I know this was brought up a while back, but I cannot justify hunting for figures anymore. There were times I would hear something was out, pick up my keys and go. But if it's one thing I've learned in life is that patience is my friend. Amazon, Big Bad Toy Store, and Entertainment Earth have been very good to me, so I'm going to stick to online shopping, and saving money on gas in the process.
If etailers had individual figures for sale and kept stock up id be more inclined want shop online but until i can see actual product instead of stock photos i will prefer physical retail where i can see what im buying instead of buying sightunseen.

Hasbro could have left Singularity out of this set and I wouldn't have cared one whit. I'm close to indifferent on Loki also, but a strong head sculpt and smart sculpt/paint on the armor makes things better (didn't she wear a long gown in the storyline??). That said, all this fig really manages to do is make me expectant of another canon Loki in a similar look.
Sonequa Martin may want to take Hasbro to task and sue for unlicensed use of likeness on Monica. Hasbro couldn't have made a head sculpt that looked more like her had they tried. Too bad she's transitioning to a "Star Trek" property rather than "Star Wars," they could have saved that face-sculpt for a toy off her. I was very excited once I learned that Elsa Bloodstone was going to be released, but the figure's face doesn't scream Elsa to me. The collagen/botox injected lips seem more in-line with the false-beauty trends so popular nowadays rather than marking an earnest attempt to bring the character to life. Her appearance in Nextwave showcased a longer face and lips that were pursed most of the time...thin even. That fact coupled with the vapid look on her mug which definitely stands in stark contrast to the often scowling/screaming face of the character, make this a mild miss. I'm happy for Sif, but that fig doesn't try very much to hide it's hodgepodge roots in previous Angela/Enchantress/and now Loki parts. I know that's to expected, but this feels very "mailed in." Sif deserved much better. ...and She Hulk...man I didn't wait all this time for that. It isn't TERRIBLE, but again, empty vacuous looks hurt many of Hasbro's latest offerings. I get that they wanted to avoid the grinning look that adorned the previous iteration, but Hasbro could have done better than this newest version. Funny how Phoenix gets three heads with two looking very similar to one another. The budget-line for one of those heads could've been better used here... I'll be grabbing this set, of course, but there is some disappointment. No wonder the official photos were so fuzzy and distant looking. I said this back when Hasbro announced "more figs than EVER before," but too much of a good thing goes bad quickly when missteps begin to outpace inspired work. I generally don't watch reviews and only posted that one because I was asked to share it with the thread by DarkToyLord. I've watched a sum total of maybe 4-5 reviews over the years. I didn't even watch all of the Spidey 2pk video, hence my surprise about pizza Spidey (which is totally inflated by the way - I expect that artificial bubble to burst). Reviews are great, if that's your thing, but I trust my eyes and attention to detail considerably more than the opinions of others. I still plan to get the set. ... and, yes, I quoted myself. |

I agree with ya that brick n mortar is disheartening, but I have found online just as much. Im not usually one to get whole waves ( like warlock ) and lotta online stores only have certain individual figs for sale not all thus forcing buyers to get whole cases to obtain certain figs ( like for instance sunfire ). And if they do theyre sold out in seconds or proced higher than brock n mortar and then theres the ricockulous shipping.

All this talk is why I'm glad we found the store we did recently. Supporting a local, non-chain business that's all but guaranteed to get any non-exclusive (and many exclusive!) MLs in stock and will special-order/hold items for customers, without a ridiculous markup? I'm all-in.
Hell, we walked in yesterday and, despite only having been in there once before a few weeks back, the owner recognized us on sight and brought out some stuff we'd be interested in. Outside of exclusives, I don't think we'll be buying MLs (or many TFs, either) from the big-box stores. Sure, online is more reliable, but I'm an old curmudgeon who likes having an item in-hand before paying for it, when possible. I've seen some decent Captain customs using the Punisher/MCU Nick Fury base, though that figure's got the old-style hips and some wonky arm articulation. Maybe with some part-swaps, it could work.

I don't blame you. Hasbro's gotten a lot better these days, but you never know if you'll end up with a poor paintjob.

