While I personally prefer the classic green there are many instances where his gauntlets at least were gold. Modern comics sometimes (I know they were gold when he was in Daredevil), the '90s cartoon, various merchandise, and the Avengers Alliance game have him with gold or yellow gauntlets and/or gloves. Like Tomax said it adds a bit more color to the overall costume so I wouldn't have been against gold being used here.
![]() Not a huge departure by any means, but that's the image in my head when I hear the name "Mysterio." |

The image that always comes to my mind is the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #13, that image of him melting Spidey's webs mid-air just immediately sets a cool tone for the character to me. Mysterio has always been among my favorite comic villains and I am just super happy to finally get a good looking Legends figure.

GotG 2 had three MCU characters in each wave, plus a BAF. So far if the 6 figure number is accurate BP will be the only MCU figure in his (BP, Black Bolt, Namor, Silver Surfer, Klaw, Shuri). That's not a good look when it is the first Marvel film to have an exclusively black main cast, and Hasbro seem to lack faith figures of those characters would sell and instead stock it with 66% white guys from the comics with only tangential relationship to BP.

It's also set in the 1990s apparently, so the speculation is it will end with the Skrulls going into hiding setting up Secret War after Infinity War is done with.

Guardians is a group of heroes not a single one, the movie isnt called starlord is it? to compare that with the solo movie black panther is crazy , and all this PC crap about too many whites being in this wave is alittle nuts seeing how most that call out their dislike for the waves wont even buy them if it was an all black wave leaving peg warmers. and the ones that buy it only do it for reviews then resale it or claim it isnt the right face or look for the character. too many band wagon collectors one person brings up racist views of anti white (which im not even white btw) and many more come out to bash it.

Also I'm not so racist that I assume people won't buy black characters just because they are black. I for one want the entire Black Panther cast, their designs are phenomenal. I think your comment speaks more about your own character than it does about who would actually buy action figures or why.

People will know who they are when the film comes out. That is how film merchandising works. The film creates demand. Your logic is absurd.

I have yet to see actual pics of the figures announced today as I just got outta work. But one thing I am happy about is that the prices on Ebay that the scalpers have been charging for VHTF figures such as the Hydra soldiers, SDCC Luke Cage, Black Bolt & Medusa to name a few, will now drop like a rock as no one is gonna pay em those overpriced amounts they have been asking for these figures the past few yrs.
Classic Deathlok is way overdue as the 1st one by TB was small & lanky. 1st app swim trunks Namor is alos long overdue as the 1st few attempts at classic Namor by both TB/Hasbro have been utter failures. I didn't buy the Walgreens Namor cuz it sports his modern look & I've always been a fan of his 1st app look. I hope they put him on the right buck? Any pics of him out there? I'm stoked over that classic Mr Fantastic figure! I like the BW with Bike but if the classic vintage version is comic book accurate, that will be my go to Widow purchase. BAF Lizard looks great, I just hope he isn't too large. As far as the disappointment over the BP wave, I have to ask, is it because of the BP movie trailer that came out and it showed all the MCU Wakanda related characters & none made it in the wave? Answer truthfully, how many of you here have actually ever read BP comics from the 60's till now? I bet less than 20% of you can say you have. The vast majority of you just know of BP due to his appearance in CW. News flash for you MCU fans, the Panther's list of villians & allies in the comics that are actually popular or relevant is very small. His female bodyguards have hardly ever been a centerpiece for comic stories that I have read. His major arch-villain's list consists of like 3, with Klaw being the most famous followed by Man-Ape & Kilmonger. I would buy all 3 if re-done. BP to me, has always been an Avenger and then a solo hero. He needs female BGs about as much as he needs suntan lotion while swimming in the Wakandan beach. BP, Falcon, Deathlok, Luke Cage, Storm, Bishop & WarMachine are 7 all time favorite classic comic superheroes of mine & I want all 7 done in action figure form in their classic duds. But all of them combined don't have as many rogues villians as Ironman, Cap, Spidey or the Hulk have alone. So when I hear people complaining that the BP wave sucks, I ask why? Cuz the MCU actors arent' in it? For me, they could give us all comic version of the movie characters and I would be happy. I'm not a MCU collector in general so that lack would not bother me much. But I feel like Hasbro isn't giving this movie's line the representation and respect it deserves. Now that's just my opinion and you're welcome to another, but telling us that we don't like the wave because it's not MCU shows a misunderstanding of the actual issue we have. Hopefully this has helped to resolve that. FWIW yes I have run parts of Black Panther comics, not a completionist but enough that I don't fall into the whole "only know of Black Panther becuase of CW." I think that's selling this community very far short. I dont' think it really matters if someone's read the book either, one doesn't have to have read the books to recognize the problem with the diversity of the wave, just like one doesn't have to be part of a demographic of people (of any color, creed, etc) to understand there are problems that group faces. I'm also expecting Hasbro may get some mainsteam backlash from this. Which is unfortunate because unlike many situations where an apology and a quick fix will work, you can't do that when it comes to making figures. There is a definite lengthy turnaround time. Most regulars here are familiar with my CONSTANTLY stated preference for canon figures. When forced to buy MCU figs for any BAF I might want, I generally end up selling them off shortly after purchase. Months ago, I even sold my MCU Hulk Buster Baf because I determined I had no use for it. I only mention this to disabuse you of the notion that I like MCU figs, I obviously don't care for them. Despite my indifference to the figs, I understand their strategic value in supporting the efforts of the 'real' money maker - the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a long term gamer - my first systems were the 2600 followed by the Sega Master system...I had a friend that actually owned Pong - I've learned that serving the 'hardcore' fan isn't a winning business proposition. There aren't enough of we hardcore anythings; the profit margin is actually in the causal fan whose numbers dwarf ours. In the case of toys, the casual fans are children exposed to the MCU, parents who're catering to the wants of their children, and the marginally aware semi-fan who has to look up any character outside of the most familiar mainstays. The hook for the casual fan is the MCU and ANYTHING that feeds back into that revenue stream is gravy to Marvel/Disney. Get over it, MCU figs are here to stay. Hell, we're lucky they even provide us with comic canon figs given that the comics are essentially a fiscal afterthought when you directly compare the dollars generated. ![]() *Comes up to podium, clears throat* Now, as someone who has met the arbitrary standard required to talk about superhero toys, I can say, unequivocally this wave sucks! ![]() It's funny because you think they'd tease the movie version they're inevitably gonna do. I don't know anyone who cares about buying the BAF again. Anyway, looks like the villains in the Captain Marvel movie will be the Skrulls. Wonder if that's part of the reason for the Super-Skrull figure we're supposedly getting. ![]() I noticed you showed no pictures of black panther in jungle action tpb.. im sure that's what parademon is refering to, not a bunch of 2000 and up era stories. |

