, a set of hands, and blast effects. Cap just has an alt head, a prop mask, a set of fists, and of course his shield. Spidey at least has two alt heads but then just two other sets of hands. There's a distinct lack of accessories to warrant the price. No science tech for Iron Man or additional effects? No additional weapons for Cap or a stand-piece to make it look like he's throwing the shield? No camera or slice of pizza for Spidey? No wonder I can get all three at Walmart for only $25 each now and I've seen them go for less than that on Amazon. Deadpool is the only one so far who even feels close to justifying the $50 price tag.

I'm hoping they drop the price some for future releases. Thor doesn't look to have enough to justify the price; Hulk might come closer simply because of his increased mass, but still doesn't fully justify the price. The only one yet to come out that gets as close to justifying it as Deadpool does is the just-revealed Daredevil, with his two heads, mock helmet, billy clubs, two sets of forearms, and four sets of hands, two pairs for each pair of forearms. Even then, I'm hesitant to drop $50 on it, unless the figure is entirely SDCC exclusive, instead of just that packaging being SDCC exclusive, Black Series-style.

I'm telling you, a 12-inch Giant-Man would sell like hotcakes. It works with a 12-inch collection. It works with a 6-inch collection. It works with a 3.75-inch collection. They need to get on that, as well as other characters that can vary in size (can't think of anybody ATM)

I definitely think a Giant-Man is likely, once they've gotten some of the biggest A-listers out there first.

I saw the 12" Hulk listed on Walmart.com, actually available for preorder through Walmart and not some third party seller like ToyWiz, and the price was $75. Hopefully that was an error on Walmart's part.

Oh crap, I forgot. Yeah, that's the actual official price, if I remember correctly. Damn.

I think it's a matter of opinion, but the wash on the Toybiz one does look a bit dirty, like he's been in a fight. Hasbro figures look like toys a lot of the time (at least with the comic book figures). They're always so crisp and clean. Sometimes that look works and sometimes it doesn't, same with the dirty one.

I've never heard of a Toybiz figure breaking due to paint.

no offense to anyone but the toybiz figures were a wreck design wise (mostly their faces) and i personally like the fact there is no shading on the figures if you want shade put something that casts a shadow on it. and i brought pretty much ever wave since they made daredevil and enjoyed the line so far, dont get why people put in their two cents and just cherry pick , i mean if they started putting shading on every figure after this two pack set it will throw off the line and will need to remake every character done so far , really hope it just sticks to these two figures seeing how basically same figures released, just new phoenix heads so the paint apps have to be even more unique.

Apocalypse, Dormammu (obviously a different design from the BAF), Goliath, and Living Monolith. Not that I'd get all of those but those are some others they could do.

First of all: by decent, I meant "enough to emphasize the lighting effect on the shaping of the body, but not so much as to create a permanent shading effect that overrides that of any actual lights".

Yeah, they're relatively crisp and clean. Same as how they're drawn the majority of the time in the comics. In my opinion, Hasbro Marvel Legends tend to look more like they're "pulled right out of the page" compared to ToyBiz figures, both in terms of sculpt that's closer to both real life and comic books anatomy, and paint that consistently doesn't look overly dirty. Now, of course, there are plenty of ToyBiz figures that aren't that dirtily painted, and there are some figures for whom that kind of paint detail work in their favor. However, I feel there are too many ToyBiz figures who are intended to represent a character whose costume is in a state where they didn't just get out of a tough scrape of some description, but whose paint jobs make them look like they just did Tough Mudder.

Again, this is largely just my opinion. You can prefer ToyBiz's paint jobs if you want to. Hell, I don't even dislike them, I just don't prefer them.

Also, there are many cases of joints on ToyBiz figures being locked due to the paint in a way that makes it difficult to free the joints without damaging the figure. That's something I've heard from almost everybody I've come across who's had any extensive experience with the ToyBiz figures, except for the (relatively small number of) ones who have their heads firmly up their asses.

I've owned about 60+ Toybiz figures throughout my lifetime from all of their respective lines, and have been pretty fortunate to have had only about three figures break due to over-saturation of paints causing them to lock up. The washes were a nightmare especially on the female figures, who often had tiny little pins holding their joints together. It didn't happen often if you knew how to care for them and get them loosened up, but it did happen.

they could package the large figures on their own, that in itself gives people the chance to get the figure instead of forcing them to buy characters they normally wouldnt, not everyone is a completionist.

I think you must have misunderstood my comment. I never said I prefer Toybizs designs as some of their figures are reallying starting to date themselves, but at the same time we are taking about a toyline that is how old now? Anyway, when I say I like Toybiz paint apps I don't necessarily mean the shading. When you buy a Hasbro figure it has limited paint detail, usually 3 colors max. Toybiz would add is many colors to give a figure those extra bits of detail, detail which to me helped it seem a little more like a collectors figure. Hell, look at a Hasbro release Transformer and then compare it to its Takara counterpart and you will see the difference in paint apps.

If you're talking about the Toybiz Icons, they retailed for 20. Hasbro's icons a few years afterwards raised it to 24.99. The price for these new ones are double that.