And that's not even getting into the placement of the painted-on eyes when compared to the molded eye areas. It's almost a science.

Yeah, it really is. Eyes are the thing I look at the most. For a while, I thought painting eyes correctly was a forgotten art.

I've decided that I'm going to get the 12 Inch Deadpool if it stays around enough to go on clearance.

To be fair, Nextwave employed a pretty strange style of drawing humans. Features were reduced or exaggerated, while some of her more recent depictions fill some of those other details out. I'm such a fan of her character and Nextwave in general that I'm delighted she's getting a figure at all.

@Brownfinger
Nice shots! After watching the film, all of the MCU figs are top priority. Also, Nebula is starting to become my favorite from the wave. The details in the sculpt are amazing. |

@Browfinger
What you say is true, but I wish they could have at least given her an angry sneer - something more appropriate for a quick tempered monster hunter...it's the little details that really flesh these figs out. I'm also very happy they made her at all... |

I wish they would left the bedraggled wife beater from hanging outta gamoras outfit. Just kinda gives her a trashy look. Rocket, nebula and deathshead are the musthaves for me, though i need the whole wave for mantis ( still stupid to make her a baf instead of the golden legend villian knock off )

This last pic is totally Nitelife.
That Nebula is so goddamned beautiful, I want her bad. But I can't afford it right now. I want the Rocket, but the foot articulation is making me have to pass on it. I'm passing on Gamora, I can't do the printed face thing. I hope that doesn't become routine.

None of the female ML molds are that good, personally I find the somewhat limited hips less offensive than the Spider-women molds that have about half the articulation that they need. I can get Valkyrie and Thundra into some good, dynamic poses for the type of character they are. It's much harder to get the Spider-women into anything resembling a lithe, gymnastic pose that they should be in.
I don't agree about the She Hulk head sculpt either. To me the main problems with it (aside from the mediocre articulation common to all female ML) is the long neck, the shorter height and the shrink wrapped breasts. I have the original She-Hulk figure on my desk right now and the only thing I wish the new one had from it was the height. Hasbro Marvel Legends need better expressions almost across the board in my opinion, so that's not something unique to this figure. But even when they give them a more idiosyncratic just as many people start complaining about it (like Enchantress) so I can see why they just stick to more neutral expressions. The old She-Hulk figures expression is inappropriately vacuous as well. I'm not trying to change anyones' mind, I just don't agree. I have found that my favorite female mold is the kit bashed Silk top/Wasp bottom that was used for the Kate Bishop figure, as it seems to have the best proportions (superhero wise...) as well as sculpt overall, especially on the breasts, where it features the stretched costume look, without looking like shrink wrap or the breast cones that Madonna used to wear in the mid 90's. As for She-Hulk...that's fine that you think that, although you might be looking at her with green tinted glasses. My issue with that She-Hulk is that the figure itself is just ugly and could (and should have been) so much better. It's just that body mold. As for the head, I think it's also the tone of green that they used to paint the face, as well as the hair color. It's very dark compared to past figures, and it throws the whole thing off. From the review, it looked also as if her hair and lipstick was painted black, which also could be throwing it off, as I'm more used to her having a darker green set of locks and lips to offset her bright green skin. I also would have liked to have seen her barefoot as she is often depicted, so the whole figure just really comes off as cheap, especially considering the amount of work that the rest of the set appears to have received. The older She-Hulk figures weren't great either, but at least they were pretty (especially the SDCC version, which I felt was gorgeous.) If I do get this one, I'm gonna definitely be switching out the head for either that one or the Savage She-Hulk head. I just feel they do her better justice. |

I'm a bit confused about what you guys mean when you say shrink-wrapped breasts. Do you just mean the cloth looks too form-fitting?
Side note, I've always found it funny how when Hulk turns into the Hulk, he becomes a big, kind of ugly guy. When She Hulk transforms, she's like a supermodel who's been working on her toning exercises.

Yeah, they're referring to how some of the female bodies are molded how female characters are often drawn in comics, as if the costume has separate boob-socks, instead of being an actual piece of skintight clothing that would just stretch over both boobs the way real fabrics do, creating somewhat of a "mono-boob".