The films recoup BILLIONS of dollars in revenue for Marvel/Disney, exponentially more than the publisher could ever dream to make on comics. If you don't get why/how that fact would function as a prime business incentive, then you're either being intellectually dishonest, or simply lack the understanding needed to earnestly engage in this sort of conversation. It doesn't matter whether or not the Legends line is specifically earmarked as a vehicle for the MCU or canon characters; Marvel/Disney makes the majority of their profits (by a wide margin) off of the films and they would be fools not capitalize on that.

************************************************** ***' HOly mother of god. That second Thor trailer is nearly as awesome as the first one (the song from the first one tips it over the edge.) I don't know how good the movie is actually going to be, though it really looks like it will be awesome, but I think Marvel produced the two best trailers they've done so far for this movie. Seriously the Thor movies were some of the lower points of the MCU for me but this just looks....amazing. Then I go watch the Justice League trailer and it's just awful nuts. I wanna punch Flash in the face. They think he's edgy funny but it's just annoying. Last edited by Captain Nash; 07-23-2017 at 06:56 AM.. |

I don't even know what the point of your argument is. I was going to remind everyone that Hasbro merely has the license to the IP and they have to please both Disney/Marvel who they got the license from and who can pull it, and the Vendors who buy their case assortments on the assumption they'll sell and have to offer an assortment that will please them, but instead I kept wondering just what "other" line that movie figures would go to otherwise and just how much Marvel Legends would suffer without having any movie figures. Even Mattel doesn't run movie lines, they're all part of Multiverse, which has TV, comic, and movie figures all mixed together with some waves that are single topic, but still part of the Multiverse branding and slotted in as waves with the mixed assortments. |

That's not what he's saying at all....
Marvel Legends is for both the movies and comics, but you'd have to delusional to convince yourself that the movies aren't the primary focus of the line as far as marketing and branding goes. And those other lines target entirely different markets from Hasbro due to price point and availability. At the end of the day, if you're a casual fan of the Marvel movies (i.e., most people), you're not going to drop $60+ to import an SHF, drop $80 on a Mezco, or, even more laughably, $250+ on a Hot Toys. The type of market Hasbro tries to reach are the people that casually stroll into a Wal-Mart, go "Oh look, it's Thor from that kickass movie!" and pick it up off the shelves because it's only $20 and it looks cool. The biggest wave of pegwarmers that we ever got was the Allfather Wave, and that was nothing but comic characters, and well-known comic book characters at that. |

I knew where you were coming from after reading your first post. It has nothing to do with being "politically correct", you were pointing out what I've been saying. Look at the MCU figures from 2017 from GOTG: Vol 2, to Homecoming, to Man-Thing, to the upcoming Ragnarok. Hasbro made the best the best versions of MCU figures that I've ever seen in one year. The character selection was almost flawless. Even if they did not release 3-4 MCU versions of the Black Panther and his supporting cast, they could have done comic versions and personally I would've been okay with that.
Imagine this: some kid goes and watched the Black Panther movie...they go toy shopping for Killmonger and the Dora Milaje, and find Namor, Black Bolt, Iron Man...while they recognize Iron Man for sure, they already have a bunch of him, they're not going to necessarily buy him again. Based on just watching the movie they have no idea who Namor or Black Bolt are either, so it's not really like they would have a desire to pick them up. It's poor marketing tie in either way. Marvel is doing a tremendous job wtih Black Panther from what I've seen so far, Hasbro is dropping the ball all over the place. The more I analyze this wave the less logical it becomes. |

Black Panther has been my favorite hero since 1994(I was 7 years old). I saw him on an episode of Fantastic Four, which is my all time favorite superhero team. Growing up as a young black man, it was great to see someone who looked like me take it to who I thought was the greatest team ever created. My mother took me to my local comic book store, and the owner who was recently killed this year because of a petty criminal pointed me in the direction of a Black Panther comic and I was hooked. Panther represented Blacks and Africa in a light that I'd never seen before. Christopher Priest run on Black Panther helped me escape from the world when I got older and had me carrying myself a different way. I've never looked at him as a superhero, but as my favorite young director Ryan Coogler put it, he's a Politian. This man bears the weight of an entire Nation. His Dora Milaje show women empowerment. T'Challa said no more to the Wives in Training, he said let them train and show their true skills. This is going on a bit long, but I love and adore this character with ever fiber of my being. What a truly empowering representative of African culture, and maybe beyond that the evolution of change. T'Challa once said "The old ways are dead". Wakanda, just like every civilization in the history of man is not immune to change...I'm done. |

And honestly....it's not hard to come up with a kickass BP wave that people would want to buy that's still within that character's mythos. This is just off the top of my head:
MCU Black Panther MCU Nakia MCU Killmonger Comic Klaw Comic Storm Comic Shuri BAF Comic M'Baku If you really feel that Storm MUST be in an X-Men wave, there's tons of other characters you can replace her with. |

Your argument was based on the concept that the Marvel Legends line is NOT an 'MCU' line with the implication being that MCU figs are somehow lesser than, or separate from: My point to you is that the Marvel publishing house is no longer just in the business of comic book production. It actually might be safer to consider them more of a movie studio, as you hinted at with your last bit of snark to LordBest: Quote:
The movies are now Marvel's main source of revenue and the fans that they cater to are casual, not hardcore. Like it or not, that's just the nature of business. Companies go where the money is; some people call this capitalism. Also: Quote:
This suggests that, at the very least, you understand that 'brand awareness' for the casual fan comes from the films, not the comics. With that in mind, it makes sense that the MCU be just as prominently featured as comic canon figures. In fact, because the movies make BILLIONS and the comics come nowhere close to that amount, we hardcore fans that want the Marvel Legends line to be largely comic canon figures, are very lucky that it's a 65/35 split in our favor as far as what gets made. And all this is coming from someone who is all about comic canon figs...I don't like MCU figs, but I get it...it's the horse not the cart. But again, we can't have a meaningful dialogue about this without coming to mutual agreements on facts and a shared opinion on how to engage in adult discourse. EDIT...additionally, I see equal numbers of comic canon peg warmers as I do MCU figs. Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 07-23-2017 at 08:33 AM.. |

The disappointment over the lack of movie characters in BP's wave is warranted, but should be expected. The Ant Man and Doctor Strange waves were like this, too, with barely much from the movie and mostly a wave of figures to mark off your ML checklist.
It stands out more here because BP has such a diverse cast, but even if they were all pasty white I still think at least half of them have no chance of ever getting a Marvel Legend figure, especially if there's only going to be one wave to go with this movie. All and all though they just join an already long waiting list of characters from the MCU who deserve a toy but haven't received any yet. |
